REDEMPTION’s sixth album, ‘The Art of Loss’, has been completed and will be released early in 2016 by Metal Blade Records. Featuring groundbreaking guest performances from a number of legendary musicians, the CD’s nine tracks contain over 70 minutes of REDEMPTION’s unique blend of passion, melody, aggression and complexity.
Los Angeles-based REDEMPTION is helmed by Nick van Dyk (guitars, keyboards), and includes renowned prog vocalist Ray Alder (Fates Warning, Engine), bassist Sean Andrews, and drummer Chris Quirarte, as well as guitarist Bernie Versailles, who is presently on an indefinite medical leave of absence from the band.
The band recruited several of the finest guitarists in metal to complement van Dyk’s playing. “We’re fortunate to have worked with a number of amazing musicians,” begins van Dyk. “To start with, I’m extremely proud to announce that Chris Poland has lent his immense talent as a special guest on this record, contributing his unique playing on the majority of the songs and elevating our music into extremely interesting territory while calling to mind his work in his previous bands, who need not be named. Additionally, we are fortunate enough to have mind-blowing guest performances from Marty Friedman, Chris Broderick and Simone Mularoni, all of whom are amazing guitarists who add so much to this record.”

Joey Vera is one of the more recognizable names in the metal scene. He has carved his name into metal history as a member of Armored Saint and Fates Warning. Metal-Rules.com had the pleasant opportunity to talk with Joey Vera at Wacken Open Air. The 20min conversation covered the making of the new album WIND HANDS DOWN and a bit of discussion about Anthrax and Fates Warning.
Drummer Bobby Jarzombek (FATES WARNING, SEBASTIAN BACH, HALFORD) has posted in-studio footage of 2 songs from FATES WARNING’s highly acclaimed “Darkness In A Different Light” album. The video can be seen on his YouTube channel:
”Hey all, I finally sat down and finished editing some drumming video footage of myself from the recording sessions of Fates Warning’s “Darkness In A Different Light” at The Carriage House in Stamford, CT. DIADL was released in October 2013, and, of course, I’ve have this footage for a while but for various reasons I never got around to editing it until now. Better late than never, I guess. The two songs in this particular video clip are “I Am” and “One Thousand Fires.” Enjoy!”

All sorts of stuff going on as I’m getting ready for a busy fall on the road!
Big FATES WARNING news as InsideOutMusic has just announced the album title and release date and unveiled the artwork for the new album! The record is called “Darkness In A Different Light” and will be out September 30 in Europe and November 1 in North America. This is the band’s first new studio album in almost 10 years and my first with them. Needless to say, I’m pretty damn excited because we’ve put a lot of hard work into this record – I know I certainly have. Once again, Jim (Matheos) has written some amazing songs which, in my estimation, are every bit as good as what we did with ARCH / MATHEOS a couple of years ago – and Ray (Alder) is singing great! Read the official press release on the Fates website http://www.fateswarning.com and stay tuned for further details and advance music as we get closer to the actual release.
The wait is over, and one of the premier bands of the American progressive metal movement is back! FATES WARNING are proud to announce that they will enter the studio in April to begin tracking on a new studio album – their first album of new material in nine years, and their first studio release for InsideOut Music.
The U.S. run will launch November 15 in Joliet, IL and wrap December 14 in Seattle, WA. The band’s 11th studio album is set for a fall release, and will feature founding guitarist Jim Matheos, classic lineup members Ray Alder (vocals) and Frank Aresti (guitars), longtime bassist Joey Vera and drummer Bobby Jarzombek. Arch / Matheos: Band sets “Sympathetic Resonance” as the title of upcoming debut full-length album
Fates Warning guitarist JIM MATHEOS and original vocalist JOHN ARCH team up for new band!
As previously announced, Jim Matheos (current member of the progressive rock powerhouse Fates Warning and OSI) and John Arch (former vocalist of Fates Warning) have teamed up to form the new progressive rock band, ARCH/ MATHEOS. The band -accompanied by Joey Vera on bass, Bobby Jarzombek on drums, and Frank Aresti on additional lead guitar- began tracking the drums on January 12 and continued to record through mid February with Jim Matheos producing. ARCH/ MATHEOS is pleased to announce Sympathetic Resonance as the title of the debut album, which will be released September 13, 2011 in North America.
Jim Matheos offered his insight on the writing and recording process of Sympathetic Resonance; “I think John and I work really well together. There’s a lot of mutual respect and trust in what we do. But, we’re also both very critical of ourselves, and each other. This can make for a long and, sometimes, tedious process. But ultimately it’s one I enjoy because I think it brings out the best in both of us.” John Arch added; “When I first heard some of the arrangements Jim had written and recorded, it took quite some time before I could wrap my mind around the odd time signatures and guitar work going on here. There are some long compositions, so putting anxiety and apprehension on the back burner it was time to dissect these numbers into digestible bits. After the lengthy process of lyrics and melodies, listening to the songs now, I can’t imagine them any other way.” In terms of the lyrical content on Sympathetic Resonance, John Arch notes that “the lyrics this time around are more in line with A Twist of Fate and not of the mystical nature of some past albums.”
More details will be released over the coming months so be sure to stay tuned to MetalBlade.com. ARCH/ MATHEOS pages on Facebook and Twitter coming soon!
