Iconic German thrash trio DESTRUCTION will embark on a North American 30th Year Anniversary Tour this May with shared direct support from Vital Remains and Warbringer (who will be alternating each night) plus Pathology.
States DESTRUCTION frontman & bassist Schmier:
“A killer package for old-school thrash & death metal freaks! This may be the best set list we’ve ever had – the essence of thrash metal history united with our new anthems. We’ll have more classics than ever in the set, more from the first records for sure. Can’t wait to hit the road again!!! Some North American cities have a great audience for this old school sound again, and it wasn’t always like that. The main intention for this second North American tour within a year is that we could not play all markets that we wanted to book last time. Now, we’ll play some new places and return to those cities that gave us a great welcome last year like New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Montreal. Warbringer are a perfect match to a DESTRUCTION bill. They are one of the best new thrash bands and keep our ‘80s spirit alive. It will be great to have them with us! We’ve played with Vital Remains before; awesome guys and a brutal band. They bring a good variety into the billing. Thrash/death metal is always the best mix, that’s why Pathology complete the show!”

Hellfest arrives for its 5th edition. The French festival has been growing incredibly huge and very fast. This year it traditional location in the sport facilities of Clisson couldn’t take anymore of the mass of metalheads coming to this small part of France from all over the world.
This year’s crowd-moving, main acts where none less than Rob Zombie, Scorpions, Ozzy, and Judas Priest, with tons of other goodies in between. An excellent line-up as usual, as it’s part of the winning formula that gave success to the organizers of this event, nowadays already one of the biggest metal fests in the European summer.
The weather won’t be the most pleasant ever, but on the other hand it could have been way worse than just some strong wind and rain here and there, and the sun has been lighting the fields from time to time, still giving the impression to be in summer, after all. But as this festival is amazingly fun if you are among the beer-drinking hellraisers in the audience, you can somehow understand the “hell” part when you have to keep up with the insanely long queues to get into the photo pit, along with running all over the festival area from stage to stage, trying not to fall over some boozer laying on the ground. Oh well… running is good for your health!
Destruction are legendary in thrash circles, and the best news of all is that they are back. Not only with a new album, but thrash fans all over the country will be warming up their necks for some serious head-banging at the news that Destruction will be touring Australia this November. Joining them for the ride will be Australian thrash pioneers, Mortal Sin, and established Melbourne act, 4ARM.
For almost 30 years, the name Destruction has been almost synonymous with high energy thrash. The south German act has never veered from their ethos of never backing down from creating pure thrash. Now, the three-piece are back with another thrash metal gem, Day Of Reckoning, and will be unleashing it upon Australian audiences.. Released earlier this year, the album shows the band at its most fierce, brutal and thrashy. Here Destruction pay tribute to their roots and easily revive that old school speedy feeling.
Says vocalist Schmier of the album, “If you think Destruction is an old band, this album will prove you wrong! The speed and energy combined with a basic, fresh and aggressive production will make this record an outstanding classic of our long discography.”
Beginning way back in 1985, Mortal Sin, could probably be considered Australia’s first thrash metal band. Their first album, Mayhemic Destruction, saw them gain much attention at home and abroad, while a quiet period during the 1990’s saw them emerge again in 2004 for a tour with Anthrax and a European tour. Now in 2011, the band are set to release their newest epic, Psychology Of Death, on September 23.
Having just completed their third album, Submission For Liberty, 4ARM are chomping at the bit for its release. By joining this tour, fans are given the opportunity to experience some of the album’s ferocity and supercharged riffage in a live setting, before it’s 2012 release.
This triple header of thrash will be devastating metal fans around the country. So get on board and do not miss Destruction causing devastation and ruin in a town near you.
Tour dates as follows…
11/03/11 ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA, FOWLERS LIVE
11/04/11 MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, PRINCE OF WALES
11/05/11 SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, THE GAELIC CLUB
11/06/11 BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA, THE HI-FI
Tickets for the upcoming tour will be released momentarily through respected ticketing outlets and venues.
Let Me Hear You Scream Sweden Rockkkk.Well the annual roadtrip to Swedenrock by the Finnish Metal Rules.com team is already into it’s 11th year! The 2011 line up presented a wide range of metal and hard rock in the line-up. Over 70 metal and rock bands offered one hell of an experience for the attendees. Sweden Rock has been successful during the past ten years as the festival has always been sold out. This year wasn’t any exception as the fest was sold out despite the lousy economic situation worldwide and the ticket price had risen a little bit. ver these 11 years of coverage, it has become quite logical for us to give an in depth article of several bands performing at Sweden Rock to all the readers out there. The weather once again showed positive and negative aspects like in 2010. It either rained or was windy with a little sunshine. But we were there for bands, not for having some beach party crap. Unfortunately, we are not able to cover every bloody band, but hopefully you will have a pleasant reading experience… Enjoy or die!!!
According to metal journalist Mike R. Meyer, “1986 was the best year in the history of thrash — and probably the metal genre as a whole — giving us seminal releases by many of thrash metal’s best acts.”
For his second installment in his on-going “Top 10 Thrash Albums of 1986” series coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the album’s actual North American release date, Meyer has featured DESTRUCTION’s Eternal Devastation. “Along with Kreator and Sodom,” he writes, “DESTRUCTION would eventually come to be known as one of the ‘Three Kings’ of Teutonic thrash metal, mirroring the rise of the ‘Big Four’ American thrash bands. From the ominous intro to ‘Curse the Gods’ through the closing track, ‘Confused Mind,’ Eternal Devastation not only raised the bar for German thrash metal, but for the genre worldwide.”

DESTRUCTION’s latest album, Day Of Reckoning, debuted at #54 on the Billboard Current Hard Music Albums chart, #58 on the New Artist/Heatseekers Album chart, and #143 on the Independent Current Albums chart this past March.
DESTRUCTION have upcoming summer festival performances in Colombia, Italy, Solvenia, and Germany. Eight shows in South America will follow in August, then three September dates in Russia.
Iconic German thrash trio DESTRUCTION have debuted on three Billboard charts with their new studio album Day Of Reckoning: #54 on the Current Hard Music Albums chart, #58 on the New Artist/Heatseekers Album chart, and #143 on the Independent Current Albums chart. OL DRAKE, lead guitarist for British thrashers EVILE, is featured as a guest musician on the new album from German thrash legends DESTRUCTION.
OL DRAKE had previously filled in for DESTRUCTION guitarist MIKE SIFRINGER in 2009 at Portugal’s Caos Emergente festival, after SIFRINGER broke a finger on his left hand. DRAKE was asked to join the German thrashers in the studio to play some solos and harmonies on the new DESTRUCTION release, titled DAY OF RECKONING.
OL DRAKE comments:
“Just got a package through the mail from sir Schmier, which contained the newest Destruction album, “Day of Reckoning”. I had the huge honour of doing a few guest solos and harmonies on the album, as well as on their awesome cover of Dio’s “Stand Up and Shout” (which is one of my favourite Dio tracks!). To fly over there, do some recording, backing vocals and hang out with Mike and Schmier again was an experience I’ll never forget.
“Being a big Destruction fan, I can’t put into words how unbelievable it is, and was, to be a part of the album. Also, with being a Destruction fan, I can safely say this is one of the best albums they’ve done in a long time (no, not because I’m on it… Well, a little haha). Our old bassist, Mike, was a huge Destruction fan, so I really hope he’d be proud. I remember when I told him I’d be standing in on guitar for Destruction’s Mike at a show in Portugal; he simply called me a “bastard”. I think he was more excited than I was haha. Long live Destruction!”
EVILE’s thrash metal anthem, “Thrasher”, is available now on the Rock Band Network, along with every song from the band’s latest album, INFECTED NATIONS. Get the tracks now by heading to EVILE’s official Rock Band Network page at http://www.rockband.com/songs/artists/Evile

DESTRUCTION frontman/bassist Schmier offers the following comments about the video clip:
Destruction - Day Of Reckoning
“HATE IS MY FUEL is the slogan of DESTRUCTION, so we kept this video clip as authentic as possible: Aggressive live feeling mixed with a critical look towards the manipulating media-world, in the tradition of classical thrash videos from our era! Dive into the moshpit and scream along if you are a real thrasher. I hope you will have as much fun watching it as we had filming it! Thanks to kids at the New Year’s Eve show in Switzerland for the kick-ass background!”
“Hate Is My Fuel” is a track from thenew DESTRUCTION album, Day Of Reckoning, which is available for streaming in its entirety on the band’s Facebook page until February 21. The album will be released in the U.S. and Canada on March 8th, 2011.

“We are really happy to announce our old friends HEATHEN as a replacement for Deströyer 666! It’s fantastic to have an opportunity to tour with old friends on both sides of the globe! German & Bay Area Thrash together on tour – how much more kick-ass can it get?! “The Price,” a new song from Day Of Reckoning, has been posted on the band’s MySpace page. States Schmier: “This song expresses the spirit of Day Of Reckoning at its best: faster, more raw, and tighter. One of my favorite tracks on the album because you can feel the fire and the joy of playing! The band feels the old-school aggression again and this song is like a rocket: UN-FUCKIN-STOPPABLE!”

Day Of Reckoning is the follow-up album to 2008’s D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N.
German thrash metal masters DESTRUCTION will be returning to North America in support of their new studio album, Day Of Reckoning, due out in the U.S. and Canada on March 8th, 2011 and on February 18th in Europe. Special guests on the tour are Australia’s Destroyer 666.
DESTRUCTION bassist & vocalist Schmier shares the following on the upcoming trek:
“It feels fantastic to return to North American shores for the first time after our return to Nuclear Blast with a new album as brutal as Day Of Reckoning on our backs. This is the strongest material we have written since [2001’s] The Antichrist and we are burning to present these shredding songs and introduce our new 6.6 foot tall drum animal VAAVER live! Of course, all the DESTRUCTION classics will be there; we know what our faithful fans want and we will serve them well! You will feel the force of the strongest line-up we have ever had. Experience the true power and the rigorous precision of German Thrash Metal live this spring! Can’t fuckin’ wait!”
