LAMB OF GOD Announces eBay Memorabilia Auction for Randy Blythe Defense Fund

August 29th, 2012
Lamb of God

Lamb of God

MACHINE HEAD’s Robb Flynn and Phil Demmel, MEGADETH’s David Ellefson, Slash, and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Also Contribute

While LAMB OF GOD singer Randy Blythe is back home in America after five weeks in prison in the Czech Republic, his legal problems are far from over.  Manslaughter charges are still hanging over Blythe and at some point over the next few months he will have to return to Prague and stand trial.  Faced with continuing massive legal bills, LAMB OF GOD has decided to create an eBay auction of equipment and memorabilia to raise money for Randy’s legal bills. All equipment was either used on tour or in the recording studio or in a video.  The auction features items provided by all five members of LAMB OF GOD.

In addition, a number of musicians have offered equipment to be used in the auction.  Guitars have been donated by Machine Head’s Robb Flynn and Phil Demmel as well as Slash and Five Finger Death Punch. Megadeth’s David Ellefson and Five Finger Death Punch’s Chris Kael have each contributed a bass and the members of Five Finger Death Punch also have contributed a signed skateboard.

Justice Now, the site set up for donations, will remain open for those wishing to donate to Randy’s defense fund.  The band appreciates all of the support Randy has received since his arrest on June 28th and is thankful for all of the donations that have been made in these tough economic times.  As stated before, without the fans, there is no LAMB OF GOD.

August 6th, 2012

Greetings. This is D. Randall Blythe, checking in from my beloved hometown of Richmond, VA, United States of America. I was recently released on bail from Pankrác Prison in Prague, Czech Republic, after over a month of incarceration. Now that I am out for the moment, I would like to say a few things.

1. While in prison, I had minimal knowledge of how my case was viewed anywhere but the Czech Republic. I was told by my attorney that I had a lot support from peers in the music industry, my hometown, fans, and of course my family. I cannot express how emotional it made me upon my release to read about even a fraction of the voices that were raised on my behalf. From legends in my music community, to fans across the world, and even people who were previously unaware of my existence but sympathized with my plight- I am truly humbled. I cannot thank you enough for your thoughts and prayers. I would especially like to thank the people of Richmond, VA, for standing by me. In the 48 hours I have been home, many people I have never met before have stopped me on the street, waved and smiled as I passed by, or said hello in a restaurant. All have said “We are glad you are home, Randy”. You all make me proud and grateful that I call Richmond home.

2. I would like state that I suffered no abuse, from either authorities or inmates, during my incarceration in Pankrác. I received no special treatment, and was in general population with everyone else- make no mistake, it was prison, not some celebrity rehab tv show. But I was treated fairly by the guards and kindly by my fellow inmates. People are dying of starvation all over the world. Men and women are losing their lives daily in the Middle East and other war torn regions. I had food, clothes, shelter, and no one was trying to kill me. I cannot complain over a short stay in prison while many people elsewhere fight to survive on a daily basis.

3. If it is deemed necessary for me to do so, I WILL return to Prague to stand trial. While I maintain my innocence 100%, and will do so steadfastly, I will NOT hide in the United States, safe from extradition and possible prosecution. As I write this, the family of a fan of my band suffers through the indescribably tragic loss of their child. They have to deal with constantly varying media reports about the circumstances surrounding his death. I am charged with maliciously causing severe bodily harm to this young man, resulting in his death. While I consider the charge leveled against me ludicrous and without qualification, my opinion makes no difference in this matter. The charge exists, and for the family of this young man, questions remain. The worst possible pain remains. It is fairly common knowledge amongst fans of my band that I once lost a child as well. I, unfortunately, am intimately familiar with what their pain is like. Therefore, I know all too well that in their time of grief, this family needs and deserves some real answers, not a media explosion followed by the accused killer of their son hiding like a coward thousands of miles away while they suffer. I am a man. I was raised to face my problems head on, not run from them like a petulant child. I hope that justice is done, and the family of Daniel N. will receive the closure they undoubtably need to facilitate healing. I feel VERY STRONGLY that as an adult, it would be both irresponsible and immoral for me not to return to Prague if I am summoned. This is not about bail money. This is about a young man who lost his life. I will act with honor, and I will fight to clear my good name in this matter. Thank you for reading this, and I wish you all peace.

Review by Hal Sinden

Photography by Ashlinn Nash

Despite its reputation for a tricky commute and arguably eyesore appearance (don’t confuse familiarity with satisfaction, fellow Londoners), the O2 Arena is a fantastic venue space for the Golden Gods and ample notice that metal is still as healthy as it ever was, showing no signs of bowing to austerity measures.

What would we do without this yearly event?

Well, for a start we’d probably have healthier livers and better hearing in our later years, however many would also be deprived of their chance to postpone their Download hangovers or simply be given a reason to wash off this year’s festival mud and watch some of the scene’s glitterati forget about their day jobs for an evening.  Metal Hammer Magazine’s annual schmoozefest is upon us, and with it a dazzling array of leather, lip gloss & limp fringes.

Dethklok, Lamb of God, Gojira – Tour Cancelled

July 26th, 2012

In light of circumstances beyond our control, the upcoming Dethklok and Lamb of God with Gojira summer tour has been canceled. Refunds will be available to customers who already purchased tickets through their point of purchase. We thank Dethklok fans for their continued support and look forward to releasing information about the band’s upcoming third album and a planned fall tour in the coming weeks.

Due to the continued incarceration of LAMB OF GOD singer Randy Blythe in the Czech Republic, the band’s co-headline tour with Dethklok scheduled to begin August 1st in Seattle is being cancelled.  The band regrets the decision but the uncertainty of Randy’s release makes it impossible to carry on with the tour.  Upon Randy’s release, it is the band’s intention to rebook a tour in the fall and at this time the band fully intends to participate in the Mayhem Cruise in December.

LAMB OF GOD wishes to thank Dethklok, Adult Swim and Gojira for their support and patience as well as all of the promoters who had dates on the tour.  Last but certainly not least, the band thanks all of the fans who bought tickets for the tour and who have been supportive of Randy and the band over the last month that Randy has been held in Prague.  Without the fans, there is no LAMB OF GOD.

LAMB OF GOD – Randy Blythe’s Bail Being Challenged

July 25th, 2012

The Gauntlet has learned from sources in the Czech Republic that the prosecutor has challenged LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe’s newly paid bail of $400,000 USD. Following the presentation of the court documents yesterday to the Prague Municipal Court accepting Blythe’s bail, the prosecutor issued a challenge today.

What happens now is that on Friday (July 27th), the prosecutor will submit to the Judge a reason for the bail denial. At that point, the judge has five days to rule, and another five days for it to be written or published to the court. The judges ruling at this point will be final and unless charges are formally filed, Randy will be free to leave the Czech Republic without condition on bail.

Randy Blythe has been detained in a Prague jail following the death of a fan over two years ago at a Lamb Of God concert. Randy Blythe is being held on manslaughter in relation to the fans death.

Updates to follow.

US Department Of State Says No Comment On Jailed LAMB OF GOD Singer

July 16th, 2012

LAMB OF GOD’s Alix Bryan reports:

More than two weeks have passed since LAMB OF GOD singer Randy Blythe was arrested in the Czech Republic on manslaughter charges. The case, involving a four-time Grammy nominated band, has become high profile for numerous reasons, especially as questions go unanswered and Blythe remains jailed despite putting up almost $200,000 US dollars in bail.

On Wednesday, on Facebook, the US Embassy released a very brief, non-committal statement regarding Blythe: “The US Embassy provides standard consular services to American citizens in need of assistance. We cannot discuss specific cases due to privacy concerns.”

Today CBS 6 reached out to several contacts; a Prague reporter who has been covering the case since the beginning, the US State Department, the manager for Lamb Of God, the Czech defense attorney, the US Embassy in the Czech Republic, and the US defense attorney that represents Lamb of God.

We had little luck with any Czech contacts—due to time zones and language barriers. We have left messages with both the Czech defense lawyer and the US defense attorney who will remain overseas until Saturday. No confirmation yet if that means Blythe could be released by then. Blythe’s wife is also in the Czech Republic with the attorney.

Noel Clay, spokesperson with the US Department of State, could not answer the specific question, “Were US authorities contacted by Czech police?” The question looms in the air as to how the band never knew that a fan had died and that the death was under investigation, with the band as suspects.

Czech police have said, at least to the Czech tabloid,, that they contacted US police about 18 months after the 2010 incident at Prague’s Club Abaton. According to Jonathan Crane, with the Prague Post, police confirmed they started investigating the death in 2010.

Official Statement from LAMB OF GOD Regarding Randy Blythe

July 7th, 2012

First of all, thanks to everyone who has reached out in support of Randy and each of us in this terrible situation. It’s noted and very much appreciated.

We have been keeping our heads down and not speaking out due to the fluid nature of the situation and the constantly changing information that even we receive daily.

Within an hour things can do endless 180’s. It’s maddening to try and make heads or tails.

We’re taking the time to speak to you as it has been a significant period of time since this situation began and while nothing is immediately clear to any of us, we are not trying to keep anyone in the dark.

We have reached out and are making use of the resources we have acquired to help our brother who is still detained in Czech jail.

In the two years since, we were never notified of anything related to this incident.

Randy is our brother and we assure you, we are all staying very positive for him, working endlessly behind the scenes to provide any and all assistance possible.

The best we can do is to stay positive and continue to support our friend that we know is innocent.

We know that justice will prevail and we will continue to do our part to support our friend.

LAMB OF GOD Frontman Reportedly Released From Czech Jail

June 30th, 2012

According to the Czech news site, LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe appeared in court shortly before 10 a.m. today for a hearing in connection with the death of a fan more than two years ago.

Blythe, who was arrested Wednesday (June 27) at the Prague airport on manslaughter charges, was reportedly released on 4 million Czech Koruna bail (approximately $200,000 — an amount which, according to the site, Randy claimed was the equivalent of his annual income). Since most banks are closed this weekend, Blythe will be allowed to pay off his bail on Monday (July 2). The singer, who did not speak at his hearing and was “timid as a lamb,” was considered a flight risk by the judge. Photos and video footage of Blythe in court show him wearing an OBITUARY sweatshirt and American flag hat. For safety reasons, he also had his shoelaces removed while he was in the pre-trial detention cell.

LAMB OF GOD guitarist Mark Morton — who, along with the rest of the band, is in Prague, tweeted a few hours ago, “Today just turned into a FANTASTIC day!!!”

Blythe, 41, who was represented by two lawyers in court, is accused of causing the fatal injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD’s May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The singer apparently either pushed or struck a 19-year-old fan named Daniel who had come on stage, and that person died 14 days later of bleeding in the brain.

According to WTVR-TV, another Czech online news site,, has published statements from a witness — a friend of the victim — who said the fan wasn’t using drugs or alcohol and fell back directly on his head. The victim lapsed into a coma and died two weeks later.

LAMB OF GOD was scheduled to perform on Thursday at the Rock Café in Prague with SKELETONWITCH and ALL SHALL PERISH but that show ended up getting canceled.

LAMB OF GOD’s publicist, Adrenaline PR, issued a statement yesterday stressing that “under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved [during LAMB OF GOD’s 2010 concert]. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.”

LAMB OF GOD: Randy Blythe Update

June 29th, 2012

LAMB OF GOD management will be issuing an official statement on Monday regarding the charges made against singer Randy Blythe. As no formal charges have yet been made and the case is only in the investigation stages, it would be premature to make an official statement filled with false truths or innuendos.

Having said that, management wished to address today one false piece of information that has been included in many of the news stories released so far. Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.

Again, until the investigation is concluded this weekend, nothing more will be released, but clarity and the facts needed to be addressed on this one reported point which is totally inaccurate.

Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe Arrested in Prague for Manslaughter

June 29th, 2012

Note: The band will not be preforming at Tuska Open Air. A possible replacement and changed schedule will be released later on the Tuska facebook and official site:

Lamb of God's Randy Blythe Arrested in Prague for Manslaughter

By Josiah HughesToday (June 28), some shocking news has broke concerning Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe, who has been arrested in Prague on manslaughter charges.

Reports are hazy at this point, but Metal Sucks points to a Czech news report from, who explain that Blythe was arrested over an incident that took place at a Lamb of God show in Prague on May 24, 2010.

In the alleged 2010 incident, a fan reportedly climbed up on stage and ended up getting in a physical altercation with Blythe. Later, the concertgoer in question succumbed to his or her injuries, according to the news report.

The recent Exclaim! cover stars were to headline a show tonight in Prague at the Rock Cafe with Skeletonwitch and All Shall Perish. However, Lamb of God have pulled out of the concert.

Metal Insider got in touch with Adrenaline PR, the company that manages Lamb of God, and were told that Blythe was “wrongfully accused,” adding that “lawyers are dealing with it, and we expect him to be fully exonerated.”

LAMB OF GOD‘s publicist, Adrenaline PR, issued a statement earlier today stressing that “under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved [during LAMB OF GOD‘s 2010 concert]. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.”

A Czech LAMB OF GOD fan who says that he attended the band’s 2010 concert in Prague, described the incident on Facebook as follows: “I’ve seen many bands in that club like DEVILDRIVER, HATEBREED, etc. and every metal fan in Prague knows that this is one of the ‘stage-diving-friendly’ clubs. HATEBREED and DEVILDRIVER were OK with that. The guy climbed on stage and Randy slapped him and the guy fell on the ground (NOT off the stage), [Randy] sang few words to his face and pushed him back and said that he is not OK with people on the stage. A murder? I dont think so…that hit wouldn’t kill you unless you’re made of glass.”

Randy‘s brother, Mark Blythe, told CBS-6 that he’s awaiting further details and said the charge is “bogus and outrageous and will be dropped immediately.”

Commented Willie: “It’s been a rough couple of days. All I can say is that I can’t recall that particular show let alone a fan being beaten on the stage. I think I would’ve noticed something like that considering the Dime [the 2004 murder of PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott] thing.”

He added, “We’re all still here in the Czech Republic awaiting what is to happen. We hope we’ll be able to get Randy out this afternoon. All our thoughts are with him as well as the family of the deceased fan. We’ve no real clue as to what happened to him, but we send our condolences. All we try to do is entertain; the fans are why we’re here. We would never try and harm anyone.”
