Hell yeah! It’s time to enter the mighty Swedenrock Festival. A fantastic and the most enjoyable rock and metal festival on earth. It has to be pointed out that Metal Rules has covered Sweden Rock since 2001! Therefore, it is quite logical to cover the festival again. The 2014 line up presented a wide range of metal and hard rock. Approximately 80 metal and rock bands offered one hell of an experience for attendees. Sweden Rock has been successful during the past decade as the festival has always been sold out. This year wasn’t an exception as the fest was sold out despite a lousy economic situation worldwide. It has become quite logical for us to give an in depth article on several bands performing at Sweden Rock to all the readers out there. The weather was both rainy and sunny during these four days. The Metal-Rules.com team was there to witness the bands, not for some kinda beach party crap. Unfortunately, we are not able to cover every bloody band, but hopefully you will have a pleasant reading experience… Rock on!

Drummer Dennis Leeflang has joined vocalist Ted Poley’s (Danger Danger) solo touring band. Leeflang most recently toured with Queen of Metal, Lita Ford in the summer and fall of 2009 all over Europe and the United States, playing such prestigious events such as the Bang Your Head Festival, Gods of Metal and The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Dennis joins bassist Doug Odell (Ice Age), guitarist Maz Mazza (40Ft. Ringo, Detroit Cheetah), and guitarist/keyboardist Paul LaPlaca (Chris Caffrey solo, Zandelle) as Poley’s newest line up.
Leeflang expresses his excitement to be playing with Ted: “Ted is a drummer himself and we get a total kick about jamming together. He appreciates my playing in a way I’m not used to and at the same time when Ted has a suggestion, it actually makes sense! I’m really looking forward to going on the road with this band next year.” The band will make its live performance debut at Klubben Fryshuset in Stockholm Sweden on December 3, 2010.
Leeflang, who is most known for his work as the long time drummer for Bumblefoot, aka Ron Thal, guitarist of Guns N Roses, reflects on how busy the last year has been for him, stating “It’s been a pretty hectic year for me, but that’s how I like it. I’m a workaholic. I had just started working on new material with Bumblefoot when we got the call from Lita Ford and jumped on the road with her for 3 months with 36 hours to learn her set. It’s been non-stop from that point on. After we got off the road with Lita, I’ve been locked up in my studio recording for a ton of different projects. Not just playing and recording my own drum tracks, but also engineering a variety of sessions ranging from vocals to strings. Most recently I’ve been recording drums for, as well as engineering and producing the first album in over 20 years by 80’s thrash metal pioneers I.N.C. (Indestructible Noise Command). The album will be mixed by Fredrik Nordstrom (Opeth, Soilwork, Hammerfall, In Flames, Bring Me The Horizon), which is very exciting. Then there are several local NYC bands I work with and I got married this year. My focus for 2011 will definitely be Ted’s band, though. Playing live is what I love the most.”
Besides the INC release, the material Leeflang has been working on with Bumblefoot will also soon be released. Available online only as individual song releases, fans can expect the tracks to be released over the next few months.
Considering that Poley recently signed with ARM Entertainment (management firm of such notable talent as Bret Michaels, L.A.Guns and Dokken), it appears Leeflang’s busy schedule won’t end just yet.

Danger Danger vocalist Ted Poley announces the addition of guitarist/keyboardist Paul LaPlaca to his solo touring band. LaPlaca has previously worked with such acts as ZO2, Zandelle and Chris Caffrey of Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Savatage. Poley’s current roster also includes drummer Dennis Leeflang (Lita Ford, Bumblefoot), guitarist Maz Mazza (40 Ft. Ringo, Detroit Cheeta) and bassist Doug Odell (All Pointz West, Ice Age). The new lineup is scheduled to make its live debut on December 3rd, 2010 at Klubben Fryshuset in Sweden.
Paul’s inclusion in Ted’s touring band continues a busy year for the multi-talented musician, which most recently saw him serving as associate producer of the new album from SplitScreen Entertainment, “Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute to Fat Chicks.” For this unique project, LaPlaca produced 5 tracks in total, working with members of L.A. Guns, Quiet Riot, W.A.S.P. and Twisted Sister.
“It’s just been a crazy year so far and every day is completely different.” states the in-demand Paul LaPlaca. “Working on the ‘Whole Lotta Love’ album was an incredible experience, with so many different styles and such outstanding musicians. After that I was able to squeeze in some tech duties for one of my all-time favorite bands, Living Colour. In between I worked a Disney fashion show and manned a camera for insanely talented drummer Jojo Mayer. I was even flown from New York to Tampa to shoot a product demo for Rocktron. Now instead of taking a break, I’m preparing for the European festival date with Ted Poley, a reunion show with members of October Thorns and a live set of metalized Hanukkah favorites with NY’s own Gods of Fire. I guess I can sleep when I’m DEAD!”
Making LaPlaca’s induction into Poley’s band all the more appropriate is the fact that he’d previously produced a song called “Ted Poley” for the 2008 tribute album “Kiss My Ankh: A Tribute To Vinnie Vincent.” A parody of the Kiss song “Unholy” by Vincent and Gene Simmons, the song was performed by rock & roll comic C.C. Banana and even featured current Poley bandmate Dennis Leeflang on drums. The track has proven to be a favorite with Ted’s fans and has been used to open his solo shows ever since.
Considering that Poley himself recently signed with ARM Entertainment (management firm of such notable talent as Bret Michaels, L.A. Guns and Dokken), Paul anticipates keeping busy for foreseeable future.

Summer NAMM 2007
Austin, Texas, USA
Austin Convention Center, July 27-29, 2007
Review and pics by Robert Williams
The NAMM show is an industry only conference for music retailers, one of the biggest music related conventions in the world, 2nd only to the Frankfurt Musikmesse, so I’m told. Music retailers come from all around the world to make connections and network with their peers, showcase their new products, and attend NAMM classes that teach industry secrets on how to improve business for music retailers.
