Death metal titans HATE ETERNAL have announced a week-long tour that will take them through Central America and into South America. The band’s first-ever trip to these countries begins with a September 1st show in Mexico City, Mexico as part of the UltraMetal festival and concludes with a Sept. 8 stop in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
HATE ETERNAL is touring in support of its latest full-length, the critically-acclaimed Phoenix Amongst the Ashes. ‘Phoenix…’ was a staple in 2011 years’ end metal “Best-of” lists and is arguably the finest album in the band’s long and storied career.
“a stop-starting, tempo-shifting, weird-riff-unleashing example of death metal at its most dynamic. Far from a dead end, this is a whole new path.” Decibel Magazine, #6 on Decibel’s Top 40 Extreme Albums of 2011
“Hate Eternal is one of the most important, vital ‘true’ death metal bands in existence.” Lambgoat.com
“‘Phoenix Amongst the Ashes’ is an explosive and chaotic cacophony of guttural barks, complex, discordant riffs and detonating blastbeats…Hate Eternal have solidified into an unstoppable isosceles war triangle of death, with General Rutan bulldozing his way through enemy lines, reinforced by drummer Jade Simonetto and bassists JJ Hrubovcak.” Terrorizer Magazine
“Phoenix showcases a far more dynamic band. Guitar passages range from weedly to art-y to textured…juxtaposing break-neck verses with near-mid-tempo groove sections…Simonetto takes the gold for endurance.” DRUM! Magazine
Updated HATE ETERNAL news and tour information will be made available on metalblade.com and the HATE ETERNALwebsite and facebook pages.

In late May, HATE ETERNAL shot their first music video for a track off the band’s latest album, Phoenix Amongst The Ashes, in Tampa, FL with director David Brodsky of MyGoodEye (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, AMON AMARTH, SUICIDE SILENCE, MUNICIPAL WASTE, WHITECHAPEL).
The video, for the song ‘Lake Ablaze’, was funded by Scion A/V who has pledged its continued support of expression through sound and visuals by presenting a fifth installment of 11 new music videos featuring a conglomeration of talented musicians and filmmakers. “Scion A/V is constantly dedicated to the enrichment of the entertainment culture. Producing an extensive collection of music videos will help the company grow and prove its dedication to an ever-evolving music and film industry.” says Jeri Yoshizu, manager of sales promotions for Scion.
Erik Rutan and co. will be joining fellow death metal legends Origin for a North American tour throughout June and July. The tour kicks off TODAY in Austin, TX at Emo’s and wraps up on July 14th in Orlando, FL at Firestone Live. This tour will be the first in Hate Eternal’s North American campaign in support of their latest album, Phoenix Amongst the Ashes. The tour is being presented by Decibel Magazine and Metal Injection in association with Sick Drummer, Scion, Laboga, and Choosing Death.
Erik Rutan comments, “The response to our new album “Phoenix Amongst The Ashes” continues to be incredible, and we hope to see all you guys out on this U.S./Canadian tour. The show each night is gonna be awesome! Thanks so much for all your support. It is what keeps us strong!”
Phoenix Amongst the Ashes was released on May 10th and was hailed as “a relentless, intriciate, and near-anthemic crowd-pleaser” by Revolver Magazine. Title sponsor of the tour, Decibel Magazine, proclaimed “Rutan’s ornate melodies engage in a constant give-and-take with moments of absolutely vicious discordance, while drummer Jade Simonetto is so in control of such complex cadences and fills that you’re compelled to sit back and marvel.” Jade Simonetto’s performance was further complimented by the highly respected DRUM! Magazine: “Phoenix showcases a far more dynamic band. Guitar passages range from weedly to art-y to textured…juxtaposing break-neck verses with near-mid-tempo groove sections…Simonetto takes the gold for endurance.” Needless to say, Phoenix is in the running for one of the best overall death metal releases of 2011 and could very well be considered the best of the band’s long and storied career.

HATE ETERNAL recorded their fifth studio album at frontman Erik Rutan’s own Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, FL with mastering handled by Alan Douches of West West Side. J.J. Hrubovcak has been added as the band’s bassist, alongside the devastating combo of Erik Rutan on guitar and Jade Simonetto on drums.
Commented Rutan: “Phoenix Amongst the Ashes is an album that we as a band worked so very hard on to achieve a record of mammoth dynamic proportions. Jade, J.J and I gave everything we had to make a death metal record that would incorporate a balance of speed, heaviness, melody, and pure power. Every song we labored over to have stand out with originality, individuality and unique creativity. We feel we accomplished everything we set out to do with this album and are very proud of the results; we hope you all will agree…”
The first single off of Phoenix Amongst the Ashes, “Haunting Abound,” can now be heard on the band’s landing page HERE. Erik Rutan comments on the first single; “Haunting Abound is a song that we feel carries the intensity and the vibe of traditional HATE ETERNAL, yet explores new territory with a certain heaviness that has never been presented before in a HATE ETERNAL song. Infusing more dynamics and expanding our sound whilst retaining the integrity and ferocity that fans expect from us. This is only a small taste of things to come upon listening to Phoenix Amongst The Ashes…”
Also available on the landing page are pre-orders.
Artwork was once again handled by Paul Romano (Mastodon, Chiodos, The Acacia Strain, Godflesh, Earth Crisis) who has also created cover art for HATE ETERNAL’s I, Monarch, The Perilous Fight (DVD), and Fury & Flames.

“ORIGIN and Extreme Management Group are happy to announce what will undoubtedly be the most brutal, uncompromising, brain damaging tour of the summer! HATE ETERNAL, VITAL REMAINS, ABYSMAL DAWN, and your favorite mid western based death cyclone, ORIGIN. We are very excited to finally rejoin our old friends, HATE ETERNAL on the road for the first time since 2002. Well……OF COURSE IT CAN because this tour will mark our first full length run with new vocalist, Jason Keyser (SKINLESS, MUCOPUS). It took some time for us to arrive at this point, but be ready for the most blistering ORIGIN performances to date. See you all on tour!”

Decibel Magazine & MetalInjection.net present Hate Eternal and Origin with Vital Remains, Abysmal Dawn
Erik Rutan and co. will be heading out this summer in support of their new album for Metal Blade Records, which is currently in the final stages of being completed. The tour is being presented by Decibel Magazine and MetalInjection.net in association with SickDrummer.com, Scion, Laboga, and Choosing Death. Hate Eternal’s new album promises to be one of the most venomous slabs of death metal in 2011 and this tour, which features fellow death metal greats Origin, Vital Remains and Abysmal Dawn, will easily be one of the heaviest line ups of the year.
Erik Rutan adds, “Hate Eternal is super excited to be touring North America this summer with a new album and a completely awesome death metal package. It has been a while since we have done a headliner tour in the US, so for us to co-headline with Origin and add Vital Remains and Abysmal Dawn to the bill, totally has us amped up and psyched like you can’t imagine!
We eagerly and anxiously await our time until we can get out there and play material from old to new for the death metal masses. Looking forward to seeing you all at the shows, and we hope you’re hungry for over the top intense sonic destruction. This is a tour you do not want to miss!”
More news regarding Hate Eternal’s new album will be coming soon, including song premieres, pre-orders and more. Keep an eye on metalblade.com and indiemerchstore.com/metalbladerecords for updates!

Hate Eternal is working on their fifth studio album (second for Metal Blade Records) and follow up to Fury & Flames once again at Erik Rutan’s own Mana Recording Studios. JJ Hrubovcak has been added as the band’s bassist and the devastating combo of Erik Rutan on guitar and Jade Simonetto on drums is at work once again. The album promises to be one of the most intense death metal albums of 2011.
Front man Erik Rutan offers the following update: “The band has been locked up in Mana Recording Studios doing pre-production for the past 2 months, finishing up songs that we have been writing over the last year in between tours and albums that I’ve produced, and we feel we have come up with one of Hate Eternal’s heaviest, most twisted, evil, melodic, and insane albums yet.
It was my goal to expand upon what the band has done in the past, and add new dynamics and twists to the traditional, dissonant Hate Eternal style, yet keep it in the same vein. It took the three of us really pushing ourselves, and digging deep into the essence of who we are as musicians and writers and players to create something very unique and special. We cannot wait for everyone to hear what we have in store. Look out for updates from the studio over the next few months.”
Italian death metal squad Hour Of Penance’s latest album, THE VILE CONCEPTION, is a piece of utter death metal from beginning to end. The four-piece has already started working on the follow-up. The band’s leader Guilio Moschini goes back in time recalling how Hour Of Penance started out, why the band had to go through some line-up changes and finally sheds some light on working on the fourth album. THE VILE CONCEPTION is definitely a must-have for every die-hard death metal freak.
