Break out the balloons – it’s birthday time! No, not just mine (although thank you very much), but Hellfest’s big 1-0, the crossing point into double figures, the decade marker.  It’s practically an institution now, not just in France, not just in Europe but across the world with folks coming from every which place to rock n revel. Hellfest is just about the best damn festival out there, so you KNOW this is going to be special.

Sebastian Swart – MORGOTH

February 13th, 2015

by Arto Lehtinen

The German death metal squad Morgoth unleashed the fiery lethal death metal outputs in early 90’s such as ETERNAL FALL, CURSED and ODIUM when death metal was at its peak. When the wind of changes started blowing the band changed the sounds more into the brutal industrilized approach and finally called its quits. The German death metal giant slept till 201o when Morgoth was resurrected back to life. Despite the vocalist change, the five piece’s most recent album UNGOD still proves the old school death metal lives and well. The band’s guitarist Sebastian Swart unveils more about Morgoth.

MORGOTH posts video from upcoming live-release, “Cursed To Live”

May 16th, 2012

On June 26th in North America (June 25th in Europe), MORGOTH will release their first-ever live CD/DVD set, Cursed To Live, that celebrates the band’s 20th anniversary of their all-time classic album, Cursed. To give fans a glimpse of this upcoming release, the band has just launched a video clip of the track “Isolated” (Live at Way Of Darkness festival 2011) on Century Media’s YouTube channel

Cursed To Live will be released digitally in North America, and the limited DVD+2CD will be available exclusively at CM Distro. The live show featured on the album was recorded at the band’s triumphant show headlining the Way Of Darkness Festival 2011, where MORGOTH performed an extensive set of 15 songs that mainly came from Cursed, among various other death metal classics. The DVD includes the Way Of Darkness show in its entirety, plus additional live videos from Rock Hard Festival and their warm-up show in Wermelskirchen, as well as the band’s historic four official music videos (the CD/DVD set includes an additional CD with six live tracks from the Rock Hard show and five live tracks from MORGOTH’s show at Wacken Open Air 2011).

The cover artwork for Cursed To Live (which intentionally alludes to the original Cursed artwork) was designed by the renowned artist Dirk Rudolph (RAMMSTEIN, IN EXTREMO, APOCALYPTICA), who also created the original artwork for Cursed 21 (!) years ago. The audio of the live recordings was mixed by legendary death metal producer Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, BLOODBATH, etc.) to sonic brilliance.

To celebrate the release of Cursed To Live, MORGOTH has announced further live shows all over the globe. Check out the upcoming tour dates below.
