Interviewed by: Anders Sandvall

Thanks to Emil Westerdahl at Inner Wound Recordings for setting up the interview.
Thanks to Inner Wound Recordings for the promo pictures of the band.
Live and more photos of the band are from the bands website

If you like well executed power metal with some great vocals, then Power Quest is a band for you. Recently the guys released their sixth album titled SIXTH DIMENSION. The band re-united back in 2016 and SIXTH DIMENSION is the first album since the reunion and also the first studio album since 2011. Me and the original band member/leader and keyboard player Steve Williams hooked up to have a chat about what has happened in the Power Quest camp during the past years. During the bands hiatus, Williams joined forces with Eden’s Curse, so of course I thought we should examine that matter a little closer. Besides that, I also asked him what he and the band thought of being on the road and visiting Sweden, Japan and the US for the first time. If you’re interested in reading some in-depth info about the band, its history, and what they’re up to in 2018 then continue reading…

BEYOND THE HUMAN MIND is the name of the second album from the Brazilian metal act Vandroya. The album is a concept piece and what the album is about is handled down below in the interview so if you’re interested in what the band has to offer this time continue reading. It has taken the band quite a few years to follow up the debut album ONE (2013) and that was one of the questions we handled. I hooked up with vocalist Daisa Munhoz and drummer Otávio Nunez which was kind to take on this quite long interview and when opportunity knocked I decided to ask Daisa some questions about her involvement in the metal opera SoulSpell.

Keyboardplayer and original member Jonah W – Pyramaze

Interviewed by: Anders Sandvall
Thanks to Emil Westerdahl at Inner Wound Recordings for setting up the interview.
Thanks to Inner Wound Recordings for the promo pictures of the band.

The brand new Pyramaze album is a concept album titled CONTINGENT; it’s the band’s fifth album so far. The album was unleashed in Europe and North America at the end of April and is jammed with some intense progressive metal songs. This time around I had the pleasure of talking to keyboardist and original member Jonah Weingarten and he opened up about the process of making the album, the past and present members, as well as some more personal stuff. The band performed at Prog Power USA last year in a special show where current singer Terje Haroy teamed with previous singers Lance King and Matt Barlow; of course I had to ask what it was like to perform with the two previous singers again. In October this year the band is going to perform at Prog Power Europe in The Netherlands so we talked about the band’s expectations regarding the up-coming one time only show. If you’re interested in the band and its history, check out the previous interview I’ve done with infamous producer/guitar and bass player Jacob Hansen.

The album is jammed with some excellent cinematic/symphonic metal and is the continuation where the last album BEHIND THE BLACK VEIL left off. The album contains vocals from some new acquaintances as well as from Manuela Kraller who participated on the debut album BEHIND THE BLACK VEIL. What Heidi has been up to since the last time we spoke, the pledge campaign, the cover art by Jan Yrlund, and if it was hard to write the follow up and the future of the band were the things we talked about. We also talked about why Finland doesn’t like female metal….read more about what Heidi has to say down below.

revenia_interview_2016_promo_2

From Finland comes Ravenia, a symphonic/film-score metal (according to them) act that released their debut album BEYOND THE WALLS OF DEATH at the end of April 2016. When I listened to the album I thought it sounded like the soundtrack to a fantasy movie and was nothing like I’d ever heard before. That woke up my curiosity and I decided to get to know more about the band by contacting singer Armi Päivinen to ask if she’d like to conduct an interview. Besides the usual instrumental line up, the band also contains a string section which feels really unusual for a metal act. Armi and I talked about the album, the future for the band as well as their label, Inner Wound Records. If you want to have a somewhat unexpected musical experience then check out Ravenia. The review of BEYOND THE WALLS OF DEATH is also available on Metal-Rules.com.

The album was mixed by the famous Tommy Hansen with art work by Jan Yrlund and is jammed with epic songs perfect for fans of Delain, Nightwish and Kamelot.

Finnish vocalist Heidi Parviainen (ex- Amberian Dawn) recently released an album with her new band Dark Sarah. The album is called BEHIND THE BLACK VEIL and it ought to appeal to fans of symphonic goth/metal. The album came to life thanks to crowd funding on Indie a Go Go and was recorded in three separate parts which later became the album. We talked about the album, the guest appearances, and the on going process with releasing the album. The first video from the disc came two years ago so I guess Heidi was glad to finally unleash her work to the fans and the world. Read more about her journey below.

STRANGERS IN PARADISE is the name of the bands’ second album, which was released at the end of last year. I was curious to know more about the band, and if you read on, you’ll see what Thunder had to say. One of the things we spoke about was why the band headed over to Frankfurt, Germany to record the album with the famous producer/musician Dennis Ward.
