Interview With Simon Cruz and Eric Young of Crashdiet

Crashdiet played the final two dates of their North American tour in Florida, both being added with only two weeks notice.  When I got the notice from AFM promoter Dustin Hardman that the band would be coming to St. Petersburg for a show, I jumped at a chance to interview the band and find out how their first nation-wide tour of the United States had gone.  Joining the band on these dates was the all-female Swedish band Crucified Barbara, and Montreal, Canada’s Snaskeskyn Whiskey.  Against my better judgement, I dragged my wife along as well, knowing that she likes limited quantities of metal, but I was sure she would appreciate the vocal harmonies and general upbeat sound of Crashdiet.  I got to the venue, Jannus Live, early.  If you have never been to Jannus, I heartily endorse it.  They truly have an awesome setup which I will describe more in my review of the actual concert.  I chatted for awhile with a Crashdiet uber fan from Minneapolis, who in his dedication had managed to track down Simon Cruz’s demo from his time in the band Jailbait.  An hour before Crashdiet were scheduled to go on stage, the band invited me up to their rehearsal area for the interview and my wife tagged along.

Right off the bat I met all of the guys in the band and I have to say they were extremely friendly, down to earth and acted like your everyday average guys.  We exchanged pleasantries, imbibed a few beverages and then got down to the business of the interview.  A few of the guys from Snakeskyn Whiskey came in after finishing their set, and they were good guys too as well as a talented band, as I managed to catch most of their set before the interview. SWEDENROCK 2011

August 1st, 2011

swedenrock2011.jpg

Let Me Hear You Scream Sweden Rockkkk.Well the annual roadtrip to Swedenrock by the Finnish Metal Rules.com team is already into it’s 11th year!  The  2011 line up presented a wide range of metal and hard rock in the line-up. Over 70 metal and rock bands offered one hell of an experience for the attendees. Sweden Rock has been successful during the past ten years as the festival has always been sold out. This year wasn’t any exception as the fest was sold out despite the lousy economic situation worldwide and the ticket price had risen a little bit. ver these 11 years of coverage, it has become quite logical for us to give an in depth article of several bands performing at Sweden Rock to all the readers out there. The  weather once again showed positive and negative aspects like in 2010. It either rained or was windy with a little sunshine. But we were there for bands, not for having some beach party crap. Unfortunately, we are not able to cover every bloody band, but hopefully you will have a pleasant reading experience… Enjoy or die!!!

SWEDEN’S SLEAZE KINGS CRASHDÏET TO PLAY AT SWEDEN ROCK 2011!

January 25th, 2011
Crashdïet

Crashdïet

Crashdïet’s debut “Rest in Sleaze” (2005) put the New Wave of Sleaze on the Swedish media-map. Some time later tragedy struck when vocalist Dave Lepard committed suicide. And his replacement Olliver Twisted turned out to be wrong for the band and exited following the second album “The Unattractive Revolution” (2007). However, Crashdïet refused to give up. They found sensational front man Simon Cruz and released last year’s “Generation Wild” – a knock-out comeback and a big success on the band’s home turf. Crashdïet will now return to SRF with renewed vigor, as one of Sweden’s hottest bands once more.

STOCKHOLM ROCKOUT Festival, May 30th, 2010, Sweden

June 3rd, 2010

StockholmRockOut-Alvik.jpg

MAY 30th, 2010

REVIEW AND PICTURES BY MARKO SYRJÄLÄ

Rarely, if ever, has one festival organization gone through so many difficulties as Stockholm Rockout faced out during this spring. First, there were many cancellations for whatever reasons, even some headliners got canceled, and finally the volcano eruption in Iceland and its ash clouds meant that most of the U.S. bands not reaching Sweden in time. The organizers of Rockout didn’t give up and they decided to organize a small-scale one day event with bands which were now available. The actual Rockout -festival will then be re-arranged for later next September.
