INCANTATION Reveal Artwork and Track Listing for Vanquish in Vengeance

October 11th, 2012

US death metal pioneers INCANTATION have revealed the cover art and track listing for their anticipated new album, Vanquish in Vengeance.

The long-awaited followup to 2006′s Primordial Domination, Vanquish in Vengeance carries a recurring lyrical theme that addresses the countless acts of genocide in the name of religion throughout our history. Guitarist/vocalist John McEntee comments:

“The title track is about the massacre of Saxons in the town of Verdun in 782, called on by order of King Charlemagne. As an album title it has a different meaning to me. Vanquish in Vengeance symbolizes the long history of the band. We have fought many battles over the years to keep things going. We have always stayed true to our original vision and have never caved into trends. After a long wait between albums we are back with a vengeance with some of our darkest and heaviest material to date.”

Vanquish in Vengeance was recorded at Mars Studio with Bill Korecky and mixed by Dan Swano at Unisound Studios.

INCANTATION Comments On Recent Tour; Reveals New Album Title

August 24th, 2012

After a successful trek through Brazil with IMMOLATION and European summer festival campaign, death metal pioneers INCANTATION are back in the U.S. to wrap up work on their long-awaited eighth album. The band had this to say about the tour:

Guitarist/vocalist John McEntee: “I would like to thank everyone on behalf of INCANTATION for making this festival run our most successful to date. To get the opportunity to play for so many diehard death metal fans was absolutely amazing. We are especially thankful to all our supporters for giving us a warm welcome at all the festivals, you guys were amazing and totally raging every day. Most of all we would like to thank Sam Inzerra [Mortician / Funerus] for doing a phenomenal job filling in for Kyle  on drums. Without you this run would probably not be able to happen.”

Bassist Chuck Sherwood: “To the hoards of thousands that littered the fests of this past run. Old friends and new, brothers whom we shared a stage, and the  unmatched support of the staff of each fest respectively. It’s my hope that our performance reflected the metal rage that you gave us, Hails!’

Live footage of INCANTATION performing at Motocultor Festival 2012 in France has been posted at this location.

In other news, the band has revealed that their forthcoming release will be a concept album entitled Vanquish in Vengeance. Expect a November release via Listenable Records.

McEntee comments: “The title track is about the massacre of Saxons in the town of Verdun in 782, called on by order of King Charlemagne. As an album title it has a different meaning to me. Vanquish in Vengeance symbolizes the long history of the band. We have fought many battles over the years to keep things going. After a long wait between albums we are back with a vengeance with some of our darkest and heaviest material to date.”

INCANTATION Announces European Dates

July 16th, 2012

THE MASTERS OF DEATH ARE BACK! Europe prepares for the return of one of North America’s most blasphemous and unholy death metal bands as INCANTATION will once again invade European territory this August for a series of festival dates.
8/10 – Brutal Assault (Czech)
8/11 – Party.San (Germany)
8/12 – Ieper Fest (Belgium)
8/13 -Tilburg (Holland) “Little Devil”
8/14 – Essen (Germany) “Turock”
8/17 – Motocultor Fest (France)
8/18 – SummerBreeze (Germany)

The band comments - “As we are still in the mists of the recording process for our 8th and latest studio full length, which will be released through Listenable Records, we will make the short run to play some of Europe’s most brutal festivals. We are honored to have been asked to play these amazing fests this year, we will be playing some new tracks from the upcoming new release later this year, as well as our classics. We just toured Brazil and the response for the new material was horns held high and an outbreak of death metal overload!!!

It has been brought to our attention [that there has been] interest in INCANTATION playing additional shows/fests in August, but unfortunately were not able to play any more Euro festivals at this time. The aforementioned shows are all we have agreed to play. Of course, we are disappointed not to be able to play every show asked , but extremely happy to be playing the shows we are. Due to recording obligations and ( lack of) booking details, time restraints [will prevent] us from being able to play all of them. I would personally like to apologize to any organizers that might have been mislead into thinking we were playing, and thank all of you for the continues support of INCANTATION!!!!”

Members of INCANTATION Speak Out

March 9th, 2012

Members of US death metal pioneers Incantation have issued a number of statements regarding the status of their long-awaited upcoming release and the unfortunate passing of former bass player, Joey “Fingers” Lombard.

On the new album…

“I have known John McEntee for about 23 years now. I am going back to a time when there was only a handful of us that played our dark extreme secret music.Things have changed since then and there is a much larger audience, but the hunger is still there for us to create the darkest extreme songs we can come up with. Incantation is one of the oldest bands who wave that dark sinister flag proudly. It is awesome after all these years to now be playing and writing together with John on the new material. I am more then confident that the new Incantation record is going to crush your skulls. In my opinion this is one of the band’s darkest and most brutal collection of songs to date and it is my my honor and privilege to be working with two of death metals fineset players in Kyle Severn and Chuck Sherwood.Unleash the blood of the goat!” - Alex Bouks

We are currently working on our new album , which we have about 80% finished. We have a lot more ideas to work on. I am very happy with the way things are coming together. Kyle, Chuck, Alex and I have killer songwriting chemistry and there is such a high quality of musicianship. This is an amazingly strong line up that truely understands the essence of Incantation’s music. Watch out for the new album this year and a list of a few festival performances will be announced soon.- John McEntee

On the tragic death of former bassist Joey “Fingers” Lombard who passed away on January 3rd, 2012…

As most of you know, the Incantation family has been dealing with the tragic loss of our former bassist and friend Joey “Fingers” Lombard. It’s still really difficult to believe that Joey is gone. He was truly a great guy and an awesome and dedicated bandmember. Joey’s contribution to the band will never be forgotten. We are fortunate to have written a lot of music with him, so in songs his legacy will live on.  Please understand this is a really hard time for the Incantation family and friends along with the Lombard family. Thanks for all the tributes and condolences for Joey, it really means a lot to us. - John McEntee

“I wanted to Thank everyone for their condolences for our fallen brother in metal and great friend Joey” Fingers” Lombard. Joey was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Joey had stepped up to the plate and joined John McEntee and myself back in 2000 to create some of Incantations finest Blasphemy to date!!! He stuck with us for 5 plus long years of writing and traveling the death metal roads!! He was an amazing musician and bass player. He had contributed more than most could imagine to the death metal scene. He had made many new friends through those years on the road, he was such a likable guy. I don’t think he had a mean bone in his body. He will be truly missed. 666 Horns to my Fallen Brother of Metal…” – Kyle Severn

Bassist Chuck Sherwood also chimed in about Incantation’s recent appearance at the Gathering of the Bestial Legion…

“Forward into battle again we arrived at the Iron Room of the Echoplex in LA sharing a stage with the likes of many renowned and respectable bands. Our set encompassed our whole catalog of hellish mayhem which was received well by the 700+ who attended. Amazing and energetic crowd that makes LA such a intense location. With the terrible loss of a war brother namely Joe Lombard the whole band felt it was only fitting to dedicate not just Hailed Babylon (which Joe had his hands in forging) but the whole set to his memory. I think that I speak for all that the loss was great. I personally hope this honored him in true metal fashion. Autopsy whom we haven’t witnessed since Holland’s own Neurotic Deathfest were nothing short of amazing. Their delivery of old classics and new material proved once again that they still hold the banner high for death metal. Next, Divine Eve, after two years since our tour together came to LA. Definitely killer to cross paths again which I think was shared by all in both bands. They slaughtered the crowd with their performance of a full spectrum, unique style that only they can pull off with such grace. Their new drummer is an excellent addition that only added to their ferocious nature. HOD from TX with their new drummer as well, which I never saw before that night proved that they’re as tight and powerful as they’ve ever been. And of course Acheron who’s blasphemy spread like a sulfuric wave that crashed on the west coast that night. We were surrounded by a gang of heathens that formed the LA Crew that helped us through every step of the way. Whether it was paying our respects to Ronnie James Dio’s grave or visiting the house that was filmed for the original Halloween it was an amazing time had by all. A long standing memory will now be burned into my brain of Vince from Acheron climbing into one of the open sarcophagi at the cemetery. Or when Beer from HOD stage-dove during Divine Eve’s set. Great times had by all! Looking forward to our new conquest which should bring us into the studios soon. Hails to everyone involved, old comrades and new, that made LA such a success!”

As Incantation continues to work hard on new material in hopes for a 2012 release, the band has released something to tide fans over in the form of a brand new track (the first studio release in 6 years) as part of the After Party Massacre CD Soundtrack and  Limited Edition 7 Inch Bloodsplatter Vinyl –  click here to hear a sample of the track!

Along with the new Incantation material, Kyle has also finished up with his first foray into the cinema realm with a new horror/slasher movie called After Party Massacre. Co-written/co-directed with Kristoff Bates (of Horrormerch.com), this slasher starts with live performances by Incantation and Soulless, which then takes a deadly turn after the bands are finished as this UNRATED movie is filled with blood, scantly clad female flesh and lots of death metal!

INCANTATION Announce Polish Tour

April 13th, 2011

Following their performance at the opening day of this year’s Neurotic Death Fest (April 29th), death metal pioneers Incantation are set to to invade Poland this spring for their first headlining run of the country. The tour runs from May 1st – May 8th and will also feature Polish black metallers Christ Agony. Incantation founder/frontman and Ibex Moon Records head honcho John McEntee issued the following statement:

“With great honor we are proud to announce that we are doing our first headlining tour of Poland. Our first time playing Poland was back in 2007 as part of the Blitzkrieg 4 Tour 2007 with the killer line up of Vader, Krisiun , Rotting Christ and my other band Funerus. This will be the first time we can play our full sent for all of our long time diehard Polish supporters, something we have been looking forward to for many years.

Poland has always been good to us. From the band’s inception back in 1989 we have always had massive support for the Polish underground, but have had lots of problems making it over there to preform for one reason or another. Finally over 20 years after the formation of the band we will do our first headlining tour. It will be great to see our old school friend along with many new fans alike.

The tour will be with the legendary Polish band Christ Agony. This is one of Poland’s greatest and most well-respected bands. Anyone that knows anything about the Polish underground black death metal scene will agree. It will be great to play along side them every night!

We look forward to seeing all you sick Polish Incantation supporters. We have a great set list that we are working on for the tour and we can’t wait to spill our guts out for you guys every night.

Also, some of the Polish shows will be recorded (video and audio) and if the recordings quality comes out good we hope to use them for a live record and DVD sometime late this year.

With all this great Polish news I also want to say that we are also playing the Neurotic Death Fest this year and it is a absolute honor to be apart of this amazing fest. We want to thanks the promoter for including us on this awesome fest. Along side some of my personal favorite bands! We look forward to seeing all our Dutch supporters there, it will be a kick ass time.”

In other news, Incantation drummer Kyle Severn recently debuted his gore-filled horror film Afterparty Massacre. Afterparty Massacre was written and filmed by Kyle and Horrormerch.com’s Kristoff. The film features music and performances from Incantation and comes with a soundtrack showcasing many of death metal’s most brutal acts; including Cardiac Arrest, Gravehill, Fatalist and many more. Afterparty Massacre is one killer party with mind-blowing amounts of blood, metal and flesh! Visit the film’s Facebook page or www.afterpartymassacre.com for details.

INCANTATION To Play Neurotic Deathfest 2011

March 7th, 2011

US death metal pioneers Incantation have recently been added to the already stacked line up for this year’s Neurotic Deathfest, which runs April 29th & 30th in Tilburg, Netherlands. Drummer Kyle Severn gave the following statement:

“On behalf of myself and Incantation, we would like to announce that we have just been added to the greatest indoor European death metal fest line up that we have ever seen. Yes, I’m talking about this year’s Neurotic Deathfest in Holland. Incantation is honored to share the stage again with the almighty Autopsy, as well as the return of At The Gates, and other metal legends like Obituary, and new metallers of the 2K-era Hail Of Bullets. We plan to play a very obscure set in honor of this amazing line up and for our very supportive fans, old school and new alike. With a well rounded fest lineup bound together with leather and spikes, you will not want to miss this Incantation setlist, which is already a making in the metal history. We are riding the metal storm out with the same line up as we had this time last year when we successfully spread blasphemy across Europe during our headlining tour for the highly respected 7” EP “ScapeGoat” with Alex Bouks ( Goreaphobia, Master) guitars, Chuck Sherwood ( Blood Storm) bass, John McEntee on guitar and vokills and myself skinsmans Kyle Severn on the drums….Kyle666″

INCANTATION Members Comment On Decibel Hall Of Fame Shows

December 3rd, 2010

After a string of successful shows commemorating the recent induction of their 1991 classic, Onward To Golgotha into Decibel’s Hall Of Fame, members of INCANTATION have made the following statements thanking fans and friends for their continued support.

“Hi, yes we would like to thank everyone for the support. We had a great time! Incantation fans are the best and we look forward to seeing you guys next time on tour”. – John (McEntee, guitar/vocals)

“Hello friends and metallers. I would like to personally thank all my friends and everybody that came out this past weekend to support Incantation. We traveled some serious miles to bring all of you the best live Incantation shows to date. It was an honor to play for you the album that helped create the path for what Incantation is today. Playing the Onward To Golgotha songs were a pleasure and from the crowd response, I’m glad you liked it as well as we did playing it. And for those of you who got to hear our new unreleased material for the up and coming movie soundtrack for After Party Massacre it was again a great feeling to hear you tell us that it’s some of the best Incantation you’ve ever heard. Amazing response, THANK YOU!!! I would like to thank Albert and all of the Decibel Magazine metal crew, Dan from Pantheon Agency, the local promoters in Chicago, NYC and Cleveland, Funerus, Fatalist, Cardiac Arrest, Mortician, Embalmer, Soulless, the best Incantation working crew their ever could be, ‘My Neighbors’ Driver John, Evl, Kristoff, and Anderson, most importantly John McEntee, Alex Bouks, Chuck Sherwood, Jill McEntee, Sam Inzerra and everybody else that was involved to make this happen!! As you may have heard we recorded this weekend audio and video, so look for this amazing blasphemous metal weekend to be available on DVD so it can be remembered forever!!!! Hail Fuckin’ Metal!!!”

- Kyle Severn (drums)

“Just got home from a great few days and very tiring time. I want to thank all the fans and Albert and Decibel for making this all happen; especially everyone from NY who stuck around to make that show happen. Cheers” – Alex (Bouks, guitar)

“Many killer memories and also some real insane moments that’ll forever be carved into our memories from this Onward to Golgotha trifecta of metal assault! The first show took place at the Reggie’s Rock Club after merging with Funerus and Fatalist we were welcomed by the hellish maniacs who attended that night. Cardiac Arrest was a true sight to behold with their unrelenting rage and force. Great to share a stage with those grinding, churning, malevolent purveyors of metal yet again. The staff and everyone at the Reggie’s Rock Club were brilliant. Re-introducing or reuniting with friends from Cult of Daath, Ezurate, Cyanide and our other friends and comrades who made the trek to come and show their support. It was great to share a stage and or see you all again! Our new mage of the stage, sound guy namely a John “Evl” Sustar was great at providing his talents to make for a killer show. Also his expertise came through with his amazing recording of the three shows which is sure to surface. Through the set of the first release which is the whole intent of these shows we also played some other tracks from the lengthy career of the project which were hopefully taken as we intended. With nothing but torturous metal energy!! From there we left for the long journey to NY’s own Europa club. Aside from the new found camaraderie of our plethora of ‘Johns.’ Merch guy, number 2 of 4, John ‘Mr.’ Anderson keep our sprits high with his technique of cutting off impatient commuters in ‘The City.’ The 15+ hours on the road there (with little to no sleep) made my mind wonder to a scene in In the Mouth of Madness where the very road beneath the car would disappear to storm clouds and lightning. All of us persevered to a very rushed but successful show with the mighty Mortician sharing a stage with us for total of a little over an hour. Fatalist however who traveled from California wasn’t so fortunate when they were notified they wouldn’t be playing that night due to time constraints of an early end and a ‘double dipping’ situation having both a show and dance club on the same night. Our sympathies go out to them for although the events that transpired were out of our hands, long travels and miscommunication reigned indefinitely. The metal merchants which included Jim and Craig of the original Golgothaline up, Richard Christy, and many others who came out to support were a standing tribute to the dedication and ardent nature of metal. We salute you all, and thank you for making the night memorable. After a frenzy of equipment and merch whirlwinded from the Europa, we found ourselves back in the vans making miles yet again back to Cleveland. With our John 3 of 4, ‘Driver John’ Williams put forth an effort that shamed most, by hauling us and the gear for eleven-hour stints and just pushing himself to the limit. We finally arrive in Cleveland to a great start when Embalmer took the stage followed by thrash masters Soulless who after their 2nd song were abruptly stopped by a power outage that lasted what seemed like forever. After almost two hours of darkness the mood had turned from boredom to rage when Fatalist hit the stage crushing the audience before their immediate departure back home. Funerus was to follow pulverizing the audience yet again. With the whole of the show and the entire weekend for that matter Kristoff who took time from his busy schedule of shooting After Party Massacre, not to mention his horrormerch.com business. He and his camera were to follow documenting the trip, the insanity, and the violent barrage of metal that took place. Also to mention Kristoff’s footage will be an official Onward to Golgotha: Weekend With Incantation DVD set, for next years release. Many hails to his flurry of paparazzi moments and all of the hard work he put into each show. In conclusion, the first album personally speaking was a mind altering experience back in the early 90′s when I was a foot shorter and much more a novice to legendary death metal acts such as the one I’m now proud to be a part of. With a line-up of such insane musicianship and talent that made the Onward to Golgotha album I could only hope that the past three shows paid homage to them and kept the flames of their legacy burning bright. A strange situation in a way to find this said album being herald into a hall of fame when it was only such, to the minds of those whom came into contact with it. Amongst the 15-18 year-olds back then (myself included) who treated this album as a time honored piece, never could imagine such a thing. Hails to everyone who was involved and whom we’ve met while out for the three show run this past weekend. Till our next meeting.”

- Chuck (Sherwood, bass)
