With two videos already released for tracks from their sophomore album, KXM has released a third video worldwide. The video for “Noises In The Sky” has gone live today on the band’s Facebook page. The latest clip, directed by previous KXM director Jamie Brown, is a stripped down performance video filmed in an apartment. The song comes from the album Scatterbrain that is scheduled for worldwide release on March 17th via Rat Pak Records. Fans who pre-order the album digitally via iTunes (http://smarturl.it/kxmsbitunes) will receive all three released tracks: “Noises In The Sky,” “Breakout” and the first single “Scatterbrain” as an instant download. The album is also available via Amazon (http://smarturl.it/kxmsbamazon).
Scatterbrain is currently available for pre-order via the Rat Pak Records website in various bundles including signed CD’s and t-shirts. All fans who pre-order the album through the Rat Pak website will be entered to win a one-of-a-kind custom guitar as well as other prizes. The pre-order is available at RatPakRecords.com/KXM. The video for the debut sinlge “Scatterbrain” can be seen here: https://youtu.be/UvTnzne69Ts and has become a fan favorite since it was released. KXM is comprised of dUg Pinnick of King’s X on vocals/bass, George Lynch of Lynch Mob/Dokken on guitars and Ray Luzier, of Korn on drums. Scatterbrain features 13 brand new tracks and was recorded at the Steakhouse studio in North Hollywood California. The album was produced by Chris “The Wizard” Collier (Flotsam & Jetsam/Prong/Last In Line) who also produced the band’s 2014 debut.
KXM formed in early 2013 when dUg, George and Ray spoke about trying to jam together. At the time it wasn’t clear what would come from those jams. The only thing that was clear was that these 3 musicians, at the top of their game, wanted to play together. The self-titled debut, KXM, was released on March 11, 2014 and debuted at #31 on the Billboard 200. The band takes its name from the combination of the member’s other projects: K from Korn, X from King’s X and M from Lynch Mob. In a world that constantly searches for new and unique music, KXM delivers all the power and punch that one would expect from these high level players.
Building upon the success of their 2014 self-titled debut, KXM returns with their sophomore CD Scatterbrain. The new album is scheduled for release on March 17th via Rat Pak Records.
KXM is comprised of dUg Pinnick of King’s X on vocals/bass, George Lynch of Lynch Mob/Dokken on guitars and Ray Luzier of Korn on drums and Scatterbrain features 13 new tracks.
From the infectious riff of the album opener “Scatterbrain” to the outro of “Angel,” KXMhave created something truly special and musically diverse. Songs like “Breakout,” “Calypso,” and “True Deceivers” are sonically different from each other taking the listener on a musical journey. Thematically this CD is darker record than their debut. The album builds upon the developed KXM rock sound but this time includes some different dynamics drawing inspiration from prog, ska, punk and metal. Through it all, it remains undeniably KXM.
I spoke with legendary Korn and KXM drummer RayLuzier about this ambitious project, how it different from KXM’s first CD and balancing Korn with his musical endeavors.
Jeff Pilson is an American musician and producer best known for his long stint in the band Dokken. Jeff joined Dokken in 1983 and during the following years he recorded 6 studio and 3 albums with the band including such classics as TOOTH AND NAIL (1984) and BACK FOR THE ATTACK (1987). The band went through several line-up changes and break-ups. Jeff parted ways with the band for the last time in 2004. He was a member of Dio for part of the 1990s and recorded and toured for the albums STRANGE HIGHWAYS (1994) and ANGRY MACHINES (1996) with the band. In the summer of 2004, Pilson became the bass player for the AOR legends Foreigner. He has been part of every Foreigner recording and tour since, including the 2009 studio album, CAN’T SLOW DOWN. Pilson’s credits also include session work with such names as McAuley Schenker Group, Craig Goldy and Wild Horses. Although he is known primarily for his work as a bassist, Pilson is also known as a producer and he has worked in that capacity on his several own projects like War & Peace, T&N and Lynch/Pilson. He has also produced Foreigner’s latest releases and several other bands including Kill Devil Hill, Benedictum, Adler, and Last in Line. I met a good humoured Jeff in June at Sweden Rock, just prior his show with Foreigner. Here’s what the man told us about current Foreigner happenings, the upcoming Dokken reunion, his producing work, and other interesting subjects.

Metal guitar legend George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob) and Emmy-nominated documentary filmmaker Mark Mclaughlin are currently working together on “Shadowtrain: Under a Crooked Sky,” a stirring documentary that explores a hybrid way of life merging modern society with the ancient practices of people who have lived in harmony with the land for thousands of years; native American Indians.
The film follows Lynch and drummer/activist/artist Vincent Nicastro as they visit different reservations around the American Southwest with a trailer full of gear and group of musicians to get a firsthand look at effects of modern consumerism on our native population and the steps they’re taking towards sustainability.
While the documentary is nearly complete, the filmmakers are now seeking help in seeing their collective vision come to fruition. In order to see “Shadowtrain” become a reality, Lynch and Mclaughlin have launched an IndieGoGo Flexible Funding campaign where contributions can be made towards the completion of the film in exchange for autographed copies of George Lynch’s most recent release Legacy, guitar lessons, a signed guitar and more. George Lynch is one of the most recognizable names in the world of heavy metal guitar.
With a career spanning more than thirty years, George has recorded more than twenty albums, toured the entire globe many times, and is the one of the most recognizable endorsees of the world’s finest guitars and equipment.
Born on September 28, 1954 in Spokane, WA, George Lynch began learning to play guitar at the age of 10. A naturally gifted musician, his guitar playing quickly progressed and became a creative outlet for him during his teenage years performing with several bands, most notably Sergeant Rocks.
In the late 1970s, George moved to Los Angeles, California where he formed two bands, The Boyz and Xciter. With Xciter, George’s technical abilities and unique style was a very important draw to the band’s fan base. Playing the L.A. club circuit, it was clear that he was already taking the necessary steps that would lead him to success in the 1980s and his partnership with legendary band Dokken.
When George Lynch joined Dokken in the early 1980’s, success came very quickly. As history proves, much of the band’s album sales and credibility is the result of George Lynch’s guitar abilities and songwriting. With Dokken, Lynch recorded five albums from 1983 to 1988, all of which did remarkably well in the United States, Europe and Asia. This worldwide success made George Lynch one of the most influential rock guitarists in modern music, even earning the band a Grammy nomination in 1989 for Best Rock Instrumental. 1989 was also the year the George parted ways with Dokken and began the new decade with a different approach…enter the Lynch Mob.
By the early 1990s George had become a marquee guitar hero throughout the world. As a result, working with the Lynch Mob was a highly scrutinized and anticipated project. In just three years, the Lynch Mob released two records and hit the road on two worldwide tours. After the second tour’s completion, Lynch took hiatus and retreated to the studio to craft his first solo recordings.
“Sacred Groove,” Lynch’s first solo endeavor was released in 1993. For the first time in his career, he was able to display a broader assortment of musical and guitar styles. The “Sacred Groove” album clearly established Lynch as an eclectic musician with a volume of eccentric work. Having satisfied this endeavor, George Lynch took several years off to spend time with his children and enjoy life in Arizona. That was until a call from an old friend came in 1994.
Following his departure, Dokken had reformed without the use of George Lynch, but when the record company refused to release a new Dokken record without Lynch, phone calls were made in late 1994. Lynch came in to fulfill the requests of the record company and round two with the band began. Soon to follow were two more Dokken records and three more years of touring the globe.
By 1998, Lynch finished his commitment with Dokken and set out to work with the Lynch Mob. This resulted in “Smoke This,” an album that featured a culmination of his playing styles, but with a new approach. The 1999 tour that followed brought George’s playing to a new audience and resulted in a renewed interest in the band and George Lynch’s influence. With new confidence, George began working with former Dokken band mate bassist Jeff Pilson and drummer Michael Frowein on what was to become a lengthy album titled “Wicked Underground.”
The Lynch/Pilson project grew out of song ideas that began with Michael Frowein at Lynch’s Stonehouse Studios the previous year. Jeff Pilson was always in mind to join in the completion of the songs. The collaboration proved to inspire Pilson and Lynch to completing the full-length record together. “Wicked Underground” was completed under the name LP (Lynch/Pilson) and delivered to stores in April 2003.
Also in 2003, Lynch began reworking the sound of earlier Lynch Mob and Dokken material. To complete this task, George re-assembled Mob band members, Robert Mason and Anthony Esposito, along with Michael Frowein on drums. Together, they reinvented the spirit and fire of early Lynch compositions onto an album titled, “REVolution,” which was also released in 2003. The guitar work on both “Wicked Underground” and “REVolution” demonstrated Lynch’s consistency with his signature sound while balancing a more experimental side.
At present, George Lynch has been busy in the studio and on the road. His latest solo record titled “Furious George” features a collection of songs that influenced the musician throughout his career. He is also working on a retrospective compilation titled “Lost Lynch.” The collection exhibits his natural progression and growth as a musician, guitarist and songwriter. Spanning over thirty years, “Lost Lynch” showcases his earliest recordings at age 15 to his multi-platinum successes later in his career. This collection explores some choice examples of missing links from Dokken and Lynch Mob, as well as Lynch’s later projects that have never been released to the public.
George Lynch is always evolving as a musician. And with the George Lynch guitar legacy comes remarkable business opportunities. Many musical instrument manufacturers consult with George creatively to produce equipment. As a result, many quality products bear his name.
The most notable is his endorsement with ESP Guitars. ESP has held George as their highest profiled endorser for close to 20 years. Electric guitar pickup guru Seymour Duncan has also honored George with his own signature series pickup called the “Screamin’ Demon.” Now a highly regarded standard in the guitar world, the “Screamin’ Demon” reigns as one of Seymour Duncan’s most popular items to date. Currently, Lynch and Seymour Duncan are developing the “Super V,” a new pickup initially available only in the new ESP George Lynch Super V guitar, which is slated to be unveiled at NAMM ’05. George also conceived the design for a triple amp selector switching system called the “Tripler” which is now being manufactured by Morley. American Recording Technology manufactures and distributes the George Lynch Signature guitar, patch and speaker cables. An endorsee of Dean Markley, George Lynch and the company are working on a signature string set debuting at the upcoming Winter NAMM show. In 2005, Randall Amplifiers will unveil a new George Lynch modular amp called the “Lynch Box.” Also of note, George Lynch and Robert Keeley have developed the Lynch Time Machine, a unique and powerful effect unit that is gaining a lot of interest and momentum within the guitar industry.

Singer-songwriter Oni Logan’s musical journey has taken him first from South America to Hollywood and later on to Switzerland, where he currently resides. Logan’s best known as the lead singer in the heavy metal band Lynch Mob, with whom he did the classic WICKED SENSATION album in 1990. Later in the mid 90’s he worked briefly with former Dio guitarist Rowan Robertson in a band called Violent Demise. The group recorded an album but it was unfortunately never released. Logan took a long hiatus from the music business before hitting back in L.A. club scene with his new band Head Set. Soon after moving his family to Europe, Oni released his first, all acoustic, solo album called STRANGER IN A FOREIGN LAND in 2005. Logan reunited with Lynch Mob in 2008 and one year later the band released its latest album SMOKE AND MIRRORS. The band started their European tour on last October and a couple of weeks later I had a chance to sit down with Oni in Sweden and discuss about his return and various other topics. Here we go!
George Lynch is one of the most popular and influential guitarists to emerge from the ’80s-era heavy metal/hard rock scene. Lynch is best known for his work with platinum sellers Dokken whose albums UNDER LOCK AND KEY and BACK FOR THE ATTACK went to platinum in the mid 80’s. In 1988 Don Dokken and Lynch found it impossible to continue in the same band together and as a result the band broke up. Don Dokken decided to start his solo career whereas Lynch decided to form a new band called Lynch Mob. Joining Lynch in the new outfit was singer Oni Logan, bassist Anthony Esposito, and former Dokken colleague Mick Brown. The band issued their debut album, WICKED SENSATION, in 1990. WICKED SENSATION became another milestone in Lynch’s career and it did went gold in States with over 500 000 copies sold. The sophomore album LYNCH MOB presented a new lead singer Robert Mason and it was released in 1992. The second album failed to reach its predecessors success and soon band was disbanded. Lynch released a solo album called SACRED GROOVE in 1993 with various famous guests including Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen and Mandy Lion before rejoining Dokken in 1994. The reunited band released two studio albums: DYSFUNCTIONAL and SHADOWLIFE before Lynch decided to leave again. The late ’90s/early 21st century saw Lynch alternate between issuing albums with the Lynch Mob (with varying members) and as a solo artist resulting in such further titles as 1999’s SMOKE THIS, 2003’s WICKED UNDERGROUND and FURIOUS GEORGE in 2004. In 2010 it was officially announced that Oni Logan and Lynch will rejoin their forces again and as a result SMOKE AND MIRRORS was released in 2009. The world followed and in late 2010 the renewed band; Lynch, Logan, bassist Robbie Crane and drummer Brian Tichy finally arrived in Scandinavia. In Gothenburg in Sweden I had chance to sit down Mr. Lynch himself and talk about various topics including the reunion with Logan, Souls of We, the past as well as a possible Dokken reunion… read on…

HOLLYWOOD, CA (June 25, 2010) – Lynch Mob is getting ready to embark on a summer tour in support of their current release “Smoke and Mirrors” on Frontiers Records. The band line-up for this tour consists of George Lynch (shred master), Oni Logan (vox), Michael Devin (bassologist) and Brian Tichy (time-keeper).
After seventeen long years singer Oni Logan and guitar wizard George Lynch found their way back together and again show their amazing abilities in some killer new Hard Rock songs.” I would say this new record “Smoke and Mirrors”, is the record we should have put out as a follow up to “Wicked Sensation”…better late than never I guess…”, says Lynch presenting the new record.
Lynch Mob was formed by George Lynch, one of the few genuine guitar heroes of substance to emerge from the Los Angeles scene, after DOKKEN split up in 1989. The band’s first album” Wicked Sensation” went on to sell over 500,000 units in the US and featured the talents of singer
Oni Logan, Anthony Esposito on bass and another former DOKKEN member Mick Brown on drums. After a tour in support of Queensryche, Logan opted out, with Robert Mason taking his place on the follow up self titled release. However Lynch and Brown eventually returned to Dokken releasing 2 studio albums until he left again in late 1997 putting together a several new incarnations of Lynch Mob and exploring new sounds with different projects.

The legendary Space Ace Frehley, of KISS fame, finally returned to Europe, after almost a decade, and unleashed his first solo shows in the UK in twenty years. At his shows in Sheffield and London, Ace rocked in front of sold out crowds of fans from all over Britain and Europe. Present were all the hallmarks fans could have possibly have wished for, from the career spanning spectacular set list to the smoking guitar. Along with his new band, comprising of Anthony Esposito [ex-Lynch Mob], Scot Coogan [ex-BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION] and Derrek Hawkins, Ace practically brought the house down and proved to any doubters, that he’s back! The day after the band’s spectacular performance at London’s Astoria, we hooked up with Anthony Esposito, Ace’s bass player, to catch up on the latest happenings in Ace World. Read On, Rock Soldiers!
In the first part of this candid interview, current ACE FREHLEY bass player, Anthony Esposito, spoke about working, touring and recording with Ace during the past 2½ years. This second part concentrates on his career prior to hooking up with the Space Ace.
Anthony Esposito first got to taste success in 1990 when he joined up with George Lynch and Mick Brown of Dokken fame and singer Oni Logan in Lynch Mob and put out the splendid WICKED SENSATION record. The follow up album, a classic rock album featuring new singer Robert Mason was released in 1992 during the zenith of the grunge phenomenon and suffered from the changing musical climate. Other internal factors within the band were also starting to disrupt the momentum. For the past decade Anthony focused primarily on running his own studio in New York City where he produced and engineered such bands as Misfts, New York Dolls and The Ramones. In this second part of the interview Anthony recounts some of his experiences with these great bands and more.
