Death To All / Obituary / Massacre, Swamp Leper Stomp Tour, Best Buy Theater, New York, NY, November 30, 2014
DEATH DTA TOURS regret that, due to several factors, Massacre will not be taking part in the “Symbolic 20th Anniversary” European tour in late February/March 2015. Unfortunately, Massacre also had to cut their participation in the Swamp Leper Stomp ‘14 tour with DTA, Obituary and Rivers Of Nihil by one show.
Massacre bassist Terry Butler and vocalist Ed Webb today issued joint statements indicating that they have formally exited the band:
Said Terry Butler: ”It’s with a heavy heart that I am announcing my departure from Massacre. I wish Ed, [drummer] Mikey [Mazzonetto] and [guitarist] Rick [‘Rozz’ DeLillo] the best of luck with their future endeavors. I would like to thank the awesome fans for their support and loyalty and to those who labored to help bring the band back from beyond. Thank you as well….Arrivederci!”
Adds Ed Webb: ”After much thought and consideration it is with deep regret that I announce my departure from Massacre. This was not an easy decision to make but a necessary one. The last four years have had its share of both unbelievable times as well as some times I wish to forget. I want to thank all of the Massacre fans, those who accepted me as the new vocalist as well as those who didn’t. You guys gave me the desire to work harder than I ever had in the past. I also had the privilege to play some of the most incredible shows, do some killer tours and meet a lot of great people along the way. At this point, I am going to just concentrate on my two main projects [Generichrist and Destined To Ruin] as well as a few other projects I am working on. I want to endlessly thank Terry, Rick and Mikey for the opportunity to record an absolutely crushing CD and get to tour around the world with them. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors. I hope to see everyone in the future and thanks for letting me do what I live to do!”

Terry Butler needs no introduction as his works in legendary death metal bands are known amongst death metal fans world wide. Terry keeps himself busy with Massacre and Obituary at the moment. Massacre’s new full length album BACK FROM BEYOND comes 23 years after their debut album hit the streets and gained enormous praises. Obituary is putting the final touches on their brand new album which was financed by the fans. Therefore, it was a good time to catch up with Terry Butler from his home and talk about those bands and of course his past works with Six Feet Under and the mighty Death.
70000 tons Of Metal is the biggest heavy metal cruise on the planet. It has gained and created a loyal and fanatical following amongst metal fans around the globe in a short few years. Even though there were a lot of discussions, and even some outrage on the official 70000tons forum and social media, about the long silence while waiting to hear about the booking of the bands. However, the whole cruise was a surrealistic experience for journalists and fans alike. Spirits were not dampened by a rainy day which whipped the Caribbean sea and the ship, Majesty Of The Seas, about. The metallic mayhem on the sea sailed from Miami, Florida to Costa Maya, Mexico and back. Here is the brief write-up of all these bands who appeared on the ship.

Wacken Open Air 2008
Once again tens of thousands of lunatic metal freaks travelled from all over the world to the small German village located in the middle of the beautiful northern German countryside. The small peaceful Wacken literally goes upside down when nearly 80.000 conquer the village during one weekend in a year. Wacken Open Air celebrated its 19th birthday from the 31st of July to the 2nd of August, whose biggest headliner ever in the history of Wacken was Iron Maiden. Despite Iron Maiden being the biggest name on the bill, however there were tons of other interesting and fascinating names.
Brat: The mass convergence of catholic youth in Sydney for World Youth Day the week Ray and I left brought a smile to my face and a feeling of warmth as I realised it wouldn’t be long until I was part of a similar pilgrimage but to Hamburg Germany and with two major differences—where Sydney was awash with colourful youth, Hamburg would be invaded by a swarm of black; and the trolley suitcases carrying clothing would instead be trolleys full of beer; songs of the gospel would be replaced by metal anthems. They came to worship at the cross—we to worship at the flaming longhorn but we all would display our nations’ flags proudly.
Tickets for W:O:A 2008 sold phenomenally fast. The special edition X-mas pack with extra goodie bag sold out before I could take a long breath after my 2007 trip. By February the official festival ticket seller was “SOLD OUT”. Suddenly the ebay market was flooded with tickets with one ticket reaching a record price of 800 British Pounds—obscene. Even in July with less than 1 month before the festival, there was an average of 5 new listings a day for tickets, which nullified all “SOLD OUT” credibility. (Brat)

Massacre have reactivated after being on hold since the last full length studio album. The legendary death metal squad have done a number of gigs as well as festival dates. Besides Massacre, the same members have founded a more death/punk-ish oriented group Denial Fiend, whose debut album THEY RISE was released by Ibex Moon. The five piece visited Wacken Open Air and played in front of huge crowd. The Massacre and Denial Fiend legendary frontman, Kam Lee, was the chosen a victim to tell more about the resurrection of Massacre and the formation of Denial Fiend.
