Glenn “The Voice Of Rock” Hughes is an English rock bassist and vocalist, best known from his work with Deep Purple, Tony Iommi and funk rock pioneers Trapeze. Hughes also maintains a notable solo career including 12 studio albums and he’s been an active session musician and a member in various projects. Between 2009 and 2014 he fronted the supergroup Black Country Communion which also featured guitarist Joe Bonamassa, drummer Jason Bonhan and keyboardist Derek Sherinian. On April 2016, Hughes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Deep Purple. Currently Hughes is working his first solo album in 8 years. He’s also working Black Country Communion re-union which is going to happen next year. I met a good humoured Hughes in Swedenrock in early June and here is a summary of our discussion which includes a new album, Black Country reunion and many other interesting topics. Read on!

Anton Fig is a South African / American drummer who is best known for his work David Letterman’s house band, the CBS Orchestra. Fig has been the drummer on Letterman’s television shows since 1986. During this period Fig played with such artists as Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Winwood and Tony Bennett. The CBS Orchestra has also backed up a host of artists in other venues. They played in Hall of Fame ceremonies and with B.B. King at the closing ceremonies of the summer 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Fig is also a well-known session drummer. He has recorded with such names as Mick Jagger, Gary Moore, Madonna, Joe Satriani, Paul Putterfield, Sebastian Bach and Michael Monroe. In 1978 he played on KISS guitarist Ace Frehley’s solo debut. He replaced Peter Criss on the KISS albums DYNASTY and UNMASKED, and later on he appeared on several Frehley’s albums including FREHLEY’COMET, LIVE+1, TROUBLE WALKIN and ANOMALY. In May 2015, David Letterman announced his retirement, and the last episode of the show aired on the 20th of May. Fig soon joined in the ranks of Joe Bonamassa’s band, with whom he had already worked with for close to 10 years on different occasions. I met a good-humored Anton in Helsinki last October when the Joe Bonamassa band visited Helsinki. Anton Fig (born Cape Town, South Africa), is well-known session drummer and a longtime member of the CBS Orchestra, appearing nightly on Late Show with David Letterman. During this tenure he has played with scores of great artists including Miles Davis, James Brown and Bruce Springsteen. The CBS Orchestra has backed up a host of artists in other venues such as Little Richard, Lauren Hill and also BB King at the closing ceremonies of the summer Olympic Games in Atlanta (1996). The CBS Orchestra is also the house band for the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. During the years Anton has made countless recordings with such artists as: Mick Jagger, Madonna, Joe Cocker, Gary Moore, Michael Monroe, Joan Armatrading, Blackmore’s Night and Joe Bonamassa among many others. In 1978 Anton was asked to play on KISS guitarist Ace Frehley’s solo album. That co-operation lead Anton to make recording sessions with KISS with whom Anton recorded albums DYNASTY (1979) and UNMASKED (1980). He was a member of Ace Frehley’s band Frehley’s Comet from 1984-1987 and later on he has played on numerous Ace’s solo albums including the latest release ANOMALY (2009). Well, there’s been, and is still, so much going on with this man career so it’s better to let the man himself to tell what he’s up to and of course it’s interesting to learn something about the past and future as well… Read on!
