EDGUY – New Lyric Video + Track Listing + Pre-Order Start!

Edguy - Monuments

Edguy – Monuments

In February 1992, a bunch of German kids set out from the middle of nowhere and founded a band that would conquer the hearts of a whole new generation of fans around the globe!

Today, 25 years later, founding members Tobias Sammet (AVANTASIA) and the two guitarists Jens Ludwig and Dirk Sauer, as well as Tobias “Eggi” Exxel (bass) and Felix Bohnke (drums), who joined the band 20 years ago, can look back at their hugely successful career to shows in more than 40 countries, countless tours in Asia, Australia and America, ten studio albums and top 10 chart entries from all over the world.

To celebrate such an exceptional career with their fans, EDGUY will get back on the road. And while the live program will only contain the best material of their entire career, the new release will not be just a ‘Greatest Hits’ album one would expect to accompany such a tour: The 2-CD/DVD-package Monuments (release: July 14th) will include brand new material, their best tracks of the last 25 years, and old rarities that have never been published before! In addition, the DVD includes an entire show from their Hellfire Club tour in 2004 as well as the complete collection of their video clips. The limited edition will include an extensive coffee-table book containing material from throughout the entire history of EDGUY!

Today, the band reveals the first single as well as the lyric video for the brand new song “Ravenblack”. Watch it here:

AVANTASIA: Bruce Kulick on new album!

November 7th, 2015

He‘s become part of rock history as the lead guitarist of KISS, MICHAEL BOLTON, MEAT LOAF and GRAND FUNK RAILROAD. And like a bat out of hell, he was back in the studio to record some lead guitars for the newAVANTASIA album. Guitar legend, solo artist and Tobi‘s dear friend Bruce Kulick! AVANTASIA‘s new album Ghostlights will be released on January, 29th 2016 via Nuclear Blast Records.

“I remember I was eleven years old when I had a KISS Crazy Nights poster on the wall”, commented Tobi. “20 years later Bruce asked me to co-write and lay down vocals for a song on his solo album BKIII (highly recommended to check out), which was a great honor for me. Bruce is a great guy, a pro and an outstanding guitar player, he comes from a different background than me, which makes it even more exciting to have him on theGhostlights album (out January 2016 via Nuclear Blast).”

The original is back! EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet has returned to the studio to work on the new chapter ofAVANTASIA. The sequel to the successful 2013

album The Mystery Of Time, which charted in 16 countries in Europe, Asia and America, including #2 in Germany, will be called Ghostlights and is scheduled to be released in early 2016. An EP/single is also planned to be released this autumn and in March 2016 a giant all-star ensemble will set off on the GHOSTLIGHTS WORLD TOUR.

AVANTASIA’s mastermind Tobias Sammet commented about the album:

“In the past months I’ve spent a lot of time in the studio, an odd recluse in the basement, secretly working obsessively on something that reads and feels and sounds like a new – very strong – chapter in the story of AVANTASIA. I must sayAVANTASIA is a fantastic outlet for creativity, and it’s truly inspiring to create a piece of music for so many great vocalists and instrumentalists.

The new material is very bombastic and dynamic, and even though it’s extremely diverse, every minute of it sounds likeAVANTASIA. I’m really proud of what we’re creating right now. And as if that wasn’t enough: I’m anxiously looking forward to hitting the road again. I didn’t necessarily expect this to happen as in the past it has always been difficult to align the individual schedules of the guest stars, but things have worked out, and we’re ready to make it happen one more time! We’ll put on a big show, we’re gonna play over three hours, and we’ll take the fans to a magical world all its own – to AVANTASIA. The live setlist is going to embrace the entire history of AVANTASIA, from The Metal Opera to Ghostlights and of course everything in between!”

The world tour will kick off in Berlin on March 4th, 2016.

From Hell’s Heart: The top 5 songs about Ancient Egypt

May 15th, 2015

From Hells Heart

From Hell’s Heart:
What are the top 5 songs about Ancient Egypt?

This will be the first in a series about history. We won’t do a history one every week, just now and then. The idea is, loads of metal bands derive lyrical inspiration from history. Some bands even build their whole “shtick” around a specific historical era. For this week, that historical era is Ancient Egypt….you know, the time of the pharaohs, the ancient Egyptian gods etc… Below is what out staff picked as the best songs about this topic.

EDGUY - Space Police: Defenders Of The Crown

EDGUY – Space Police: Defenders Of The Crown

Self-described as “heavy, melodic, tongue-in-cheek, and unfashionable,” German superhero heavy metal quintet EDGUY have taken their trademarked sense of humor, packed it in a rocket, and headed for space – again.  The artwork for their eleventh studio album, Space Police: Defenders Of The Crown, has now been unveiled on the band’s website, including the first pixel of their new band photo.  Seriously.

“We have focused on what makes this band unique and recorded what we believe is going to be the strongest & heaviest album this band has ever recorded,” states the band. “We didn’t waste any time with updates or distractions. There is no doubt that this album is going to be the album we’ll be measured against in the future. And it makes us proud to say that as a band that has been existing for over 22 years now, we are fully aware that the best is yet to come.”

Set for release this spring, Space Police: Defenders Of The Crown is the follow-up to 2011’s Age Of The Joker.

“Invoke The Machine” comes from AVANTASIA’s upcoming The Mystery Of Time album, due out in North America on April 30th.

AVANTASIA’s latest rock opera features artwork by the highly-acclaimed British fantasy artist Rodney Matthews (Thin Lizzy, Asia, Nazareth, Magnum) and includes guest appearances by the following rock & metal heavy weights: Joe Lynn Turner (ex-Rainbow, ex-Deep Purple), Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Ronnie Atkins (Pretty Maids), Biff Byford (Saxon), Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween, Unisonic), Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon, ex-Vengeance), Bruce Kulick (Grand Funk Railroad, ex-KISS, ex-Meat Loaf), Russell Gilbrook (URIAH HEEP), Bob Catley (Magnum), guitarist/producer Sascha Paeth, and the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg.

After the show we met and Ronnie was a great guy.  Finally after 13 years, I am really proud to have him on the new AVANTASIA album. And his kick-ass performance leaves no doubt: It was a great decision to ask him!”

Edguy finished rehearsals for the forthcoming tour dates in Central and South America

October 6th, 2012

German metallers EDGUY have issued the following update:

“Edguy have just finished rehearsals for the forthcoming tour dates in Central and South America and the subsequent European dates with DEEP PURPLE and the two festivals with MOTÖRHEAD. While the Brazilian shows will be special guest shows to former GUNS N” ROSES guitarist SLASH and his solo band, in Mexico and Argentina Edguy will play full fledged headlining shows on their own! As some of you may have heard, Rocktober Festival in England unfortunately has been canceled due to organizational problems, the band is really sorry about that and promises to come back to the UK as soon as possible on their own again. Nevertheless Edguy are looking forward to heading to Mexico, Brazil and Argentina now!”

Edguy’s tour schedule can be found here.

Tuska Open Air Metal Festival – Helsinki Finland June 27-29, 2012

July 28th, 2012

Tuska Open Air 2012

Suvilahti, Helsinki, Finland

June 27-29, 2012

The Tuska Open Air Festival is definitely a real metal festival institution amongst all other metal festivals in Europe. This current area, Sivulahti, almost located in the heart of Helsinki, only a few kilometers away from the downtown, is a new home for Tuska for the second time. Suvilahti is more like an industrial environment with the burning and hot asphalt underfoot. When raining, at least the area won’t turn to one hell of a big mud fest.

Another thing forcing Tuska to make a change was the date. Originally the festival was supposed to be at the beginning of July, but another big more international based festival took over the date and Tuska was postponed until three weeks later. Well at least some people got pissed off at the changed date. Obviously a few band negotiations needed to start all over. Hopefully Tuska will return back to the original date.

The line-up looked once again – amazing. Megadeth and Ministry and of course the Swedish war trad metallers were headliners, but Lamb Of God had to pull out of Tuska because of the arrest of the frontman in Republic Czechia and was replaced by Finntroll and Animals As Leaders had to cancel as the band managed to miss the flight. Of course a few cult metal bands like Saint Vitus, A.R.G. could be witnessed. The festival was an utter success although the event wasn’t sold out. All in all 26,000 people visited Tuska during three days. was present to check out a lot of bands and enjoy the sun and rain.
