SLAYER – Interview with Drummer Dave Lombardo

Slayer has been in the frontlines of thrash metal and extreme metal for nearly four decades. Several classic songs such as Hell Awaits, Raining Blood, South Of Heaven, Dead Skin Mask, Cult etc are immortal and present a well oiled metallic war machine pushing forward relentlessly and show the brutality of thrash metal. However, the thrash metal machine needs a powerful inexhaustible source of intense drumming to create the well-known Slayer tempo. Dave Lombardo is definitely at the core of the unique sounds of Slayer. Despise his absence from Slayer, his role in the world of Slayer has become, and still is, an important part of Slayer. Faith No More called it quits in 1998 after the ALBUM OF THE YEAR had seen the light of day and the tours were completed. Since then it has been speculated about the possible return or comeback for years and even the band members had ruled out the whole reunion thing several times. Singer Mike Patton was always asked in several interviews about a possible return, but he rather focused on his own bands Fantomas, Mr. Bungle, and Tomahawk etc. than teaming up with the old band members. However, some things should remain unchanged and untouched, but it is just amazing to see how some minds can change after all and Faith No More truly returned to the limelight.
