Imagine a weekend of nothing but pure heavy fucking metal.
Imagine being surrounded by the friendliest 15,000 people who share the same passion for heavy metal music and lifestyle. Imagine a place where it is respectable to have beer for breakfast and drinking until you drop in an accomplishment. Imagine a festival where you can see over 100 heavy metal bands and pretty much none of them suck.
Ladies and gents, this ain’t no heavy metal fairytale!
This is Bloodstock Open Air – the greatest heavy metal music festival of our times. It’s a place where metal heads run free, headbang until their heads roll off, shout ‘SLAYEEER!’ and avoid shower for 4 days straight.
It just does not get any better than this.
Our Metal-Rules.com UK team were privileged to attend Bloodstock Open Air 2013 and see things for themselves…here’s a ‘little’ insight of what went down.

DYING FETUS recruit Metal Blade artists ABIOTIC and RIVERS OF NIHIL as supporting acts for Fall tour
Dying Fetus have announced their headlining tour for this Fall with Exhumed, Devourment, Waking the Cadaver (10/4-10/19), as well as up-and-coming Metal Blade Records artists Abiotic, and Rivers of Nihil (10/26-11/2). The tour will begin in October 4th and wraps up on November 2nd.
Surfacing from the heart of South Florida, Miami’s ABIOITIC transcends high above the rest with a most preternatural sound. By interweaving well-cultivated musical dexterity and pronounced lyrical finesse, ABIOITIC epitomizes an unwonted entity of unmatched musicianship. In a short amount of time since the quintet’s inception in 2010, this ghoulish coterie has made a paramount impact in the death metal scene and support from the masses continues to grow. The five-piece group consists of vocalist Ray Jimenez, bassist Alex Vazquez, drummer Andres Hurtado and guitarists Matt Mendez and Johnathan Matos. The band’s Metal Blade debut, Symbiosis, is available everywhere now and their Dan Drescher-directed music video, Facades, is streaming at metalblade.com/abiotic. Read the rest of this entry »
Metal Alliance Tour
March 30th 2012, Edmonton, Canada
Edmonton Events Center
Review and pics by Monika Deviat
On March 30th 2012 the Metal Alliance Tour stopped in Edmonton Alta., at the Edmonton Events Center. With seven touring bands and a local band getting the opening spot after winning a contest put on by Concert Works in Edmonton, you knew the sets were going to go by fast. The venue filled up right after doors open and there were line ups for the merch booth that lasted most of the evening. We were also informed we only had the first three minutes to get some photos so we did our best at being ninja photographers. Unfortunately, a lot of the bands had some pretty dim stage lighting. The sound, as well as the pit, were broken up by pillars spaced throughout the middle of the venue.
