America’s reigning kings of brutality, CANNIBAL CORPSE, will unleash their twelfth studio offering on March 9th/12th via Metal Blade Records in Europe. Aptly titled Torture, the follow-up to 2009′s Evisceration Plague offers up 12 tracks of maniacally precise, soul-searing death metal. Torture was again produced by Hate Eternal’s Erik Rutan at his own Mana Recording Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida as well as Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, and features the maniacal cover art by longtime CANNIBAL CORPSE artist, Vincent Locke, viewable HERE.
While Torture marks the latest progression in the band’s sound, it also witnesses a return to what drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz accurately terms “the frenzied attack of Butchered At Birth (1991) or Tomb Of The Mutilated (1992),” infusing the band’s advanced musicianship with the raw savagery that haunted their earlier releases, and in the process conceiving the definitive CANNIBAL CORPSE record.
Adds bassist Alex Webster on the outcome of the record: “We’re extremely happy with how Torture turned out. Erik Rutan did an amazing job with the production, and the songwriting and performances may be our strongest yet. We can’t wait until our fans get to hear the whole thing!”
Witness the gutting sounds of Demented Aggression the band’s first single, at the official CANNIBAL CORPSE landing page, at THIS LOCATION.
Torture Track Listing:
01. Demented Aggression
02. Sarcophagic Frenzy
03. Scourge of Iron
04. Encased in Concrete
05. As Deep As the Knife Will Go
06. Intestinal Crank
07. Followed Home Then Killed
08. The Strangulation Chair
09. Caged…Contorted
10. Crucifier Avenged
11. Rabid
12. Torn Through
As a precursor to the release, CANNIBAL CORPSE will perform a special one-off show at the Culture Room in West Palm Beach, Florida on January 22nd then head to the seas to take part in this year’s edition of the 70,000 Tons Of Metal Cruise. The band will get a short break before a near month-long march through Europe on the Full Of Hate 2012 tour with labelmates Behemoth. Check the full European touring schedule:

Cannibal Corpse has begun recording their twelfth studio album at Sonic Ranch studios in Texas with producer Erik Rutan. More details on the album, including art, songs, title and more will be revealed in the months to follow. For now, the band is hard at work forging their next death metal offering.
Bassist Alex Webster adds: “After having spent the past 7 months writing and rehearsing new material, we’re very excited to finally begin recording. We’ve had great success working with Erik Rutan on our past two albums so we’ve decided to work with him again, but to keep things fresh we decided on a change of location – we’re returning to Sonic Ranch studios in Texas, where we’ve recorded several albums in the past. We are psyched to see how this combination works out- we feel it’s pairing that could result in our best album yet.”
Erik Rutan worked with Cannibal Corpse for both Kill (2006) and Evisceration Plague (2009) and is returning for a third time. Rutan explains further: “I am super excited to work with Cannibal Corpse for our 3rd album together. We are determined to make the best album we possibly can. Everyone is very focused and the new material is awesome. There is a great blend of classic, old school CC with a newer, more heavy, dynamic and aggressive approach. I look forward to the challenge of making one heavy as hell record!”
Cannibal Corpse’s latest release, the Global Evisceration DVD, was released March of this year and contains nearly three hours of live and behind the scenes footage of the band as they travelled to 10 different countries in 18 days, three of which were countries the band had not previously played. CANNIBAL CORPSE released their latest DVD Global Evisceration in March of 2011. The DVD hit the charts in Germany, England, the U.S. and Canada. BEHEMOTH’s latest release Abyssus Abyssum Invocat was released in June and can be previewed and ordered at www.metalblade.com/behemoth.
Veteran Canadian metallers INFERNAL MAJESTY performed their classic 1987 album “None Shall Defy” in its entirety with special guest vocalist George “Corpsegrider” Fisher from CANNIBAL CORPSE on August 20 at Rickhaw Theatre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Also appearing on the bill were TYRANTS BLOOD and SINNED.
Video footage of INFERNAL MAJESTY’s performance can be seen below. Photos of the concert are available this location (courtesy of Chris Slack).
When asked in an interview why INFERNAL MAJESTY was dropped by Roadrunner Records after the release of “None Shall Defy”, guitarist Steve Terror said, “At the time Roadrunner was just starting out in the States so they didn’t have the clout that they have now. There have been many bands that have been unhappy with Roadrunner and I don’t think we are any different. I think what really happened was, [former INFERNAL MAJESTY drummer] Rick [Hughes] went to New York to the label and told them that we didn’t want to tour, but to put out a second album instead. The rest of us didn’t find this out for about five years after the fact. The label wanted bands that wanted to tour so they became disinterested with us. You have to remember that at the time labels where signing everyone in sight and not really paying much attention to each band.”
On August 20th at the The Rickshaw (254 East Hastings Street) in Vancouver, BC, legendary Canadian metallers INFERNAL MAJESTY will perform their classic 1987 album Non Shall Defy front to back in it’s entirety and then some with the neck and voice that is George “Corpsegrider” Fisher from death/grind pioneers CANNIBAL CORPSE. Guests on the bill include TYRANTS BLOOD and SINNED.
The mighty Cannibal Corpse will once again be returning to Latin America! This time, they’ll be bringing along label mates The Black Dahlia Murder as well as fellow underground heavyweights Suicide Silence to Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Venezuela in December. The tour will begin on December 3rd in Sao Paulo, Brazil and will wrap up on December 13th in Mexico City, Mexico.
South American fans are notoriously some of the most diehard metal heads in the world and the bands are excited for this tour to get started. Cannibal Corpse vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher comments on the tour: “In every interview, I am asked where the sickest and best death metal fans are and it is hands down South America. I’ve seen kids in the front row bleeding and losing their minds, they are all crazy in the best way possible. It’s hands down my favorite place to play and I can’t wait to come back!” The Black Dahlia Murder vocalist Trevor Strnad adds, “We are very excited to be a part of this monstrous South American tour. It is always a pleasure to play alongside the almighty Cannibal Corpse… but in South America?! The shows are going to be absolutely insane, without a doubt. To the South American fans: prepare for an unearthly ritual!” Guitarist Brian Eschbach comments further, “We are extremely excited for another chance to support the almighty Cannibal Corpse!!! It has always been great touring with them. We especially look forward to seeing them DESTROY South America and Mexico City. iViva la Smash!”
Cannibal Corpse’s latest release, the Global Evisceration DVD is available now, and includes hours of behind the scenes footage of the band as they tour Europe and contains two full live shows from the US. The Black Dahlia Murder are preparing for the June 21st release of their fifth full length album, Ritual. Clips and audio from each release can be seen and heard on http://www.metalblade.com/cannibalcorpse and http://www.metalblade.com/bdm.
