Imagine a weekend of nothing but pure heavy fucking metal.
Imagine being surrounded by the friendliest 15,000 people who share the same passion for heavy metal music and lifestyle. Imagine a place where it is respectable to have beer for breakfast and drinking until you drop in an accomplishment. Imagine a festival where you can see over 100 heavy metal bands and pretty much none of them suck.

Ladies and gents, this ain’t no heavy metal fairytale!

This is Bloodstock Open Air – the greatest heavy metal music festival of our times. It’s a place where metal heads run free, headbang until their heads roll off, shout ‘SLAYEEER!’ and avoid shower for 4 days straight.
It just does not get any better than this.

Our Metal-Rules.com UK team were privileged to attend Bloodstock Open Air 2013 and see things for themselves…here’s a ‘little’ insight of what went down.

Bloodstock Open Air Metal Festival 2013 Preview

June 30th, 2013

As it’s nearly time to pack our bags with festival essentials and make our way to Bloodstock Open Air Metal Festival 2013, we wanted to sum up why exactly we are so damn excited about it.

As most of you probably know already, Bloodstock Open Air Metal Festival is a four-day outdoor celebration of all things heavy metal. This year it takes place from August 8th to August 11th of 2013, in Catton Hall in Walton-on-Trent, Derbyshire England.

Most importantly, what makes Bloodstock one of the coolest festivals of 2013 is the excellent line-up that would please any kind of heavy metal fan, whether you’re into death metal, thrash metal, power metal or anything else. The three headliners over the weekend are going to be no one else but the living legend that is King Diamond, Slayer and Lamb Of God. And that is only the beginning…

BLOODSTOCK 2012 HAS MOST SUCCESSFUL YEAR TO DATE AND CONFIRM FIRST SPECIAL GUESTS FOR 2013

August 16th, 2012

OVER 11,000 IN ATTENDANCE AND OVER 200,000 TUNE IN TO LIVE STREAM OF BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2012

ANTHRAX CONFIRMED AS SPECIAL GUEST FOR 2013 FESTIVAL!
BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR saw its most successful year so far last weekend as over 11,000 music fans descended on CATTON PARK for four days of ferocious metal mayhem. Capturing the phenomenal main stage performances across the weekend were streaming partner Daily Motion, attracting well over 200,000 visitors across the weekend from the UK.

Festival director Vicky Gregory comments:

“To say we were totally blown away by this year is an understatement! We had the highest attendance in the festivals 12 years with an overall attendance of 11,300 and looking at the feedback from fans they were equally blown away! We had for the first time live streaming via daily motion and had over 208,000 views from the UK alone.

“The feedback we have received from all the bands that played the festival has been superb with many saying it was the best festival they have ever played and to hear that makes all the hard work worth it! Role on 2013 and a huge thanks to all that attended the festival – its good to know metal is so alive in the UK!!!!”

Wasting no time in moving forward with plans for next year’s festival – which will see an increased capacity – organisers announced the first act to join the 2013 line up in the form of special guests ANTHRAX.

Early-bird tickets for the 2013 event are already on sale at only £100 (plus booking fee) for four days of the best collection of METAL on UK soil. Buy yours now at www.bloodstock.uk.com

Bloodstock Open Air 2012 – 9th – 12th August 2012

When it comes to forefront heavy metal festivals in the UK, the East Midlands seems to have an unfeasibly large portion of the pie. Unlike some of its more commercially driven brothers though, Bloodstock Open Air (B-O-A) prides itself on being the UK’s biggest independent festival – as the website states ‘By the fans for the fans!’

In fact, Bloodstock was born out of the desire a festival the like of which has not been seen since the glory-draped days of Donnington’s Monsters of Rock. Starting out as an indoor event in 2001, this vision has quickly gained momentum and the first open air event arrived in 2005. Now in its eleventh year, 12,000 rabid metal-heads are expected to descend upon the picturesque Derbyshire countryside for four days of uncensored heavy metal as only Bloodstock knows how.

With the countdown on, even the ever-a-reason-to-complain British summer weather and the scheduling of the closing ceremony of ‘that’ summer sports event over the same weekend, there’s a palpable excitement in the air over the UK that is all Bloodstock. And with over 100 international rock and metal acts across four stages – including big hitters Behemoth, Machine Head – who’s set-list include five tracks from Burn My Eyes chosen by fans, Alice Cooper, Paradise Lost, Dimmu Borgir, Sepultura, Hatebreed, Anvil, Crowbar, and Testament – you’d not struggle to see why!

As if you’d need more reasons than that to part with the oh-so-reasonable ticket price, B-O-A 2012 is packed with other attractions such as a huge international metal market, the infamous late night metal karaoke, fairground rides, real ale festival bars, and an extra special VIP experience. But most of all Bloodstock continues to breed one of the best atmospheres around, so add your horns to the crowd!
