I didn’t know what to expect walking into The Garage; it is a small but very nice venue, and from my experiences, the smaller the venue the better it is for a band to interact with the crowd, and each band that performed tonight did just that.

MASTER: New Album Info & Track Unveiled

February 6th, 2012

Legendary Czech death metal legion MASTER have completed work on their eleventh studio offering. Entitled The New Elite, the 11-track work of deviance was again recorded at Shaark Studios and features cover art by German graphic designer Mark Bridgeman, viewable at THIS LOCATION.

Commented MASTER founding bassist/vocalist Paul Speckmann: “The New Elite deals with the problems we face in society at this current time. The rich are getting richer and the poor are starving on the streets all around the world while men battle each other for world dominance! Governments are grabbing the world by the balls and dictating the new rules of the soon-to-be New Elite, while the youth of today just sit down and take it. I really wonder if and when the youth of today will take a stand against these crazy fucked-up, ruthless world leaders. The time has come to stand up and be counted!”

To check out “Smile As You’re Told,” the fourth track off the new offering, visit Pulverised Records SoundCloud Page.

01) The New Elite

02) Rise Up And Fight

07) As Two Worlds Collide

08) New Reforms

09) Guide Yourself

10) Souls To Dissuade

11) Twist Of Fate

DEATH STRIKE – Paul Speckmann

July 22nd, 2011

Death Strike.jpg

Interview with Paul Speckmann

Conducted by: Carlos M. Llanas

If you ever listened to Master or Abomination, chances are you know about the mastermind behind it all, Paul Speckmann.  Born in Chicago, Illinois, Speckmann spent his time writing and performing all through the 80’s and continues to play shows today.  Sure, he toured with Master and released some killer albums, but before Master’s reunion there was something else…something wicked…something relentless.  I’m talking about Death Strike of course.  As vicious as it is raw,  Death Strike’s "Fuckin’ Death" was the kind of album that you heard and immediately thought "What the fuck? This is wild!"  and that’s exactly what it was; A wild ride from a genre of metal unheard of for that time.  Paul was kind enough to share a few words with and we were more than happy to have him.  Here he is…Paul Speckmann.

MASTER: Death Metal Legends Forced To Cancel Headlining Tour

March 3rd, 2011

Death metal legends MASTER, who were scheduled to kick off their long-anticipated U.S. headlining tour earlier this week with support from Lightning Swords Of Death and Mobile Deathcamp, were denied entry into the country and forced to return to the Czech Republic.

Said MASTER mainman Paul Speckmann in a statement: “We arrived Tuesday morning in Holland and after intense questioning we proceeded to the eye and body scan machine. Along with the other passengers, we proceeded to the plane. We arrived in Detroit and went to passport control. I waited for about two hours for any word on the guys. The police came to explain that the visa waiver program didn’t apply to musicians. So they sent me to customs and proceeded to tear apart everything and sent me on my way. I waited for six hours to get on another airplane and return to Europe. Thankfully the lady at the Delta checkout counter was very helpful and confirmed that the guys would be on the next plane in the evening and I could return with them. The guys were escorted to the plane by four police officers and returned their passports when we arrived in Amsterdam. Since when are musicians and terrorists in the same category? Again I apologize to all the bands, organizers and fans of course. I guess the CD cover of the Human Machine CD has become a reality!”

Due to the financial loss, MASTER U.S. tour merch, a CD/T-shirt combo is being sold domestically for $20.00 US/ $30.00 EU via PayPal (

MASTER: Death Metal Legends To Kick Off Headlining Tour With Lightning Swords Of Death Next Month

February 6th, 2011

Death metal legends MASTER are proud to announce their 2011 U.S. headlining tour. Scheduled to take place next month, the debauchery will commence on March 1 in Fredrick, Maryland and run through over a month’s worth of dates before coming to a close on April 3 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The band will be joined by Los Angeles black metal collective Lightning Swords Of Death and Ohio thrashers Mobile Deathcamp.

Said MASTER mainman Paul Speckmann of the trek: “Looking forward to bringing MASTER Metal back to the USA and sharing a few new tracks from The Human Machine as well as playing the classics once again for you! MASTER guitarist Alex Nejezchleba and Peter Bajci from the Czech Republic will be joining me on the American trek. MASTER your own Destiny.”

MASTER released their tenth studio album, The Human Machine, last May via Singapore’s Pulverised Records. Said Blabbermouth in a review of the record: “MASTER albums have always boasted riffing defined by density, nastiness, and slight contortions that make them memorable.” Terrorizer added: “Dragging its venomous oldschool intent like a caveman with his club, MASTER are proudly living up to their name and taking their place among death metal’s founding fathers. Commended Metal Maniacs: “The Human Machine is a monster here to restore the idea that the world’s most grotesque and horrifying subject matter has a place to unfurl itself and those of us who indulge can do so without worrying if a hair’s out of place.”

MASTER – Paul Speckmann

December 15th, 2008

Master - logo2.jpg

Paul Speckmann – The mastermind behind Death Strike, Master, Abomination, etc.

Interview by Luxi Lahtinen

Paul Speckmann is one of those incarnations of everything heavy, brutal and metal that many have considered as a true inspirations and influence when starting their own band. Paul is mainly known for his bands Death Strike, Abomination and especially Master. He has received a lot of credit from musicians around the globe, from such bands as Terrorizer, Napalm Death, Obituary, Entombed, etc., for being a huge influence for all these bands back in the day. His impact on the whole death metal scene is unquestionable.

Having recorded 9 studio albums with Master in his career so far, the band´s latest album, SLAVES TO SOCIETY, contains 11 songs of classic Master material. Paul´s well distinctive, death grunts are one of the trademarks of Master´s sound – so is the fast, uncompromising, heavy and to-the-point approach style, which is actually easy to love. It even could sincerely be said that Master is like a rolling stone that just never becomes covered with moss. It has only gotten better over the years, which SLAVES TO SOCIETY so clearly proves for being a real nutt-kicking effort from them.

In talking with one of the true icons of the death metal, Paul was very keen on telling us about his latest ´baby´ SLAVES TO SOCIETY, his move from his birthplace Chicago, Illinois to his current home country the Czech Republic, problems about finding their latest album in music stores from Czech Republic – as well as naturally anything related to his past bands from War Cry to now Chech-based Master, that is also activated touring-wise.

Now let´s call our favorite beast in, and let him continue telling the story…
