Nuclear Assault conquered the speed/thrash metal scene of the 80’s with a razor sharp sound with crossover elements. Nuclear Assault’s lyrics were based on the everyday reality that we are facing even nowadays. The band’s albums HANDLE WITH CARE, SURVIVE, and GAME OVER are the obvious thrash metal gems. Even though Nuclear Assault have been on hiatus from time to time, once again the four piece have returned with a new EP and a massive European festival tour. Metal-Rules.com sat down with John Connelly, Glenn Evans and Dan Lilker to talk about various and interesting topics.
It would be more than unexpected if some serious metalhead asked “who is Dan Lilker”, cos the man has been involved in the metal scene and in the catacombs of underground metal for several decades. Above all, Nuclear Assault are still remembered as pioneers of the NY thrash metal scene, with several killer albums from the 80’s. Dan has also carved a reputation as the long time bass player and founder of the extreme grind core act Brutal Truth which terrorized the underground extreme metal genre in the 90’s until they went on a long hiatus. After being on a hold for years Brutal Truth has returned to bring their extreme music to extreme people again. The band visited Helsinki some time ago and we got the great opportunity to chat with Dan about his various bands, but above all about Brutal Truth, Nuclear Assault and even going back to the very early days of Anthrax.

Nuclear Assault has been on the road since 2002 with the reformed band. They released a live record to hold the fans down until a new studio album is ready. While the band was in the New York area I had an opportunity to speak with Danny Lilker who gave me the lowdown on the band and it?s future plans.
