Although Vista Chino is a band name that some might be unfamiliar with, most of heavy metal and rock music admirers will recognize Kyuss.

After the former Kyuss members Brant Bjork, Nick Oliveri and John Garcia announced their reunion and had to face a lawsuit filed by other ex-members that would eventually keep them from using the original band name, all three musicians decided to move on as Vista Chino.

After releasing their first album Peace as Vista Chino, the band soon announced that they will be touring around Europe and on the 2nd of November, Metal-Rules.com team were privileged to witness Vista Chino tear up The Roundhouse alongside the energetic rock’n’roll outfit Monster Truck and making it one of the most memorable shows of 2013.

Vista Chino is an American band formed by the founding members of Kyuss – John Garcia (vocals), Brant Bjork (drums) and Nick Oliveri (bass). After setting out to reunite and tour as Kyuss Lives! back in 2010, the band was forced to rename themselves after a lawsuit filed by other former Kyuss members Josh Homme and Scott Reeder.

After few rather crazy years, the band has now moved on with a new name and a new album called Peace (released on the 3rd of September, 2013).

We caught up with the legendary drummer Brant Bjork just minutes before the Palm Desert Scene heroes Vista Chino (ex-Kyuss) were about to take the stage at London’s Roundhouse and talked about the band’s future and history, the new album and the development of stoner rock. KYUSS LIVES!/Ex-QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Bassist Charged With Four Felonies

August 13th, 2011

According to TMZ.com, former QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE/KYUSS and current KYUSS LIVES! bassist Nick Oliveri has been charged with four felonies and faces up to 15 years in prison stemming from his arrest last month in Hollywood after a five-hour standoff with police.

Nick Oliveri was booked on July 12 on felony domestic violence. The police was called to the scene by Oliveri’s neighbor who reported a “disturbance” between the 39-year-old rocker and his girlfriend. A standoff between a SWAT team and Nick ensued before Oliveri finally agreed to let his girlfriend exit the duplex.

Oliveri was taken into custody about 10:30 p.m. after Los Angeles police officers knocked down his front door.

Nick’s girlfriend reportedly told police Oliveri hit her during an argument the day before and she had returned to collect her stuff so she could move out.

During a search of Nick’s home on Hobart Boulevard, cops reportedly found a fully loaded high-powered rifle, cocaine and methamphetamines..

Oliveri is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer.

If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.

Oliveri was forced to miss several KYUSS LIVES! shows in Europe earlier this month due to his legal troubles. His temporary replacement was Scott Reeder (GOATSNAKE, THE OBSESSED, KYUSS).
