SKELETONS is the name of the smoking hot debut album from Blood Label. Blood Label is a Danish death/thrash metal act that includes members from Hatesphere, Dawn Of Demise and The Burning. I had a sit down with singer Kenneth Klitte Jensen and drummer Bastian Thusgaard and together we handled subjects like the work with SKELETONS, the bands past present and future and how it was to work with legendary producer Tue Madsen. If you’re curious how the metal scene in Denmark is doing, check out the interview below.

Denmark’s deadliest thrash metal weapon Hatesphere released their 8th album last year called MURDERLUST. I had the amazing opportunity to talk to the only remaining original member guitarist/band leader Pepe and together we handled subjects like the new album, the co-operation with legendary producer Tue Madsen and the line-ups that have come and gone amongst other things. Enjoy!

The infamous Danish institution responsible for delivering the heaviest of riffs unleashes its latest album “The Great Bludgeoning”: a merciless and brutal inferno that will leave a trail of destruction in its wake. Guitarist and mastermind Peter “Pepe” Hansen and his accomplices confirm the band’s supremacy and reach new heights with blistering tracks, such as “Venom”, “Need to Kill”, and “Smell of Death”. High-speed riffs, furious solos, and grueling drums are the foundation of HateSphere’s sound, in which technical prowess and appeal brilliantly unite. Esben “Esse” Hansen, the new man on the mic, emerges as a driving force, using his aggressive vocals to push the band even further. As a result of this perfectly balanced cooperation, HateSphere delivers a compact and uncompromising album that will outflank even the band’s previous classic releases. The ultimate Danish thrash death metal manifestation!

Peter “Pepe” Hansen explains the album:

“We have aimed the new album in a more old-school direction than its predecessor. With people this experienced joining the band it has been a very relaxed and enjoyable process to write the songs, and we have all agreed on the concept. More metal and everything that follows. The cover, the title and the lyrics speaks for themselves. We are an angry-sounding metal band, and we have no intention of denying that. That’s why the cover is more back-to-the-roots and the lyrics are again about aggressions, drinking and hate. The things that HateSphere has always been about. Expect brutality, melody and groove in just the right dose. We have had one hell of a time writing and recording it, and we cant wait to present the album to all of you before long!”

The album is produced by Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Sick Of It All, Dark Tranquillity), and the cover artwork is by Mircea Gabriel Eftemie, who has worked with Soilwork, Strapping Young Lad and Mnemic.

The tracklist is as follows:

01. The Killer 3:31

02. Venom 6:08

03. Smell Of Death 3:43

04. Decayer 4:54

05. The Wail Of My Threnode 1:16

06. Resurrect With A Vengeance 4:20

07. The Great Bludgeoning 4:34

08. Need To Kill 5:27

09. Devil In Your Own Hell 3:00

The band will play songs from the album when they headline the Headbangers Ball Tour through Denmark in September 2011. More tour dates in the rest of Europe will follow shortly. Keep yourself updated at www.hatesphere.com or www.facebook.com/hatesphere666

HATESPHERE announces new bass player & MTV Headbangers Ball Tour

May 27th, 2011

After several months HateSphere is now ready to announce their new bass player, Jimmy Nedergaard (from Gob Squad) and a string of Danish shows with MTV Headbangers Ball Tour during September 2011.

HateSphere is currently working on their 7th album which will be released via Napalm Records mid-September, 2011. Tue Madsen and HateSphere will begin the recordings on June 13th in the Antfarm Studio, Aarhus, Denmark.

MTV Headbangers Ball Tour:

09-09-2011: Posten, Odense

10-09-2011: Voxhall, Aarhus

16-09-2011: Studenterhuset, Aalborg

17-09-2011: Fermaten, Herning

23-09-2011: Badeanstalten, Slagelse

24-09-2011: The Rock, Copenhagen

30-09-2011: Tobakken, Esbjerg

01-10-2011: Godset, Kolding

Jimmy Nedergaard comments:

“I’ve been a fan of HateSphere for a long time, so of course I had to audition.

Both their music and the energy they put in their work appeals to me, and our future plans for HateSphere are the same, so it seems obvious to me, to work and play with these guys.”

Hatesphere comments:

“Finding a new bass player showed not to be as easy, as we had hoped but our patience luckily paid off. Being a metal head but coming from a punk rock background, Jimmy fits our profile perfectly. He knows what he is going into, he shares our visions with the band, he has tried something different than metal but still has it deep in his heart, and last but not least he’s a great guy. Fitting in personally means a lot to us, so Jimmy’s age and experience has made him the perfect choice. We have already played our first live show with him, partied with him and involved him in the writing process of the new songs, so he has had a busy start – just as we want it.”

After several auditions in Copenhagen, Hatesphere is now ready to announce their new frontman, Esben “Esse” Hansen and a string of German and Austrian live dates.

Esben “Esse” Hansen, who also sings in As We Fight, immediately joins the ranks of Hatesphere. However, bassist Mixen Lindberg has chosen to leave Hatesphere for other projects. Mixen is temporarily replaced by the old Hatesphere-member Mikael Ehlert until the end of 2010.

31.07 ESSEN (D) Nord Open Air

01.08 FRANKFURT (D) Nachtleben

02.08 SIEGEN (D) Vortex

03.08 INGOLSTADT (D) Paradox

04.08 WIEN (AT) Viper Room

05.08 EGELSEE (D) Schwarzer Adler

06.08 MARKTREDWITZ (D) Sticky Fingers Festival
Earlier this year, Jonathan Albrechtsen left Hatesphere just before their first U.S. tour with The Black Dahlia Murder. Esse and Ehlert can now look forward to a six-week long U.S. and Canada tour stretching from September 23rd – November 5th where Hatesphere supports Nevermore along with Warbringer and Mutiny Within.

Esse comments:

“It didn’t take me much time to decide that I wanted to be the new singer of Hatesphere. Besides making some of the best metal music on Danish soil Hatesphere is one of the coziest bands in Denmark. And I’m very excited to be a permanent part of it all. Looking forward to screaming my lungs out for you on stage!”

Pepe comments:

“After having searched up and down and in between we’re honored to present Esse as new frontman in HateSphere. He’s got the qualities that we have been looking for but which have shown very hard to find. He’s got a brutal varied voice that will be a pleasure to hear in HateSphere. He’s got the necessary experience you will only get by playing tons of shows in front of big and small crowds. He knows what he is getting into – and last but not least he’s a great guy! Welcome to HateSphere – we look forward to kicking major ass!”

Furthermore, fans from Denmark, Spain and Portugal can expect more live dates soon.
