Sabaton Vocalist Joakim Brodén

Like many here in North America, I only discovered Sabaton sometime in 2008 with their glorious album THE ART OF WAR. Their spin on the power metal style was, and remains, refreshing. Not that I don’t love the mighty warrior dragon wizard stuff as well, but I’ve always been interested in history and especially fascinated by World War II. So after hearing Sabaton sing about WWII and other wars and conflicts, the mixture of history and metal was a winning combination. With Sabaton’s 2010 release COAT OF ARMS the band continues on the same path honing some amazingly catchy and memorable anthems. I had the opportunity to speak with the voice of Sabaton, Joakim Brodén, in late July 2010. We spoke about the band’s image, and about war and how it is more than just history. It is something that should be studied not to memorize specific dates, but to learn from what has happened so that the same things will not happen again.
