Not very many bands can say that they’ve reached their 30th year of heart pounding metal. It takes dedication, time, and hard work to stay in the game for that long. There will always be many bumps and obstacles through out a career, but the desire for metal cannot be extinguished so easily. Grave Digger is one of those bands. Thirty years and fourteen full length albums later, Grave Digger is still one of the best power metal bands that has ever existed. With crushing drums, pounding bass, wild guitars, and powerful vocals, you can’t help but love these German Metallers. With their latest album "The Clans Will Rise Again" receiving outstanding reviews, Grave Digger has been working hard and staying on their toes. Bassist Jens Becker was kind enough to share some words with Metal-Rules.com about their recent trip to South America, the release of their live DVD "The Clans Are Still Marching", and what is in-store for Grave Digger in the near future. We’re very sorry to tell that GRAND MAGUS and SISTER SIN have been forced to cancel their attendance at the GRAVE DIGGER European tour.
Because of deep vein thrombosis, GM drummer Sebastian had to enter the hospital together with a strict stage veto. A substitute could not be found within this short period of time. And finally, 2 weeks before tour start, the financial tour
calculation of SS has been blown away as well … So, until yesterday, we’ve been left alone without any tour support.
But we’re lucky to tell that we’ve found an equal value act named ORDEN OGAN, who will take the slot of GM for the complete tour dates. The alternate for SS will be the band DOWNSPIRIT, who will enter the stage for 8 shows. Mastermind of this band is Cede Dupont, some of you might know his name by former activities with acts like Freedom Call or Symphorce. Some shows will be supported by local acts as well.
We worked pretty hard to get the package together with GM on the road, so you can imagine our disappointment regarding this sad news. But of course all of you, especially the lads and lasses who saw our performance at the Wacken Open Air 2010, know that GRAVE DIGGER is the pure force and a guarantor for teutonic German metal at it’s best!
We’ll stretch out set for a few more songs to give you the final smash, so nobody will return home disappointed.
German power metal act Grave Digger has posted a new trailer online for its forthcoming live DVD/CD packaged. The two disc set, titled “The Clans Are Still Marching,” is set for release on March 7, 2011 through Napalm Records. “The Clans Are Still Marching” was filmed during the band’s recent headline performance at Germany’s infamous Wacken Open Air. The new GRAVE DIGGER album entered the official German Media Control Charts at #28 and the Top 100 in Switzerland at #86.
Behind “Excalibur” (1999 – #21) this is the second highest entry in band history at a time, where the christmas business is already on the run and selling heavyweights pushing down the rates.
More countries will be analyzed soon.

We released the first song from our upcoming album “THE CLANS WILL RISE AGAIN” via youtube. HAMMER OF THE SCOTS is the official album version … the photo gallery is done the last days during the video shoot for another song from the album call HIGHLAND FAREWELL. It was a great experience to shoot a video about a scottish topic in the UK. The video people were so nice and productive that we are sure That this video will be killer … nothing more to say … in around 14 days you will see the result !!!
Have fun with this song and stay tune for the 1st of October …. Another legendary Grave Digger record will find its way to the stores.

Sauna Open Air is pretty much the kick-off for the ”Festival Season” here in Finland and the first metal festival of the summer. This year, according to the organizers, there was a total audience of 23.000, with just the first day (Thursday) sold out. There was a feeling that this year’s SOA wasn’t a big hit among the fans. You could see already that from the last two days, which seemed kinda empty. Maybe it was because of the old money issue for the fans or maybe they weren’t that much interested in seeing some bands that seem to play quite often in SOA or other festivals.

It will be released in Germany and the rest of Europe at the 1st of October and in the US at the 12th of October 2010.
Together with new member Axel Ritt on guitars, the band entrenched themselves from mid-May to mid-July at the MEADOW STUDIOS of Axel Ritt and the PRINCIPAL STUDIOS, the place all albums have been recordet since “Heart Of Darkness” in 1995. Mixed by Jörg Umbreit and produced by Chris Boltendahl, THE CLANS WILL RISE AGAIN will lead the listeners back to the Scottish highlands.
Chris Boltendahl, Jens Becker, Stefan Arnold, HP Katzenburg and Axel Ritt offer an explosive mixture of the typical GRAVE DIGGER riff metal, combined with awesome epic chorus hooks, which will fascinate the fans from the very first note. THE CLANS ARE BACK FOR ATTACK!
