Swedish Viking Metallers KING OF ASGARD made an astonishing impact on the scene with their debut album Fi’mbulvintr, released in 2010. After playing a bunch of festivals and club shows in 2010 and 2011, KING OF ASGARD are now ready to unleash their second album …to North. Recorded at the infamous Sonic Train Studios with engineer Andy LaRocque (KING DIAMOND) at the helm …to North shows a band that has perfected it’s songwriting skills.

Swedish Viking Metallers KING OF ASGARD have finished recording their new album ‘…To North’! ‘…To North’ to be released in July!

Swedish Viking Metallers KING OF ASGARD made an astonishing impact on the scene with their debut album Fi’mbulvintr, released in 2010. After playing a bunch of festivals and club shows in 2010 and 2011, KING OF ASGARD have now finished recording their second album …To North at the infamous Sonic Train Studios with engineer Andy LaRocque (KING DIAMOND) at the helm.

Comments bassist Jonas Albrektsson on the recording process and what to expect from …To North: “The “…To North” master just arrived and it sounds astonishing! Andy LaRocque made a great job on the production and the mastering along with Olof Berggren. It’s upright and powerful. We feel very proud of what we achieved on this recording and merely the sound of it makes it a worthy follow-up to the firstborn “Fi’mbulvintr”. Songs and sounds came out much as of what we planned, with power and a great variety. “…To North” takes off pretty much where “Fi’mbulvintr” left off so to say, with a natural development, more varied songs and structures. It’s a development of our sound which will be recognized by old fans as well as bring some new ones to the horde. This time around I’ve been more involved in the writing process along with Karl, which kind of shines through, giving the songs a wider perspective. Expect some very strong songs on “…To North”, where epic meets with brutality! The lyrical theme this time is basically in the same vein but has different twists. Not as obvious as before. “…To North” will make The Nine Worlds Burn… and Varberg was just left behind.”

First song titles include ‘Gap Of Ginnungs’, ‘Plague-Ridden Rebirth’, ‘Nordvegr’, ‘Upon The Mountain’ and ‘The Nine Worlds Burn’.

…To North – the first KING OF ASGARD album featuring second guitar player Lars Tängmark – will be released in July 2012.

Swedish Viking Metallers KING OF ASGARD made an astonishing impact on the scene with their debut album Fi’mbulvintr, released in 2010. After playing a bunch of festivals and club shows in 2010 and 2011, KING OF ASGARD are fully busy in writing the follow-up album!

The writing process is in its finishing stages even though there is more to be done and more to be polished. The recording will once again be held at the Sonic Train Studios with engineer Andy LaRocque.

Comments the band: “We’re glad to get back there in early March and to get some new stuff on tape. This also being the first time recording with Lars on guitar. The material for this coming release is a natural step forward for KING OF ASGARD. It differs quite a lot though the foundation of our musical roots still are very present. A natural progression of the sounds on ‘Fi’mbulvintr’! Song titles include ‘Gap Of Ginnungs’ and ‘Plague-ridden Rebirth’!”

In other news KING OF ASGARD are confirmed for the Ragnarök Festival taking place April 13-14 in Lichtenfels, Germany.

KING OF ASGARD comments on the video:

“The “Einhärjar” music video was recorded in July 2010, directed by Richard Moneus, the driving force behind the production company 1897. It was shot in an old dirty barn at a location just outside where we live. Spending what felt like ages in the old dusty room was well worth the sweat and blood. After the barn battleground, Richard took care of the hard work to cut, edit and piece it all together in a functioning symbiosis. Now, viewing the final result we are extremely proud of how good this video turned out. Hell yeah, Richard!”

‘Fi’mbulvintr’ was recorded in March and April of 2010 in Varberg, Sweden at Andy LaRoqcue’s (King Diamond) Sonic Train Studios. Andy also engineered and co-produced the album.

KING OF ASGARD took form in 2008 by founder Karl Beckman (ex-Mithotyn) after dissolving his latest musical projects. Teaming up with long time absent fellow worker, Karsten Larsson (Falconer, ex-Mithotyn). As a result, after years apart, the decision was made to go back to their roots both musically as well as heading for their Norse heritage in lyrical approach. In late 2009 J. Albrektsson joined the ranks on bass to strengthen the line-up further.
