Howard TV Cameras Follow Speed Metal Drummer Richard Christy

June 13th, 2012

Howard TV Cameras Follow Speed Metal Drummer Richard Christy And His Crew As They Film Music Video For His Band, Charred Walls Of The Damned Special Episode, Behind the Scenes Show: The Making of Richard Christy’s Music Video Plays Exclusively on Howard TV On Demand

New York, June 12Howard TV takes viewers on a heavy metal adventure with the airing of a new episode of the Behind The Scenes Show: The Making of Richard Christy’s Music Video. Howard Stern Show on-air personality and segment Producer Richard Christy is also a well-known heavy metal speed drummer. Christy’s band, Charred Walls of the Damned, chose his new song Zerospan to be the subject of the album’s signature video. Fans will get a close-up look at the concept behind the video and how it all came together in this new Howard TV On Demand show airing until August 6, 2012*.

Cameras follow Richard and his production team as they shoot in upstate New York, Brooklyn and Manhattan’s Washington Heights during a whirlwind two-day shoot. The video features complex horror scenes filled with special effects that show the lead character getting transformed into a “horribly mutated creature” because of an overload of technological stimulation (the theme of Zerospan).

Weighing in with their reactions to the video from the show are Gary Dell’Abate, Robin Quivers and Howard Stern.

Richard Christy elaborates on the video’s concept: “I’m so excited that fans will finally be able to see the Zerospan video after many months of hard work!” He enthusiastically continues, “For fans of horror like myself, this video is the perfect mix of technological horror and all out brutality. The Zerospan video is like a mini horror film and the story follows the lyrical subject matter perfectly and creates a haunting vision of a man absorbed by the world’s ever growing technology. What it comes down to, though, is that it’s pretty much just a kick ass heavy metal video! Big thanks to everyone who helped make this video awesome!”

Zerospan is from the band’s latest album, Colds Winds On Timeless Days. Christy had been hinting at a new video since November 2011, when the trailer was released. The lead actor in the video is Bryan Haeffele. The Zerospan video was directed and edited by Mike Schiff (director of CWOTD’s previous ‘Ghost Town’ video) and Sean McEwan (Albino Farm) with special effects/make up by Brian Spears and Pete Gerner from G and S Effects (Stakeland).

For the Behind The Scenes Show: The Making of Richard Christy’s Video, showrunners are Lee Gerowitz and Keith Fenimore. For Howard TV On Demand, Doug Z. Goodstein is Executive Producer and Mike Gange is Supervising Producer.

CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED confirms slot on Metallica’s Orion Music and More Fest

April 18th, 2012

Critically-acclaimed, Richard Christy-led metal act, Charred Walls of the Damned, has recently confirmed a slot on one of the biggest music festivals of 2012: Orion Music and More Fest. The fest, which will be held at Bader Field in Atlantic City, NJ on June 23rd and 24th, will feature dozens of bands as well as a Billabong All Out Air Assault Surfing Expedition, Custom Car + Motorcycle Show, and much more. For more information on the festival, including the full line-up and Tickets, visit http://www.orionmusicandmore.com/.

Richard Christy had this to say about performing at the festival: “I am beyond honored to be playing the Orion Music and More Fest with Charred Walls of the Damned! I’ve been a Metallica fan since the age of 12 and Lars Ulrich is a huge influence on my drumming, so to be invited by the mighty Metallica to play their festival is a dream come true to say the least. I was actually planning on attending this festival when I first heard about it and now to find out that we’re actually playing just blows my mind! We’ll see you at Orion Music and More!”

Charred Walls of the Damned’s second album, Cold Winds on Timeless Days, was released on October 11, 2011. The album, much like its self-titled predecessor, received heaps of praise from fans and press.

Charred Walls of the Damned “Cold Winds On Timeless Days” Billboard Chart positions revealed

October 21st, 2011
Charred Walls of the Damned - "Cold Winds on Timeless Days" - October 11th, 2011

Charred Walls of the Damned - "Cold Winds on Timeless Days" - October 11th, 2011

The latest album from Charred Walls of the DamnedCold Winds On Timeless Days, has debuted on the Billboard charts! The record reached #53 on the Billboard Hard Music Charts and #14 on the Billboard New Artist (Heatseekers) Chart. On iTunes, the CD peaked at #43 on the rock charts. Additionally, the album reached #89 on the Hard Music Charts on Soundscan in Canada.

Richard Christy, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Jason Suecof and Steve DiGiorgio once again joined forces to bring to life Christy’s latest body of work, Cold Winds on Timeless Days. The writing process for the new album actually began while the band was mixing their 2010 debut. Richard Christy used his experience on the first album to write songs that catered not only to each member’s playing style, but to Jason Suecof’s production style. The result: demos that turned out nearly identical to what ended up on the album.

With 12 songs clocking in at 58 minutes, fans are getting a lot more music this time around. Recording twelve songs in a short amount of time is no easy feat, but one that was accomplished because of the stellar talents in the band. Christy elaborates further; “I wanted to get a natural sound out of this album, I wanted everyone to be well rehearsed, not that I wanted the album to be rushed, but I wanted the spontaneous live feel and not over think anything too much.” Richard Christy describes Cold Winds on Timeless Days as a “perfect storm of producing” – Audiohammer’s Jason Suecof produced and Mark Lewis mixed, while mastering was handled by Alan Douches at West Westside.

Charred Walls of the Damned’s sophomore album, Cold Winds On Timeless Days, was released October 11th and is available everywhere now: iTunesAmazon.comMetalBlade.com,Shopbenchmark.com and at your local record stores.

In other news Richard Christy has partnered up with Modern Drummer Magazine to premiere his studio performance video for the song Admire The Heroes. Richard filmed his drum takes while recording Cold Winds On Timeless Days at the Hit Factory Criteria in Miami, FL earlier this year. Those takes from two different cameras were edited into the video you can see on ModernDrummer.comHERE. Christy’s approach to this record was that he wanted a more organic and spontaneous sounding album. Amazingly, drums were recorded in a mere two days and the video is evidence to his ability to record the songs in an entire, contiguous take.
