After months of anticipation, the highly acclaimed new full-length IN THIS MOMENT album, A Star-Crossed Wasteland, is now available in stores everywhere. Chris Howorth (guitars) checks in with the following Mayhem Fest report: “After only two days of Mayhem Fest performances I can confidently say this is the most fun we have ever had on a tour. The crowds are massive and so pumped up for music. The first show in San Bernardino was a hell of a kickoff and there had to be over 10,000 people going ape shit. There were people waving t- shirts that were on fire and some guy was shooting off fireworks in the middle of our mosh pit. It was pure Mayhem indeed. The second show in Mountain View was just as crazy. We were the headliner of the second stage and although we were a bit nervous at first we couldn’t believe how many people stayed to watch us headline and to keep it interesting Maria jumped into the crowd and incited a huge circle pit around the front of house tent. It was certainly a sight to behold.

“We are beyond excited for the rest of the tour. We are doing exclusive signings every day at the Century Media/Metal Army booth and we can’t wait to meet everyone. Mayhem Fest kicks so much ass it’s hard to put it into words, so just come out and let all these bands kick your ass. On a side note our bus buddies Norma Jean turned out to be an outstanding group of guys and we are having a blast hanging out with them every day. Our new CD comes out today and we are really excited for everyone to hear our new stuff. Rock on!”

Chris Howorth (guitars) checks in with the following report: “As I write this we are currently nine days from the start of the Mayhem Fest. We have been holed up in our rehearsal studio for the last two weeks working on all the new songs and putting together our set list. We have dialed in a pretty brutal set comprised of songs from our first album and our new CD. We can’t wait to unleash these songs on the Mayhem crowd every day. Over the last two days we have also done a live performance for Fuel TV and an acoustic performance/interview for Revolver TV. Both performances went great and we were stoked that our good friend Adrian Patrick from Otherwise flew in to perform the song ‘The Promise’ with us at both events. It was crazy seeing a dude on stage singing with us, but it was also a really cool change from the norm.

“Maria and Adrian are singing this duet together and playing off each other so it’s really dramatic. Also, on a really cool side note, Adrian is planning to follow the Mayhem tour to perform ‘The Promise’ with us each day, so fans will get to see the song performed just like it is on the album all summer. We are releasing a new song called ‘Just Drive’ today and it’s one of Maria’s and my favorite songs from the album. It’s a driving up tempo song with an epic chorus and aggressive guitar work. We can’t wait for fans to hear it. We love you guys and will see you at Mayhem Fest!”

It’s taken the band ten years but Holland’s Within Temptation is finally getting some long-overdue exposure here in North America.  Their fifth album, THE HEART OF EVERYTHING, is being released domestically in July on Roadrunner Records and the band also just landed a string of dates supporting Lacuna Coil through May and June.

Speaking with vocalist Sharon Den Adel prior Within Temptation’s show in Montreal on May 13th, I got her thoughts on the band’s first trip to our shores, “The Hottest Chicks In Metal” tour, comparisons to Evanescence and the influence of Celtic music on her band.
