MESHUGGAH MEMBERS OFFER NEW ALBUM INFO / Questions for Guitarist?

January 21st, 2011

In an exclusive new video interview with Decibel Magazine, MESHUGGAH drummer Tomas Haake and vocalist Jens Kidman discuss the band’s follow-up 2008’s Billboard-charting album, obZen.

Regarding the approach to their new music, Haake offers: “… Maybe not try to be as anal about every single little hit [that] has to be super-tight but be more focused on the vibe of a track and let some of those tiny errors slip through.  I think that kinda breeds a bit of life into a song.”

Watch the exclusive 4-minute video here.

In 2008, obZen debuted at #59 on the American Top 200 Billboard chart, clinched the #14 spot on the iTunes Top Rock Albums chart, was the #1 Most Added metal album on the CMJ Loud Rock and FMQB radio charts, and set a new Swedish MySpace pre-listening promotion record for over a quarter of a million album streams in seven days.

GUITAR WORLD MAGAZINE SEEKING FAN & READER QUESTIONS FOR MESHUGGAH’S FREDRIK THORDENDAL

Guitar World Magazine is working on a “Dear Guitar Hero” feature on MESHUGGAH’s 8-string guitarist Fredrik Thordendal and seeks the help of fans & readers to submit questions.

From today’s post on Guitar World’s official website:

“Got a question for your favorite guitarist?  Let us be your go-between. The concept is easy – you submit your queries and we pass them on to some of the world’s greatest guitarists. Only the sharpest and funniest questions will be used.  Just send to dearguitarhero@guitarworld.com and put ‘Dear Guitar Hero: Fredrik Thordendal’ in the subject line.  Remember to include your name in the e-mail body, so you can get credited in the magazine, and impress and annoy your jealous friends!”

Questions can be submitted directly from this location.

MESHUGGAH are currently working on the follow-up to their 2008 Billboard-charting album, obZen, which debuted at #59 on the American Top 200 Billboard chart in 2008.  It also clinched the #14 spot on the iTunes Top Rock Albums chart, was the #1 Most Added metal album on the CMJ Loud Rock and FMQB radio charts, and set a new Swedish MySpace pre-listening promotion record for over a quarter of a million album streams in seven days.

MESHUGGAH MEMBERS TO HOST LIVE STREAM OF THEIR ALIVE DVD

January 13th, 2011

In space, no one can hear you… unless you scream.

On Monday, January 17th, 2011 at 12 noon PACIFIC / 3 p.m. EASTERN / 9 p.m. CET, MESHUGGAH members Tomas Haake and Jens Kidman will host a live stream of the band’s first DVD Alive, which debuted at #8 on the Nielsen SoundScan Top Music DVD Video chart in North America the week following its February 2010 release.

The event will begin with a live Q&A video session via uStream.com with Haake and Kidman, who will answer questions submitted by fans via MESHUGGAH’s Twitter and Facebook pages.

Alive will stream at the Nuclear Blast Streaming Room following the fan Q&A at this location: www.nuclearblast.de/streamingroom.

A second stream of the live DVD will take place at 4 p.m. PACIFIC / 7 p.m. EASTERN /  1 a.m. CET.

Shot by director/producer Ian McFarland of Killswitch Productions during MESHUGGAH’s 2009 North American tour and at their 2008 performance at the Loudpark Festival in Tokyo, Japan, Alive contains concert footage of selections from the band’s Billboard Top 200-charting 2008 release, obZen, in addition to their time-tested career staples.  Gracefully interlacing the live tracks are behind-the-scenes vignettes shot in black & white that give Alive a concert film feel so unlike many of the live DVDs currently on the market.  The result is a visceral, visual abduction into the band’s metric insanity-in-action.

Alive comes with a bonus live audio CD containing twelve tracks.
