From St Petersburg, Russia comes the legendary alternative metal act Grenouer. It has taken the band six years to follow up the previous album LIFELONG DAYS. Last year came the new opus BLOOD ON THE FACE and I had the pleasure to talk to vocalist Andrey Ind and guitarist Alexander Motor. Amongst many things we handled the return of Grenouer, the work behind BLOOD ON THE FACE and the trouble the band have experienced with record labels. We also spoke about how it was to work with the new producers Dualized & Eddy Cavazza and how is metal really doing in Russia today? Read more below.
Russian rock metallers GRENOUER, who have been active since 1992, have signed with Mausoleum Records, the legendary label from Belgium. In previous years GRENOUER were famous for playing extreme kind of music, yet today these ambitious gropers switched over to songs with clean signing and high profile melodies. Their seventh brand new full-length album Blood on the Face is accomplished with outstanding producers Finnish Anssi Kippo, Astia Studio Sound (CHILDREN OF BODOM, NORTHER, TO/DIE/FOR) and Italians Dualized and Eddy Cavazza, dysFUNCTION Productions (MNEMIC, TERMINAL SICK, LOGICAL TERROR). Dualized made superior mixing at Zeta Factory Studios and afterwards the material got mastered at famous Finnvox Studio by Mika Jussila. The CD comprised of 11 full songs (including STONE TEMPLE PILOTS cover) is scheduled for release on Europe: May 3, 2013, North America July 9, 2013.

Grenouer is a Russian act that’s fairly unknown to the western world. When I heard their latest album LIFELONG DAYS I was stunned by their amazing way of playing their industrial/death metal. The band started out playing thrash metal at the beginning of the 90’s so it’s hard to put Grenouer into just one musical label. Listen and you will find out what I’m talking about. However, I felt obligated to share Grenouer’s amazing music with the rest of the world because these guys deserve recognition. I think you can all agree that it’s fun to hear from a band from an “exotic” land as Russia. Here is what me, singer Andrey “Ind” and Alexander “Motor” the guitarist talked about.
