We share this achievement with Co-Producers Eyal Levi and Mark Lewis from Audiohammer Studio, our management, and Metal Blade Records, as they’ve been a huge part of this record. The San Manuel Amphitheatre is situated in a classic California desert-mountain valley. It was in this harsh, desolate, and port-a-potty-covered wasteland that the first day of Mayhem Festival 2013 took place. There was literally nothing else around the festival; just tall, brown, shrub-covered mountains and lots and lots of dust. The day itself was so hellishly hot – peaking at a scorching 107 F – it was almost as if Satan himself had a hand with the weather (maybe he was even at the festival; he’s kind of into the metal scene, isn’t he?). I’m sure the Mayhem people made a fortune on the ice cold $3 waters and $6 lemonades they were peddling all day long, and I witnessed at least one girl pass out from the heat. But with a name like Mayhem, what else would you expect?
BATTLECROSS has unveiled their brand new video for “Never Coming Back” from the album “War of Will.” The Roy Warner directed clip can be streamed on metalblade.com/battlecross. Fans that follow BATTLECROSS on-line have seen pictures from the shoot, and already know that Kevin Talley, who performed with the band at Orion Music and More, and who is drumming for the band all summer on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, appears in the video!
Last week, Detroit, MI’s BATTLECROSS unveiled the title, cover art, and first single from their upcoming new album, War of Will. This week, the guys have posted the first of two studio videos. The clips were filmed entirely by the band as they were holed-up at Audio Hammer Studios in Florida. In this first installment, fans will be treated to raw video of session drummer Shannon Lucas tracking songs for the album, as well as other candid clips from throughout their time in the studio. Watch clip #1 at metalblade.com/battlecross. At that page, fans can also stream “Force Fed Lies” and pre-order the album.
BATTLECROSS has completed work on their sophomore album, which will be due out this summer during their tour as part of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. Recording has been completed and the finishing touches are being applied to the tracks and art. During tracking, one of metal’s most acclaimed drummers, Shannon Lucas, stepped in as the session drummer for the album.
Lucas comments: “Being a fan of Battlecross, it is an honor to be a part of their new record. I can’t wait for the world to hear this album.”
Producer Eyal Levi adds, “I am so beyond excited for the chance to produce Shannon Lucas on the new Battlecross record. He’s one of the true BEASTS of metal drumming. The man’s skills are literally untouchable. Combine that with a badass rising star of a band and I think we’ve got the makings of a crushing record!”

BATTLECROSS, In Flames, Demon Hunter, All Shall Perish
Band set to hit the road this weekend with In Flames and will make its first appearance at New England Metal Fest in April
Detroit Thrashers Battlecross have announced that they will enter the studio next month to record their follow-up to their 2011 Metal Blade debut Pursuit of Honor, which topped the Sirius XM Liquid Metal charts, garnered great reviews and earned the band high profile tours, including last summer’s Trespass America Festival Tour with Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage and Trivium. The band will begin recording immediately after the ‘Another Year, Another Tour’ with In Flames, Demon Hunter and All Shall Perish for 27 North American dates that begins on February 2 in Ft. Lauderdale.
Battlecross will look to Mark Lewis and crew at Audiohammer Studios in Florida to record their follow up to 2011/2012’s breakout album, scheduled for release in summer 2013. Lewis, responsible for the production and/or engineering for bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder, Trivium, Devil Driver, and Deicide said, “I can’t wait to be a part of Battlecross‘ next record. From the moment I heard the band I knew I wanted to be a part of their development. Hearing the new music has only solidified that feeling. Working with our good friends at Metal Blade and bringing great new music to the masses is what it’s all about.”
Eyal Levy will handle engineering duties on the record and Armored Saint’s Joey Vera, who mastered the band’s cover version of Pantera’s “Fucking Hostile,” will master.
Guitarist Hiran Deraniyagala says the band is “stoked to be working with a prolific studio and producer at Audiohammer. We’re so focused on making a killer follow up album and we feel that Mark Lewis will help bring our raw, live sound to life.”
Metal Blade President Michael Faley said, “2013 is destined to be big year for Battlecross starting with a tour with In Flames in February, followed by recording the new album with Mark Lewis in March and April. We have high expectations for the bands sophomore effort which will be released to coincide with a massive tour this summer (stay tuned for details). We are excited by the band’s “non-stop” approach which has landed them on significant tours and support from Jose Mangin at Sirius XM Liquid Metal. Thanks for all the support from the metal community.”
In addition, festival organizer Scott Lee, recently announced the addition of Battlecross to the 15th annual New England Metal and Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Massachusetts. This will be the band’s first appearance and will join Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies, Opeth and many more.
Pursuit of Honor’s three singles ‘Push Pull Destroy,’ ‘Man of Stone’ and ‘Breaking You,’ spent more than 50 combined weeks on Sirius XM Liquid Metal ‘Devil’s Dozen’ list of most requested songs, with ‘Push Pull Destroy’ at the top spot for five weeks last spring. The accompanying video has racked up more than 1.5 million views on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miZLob1Hi4I and was the break-out track for these high-energy thrashers.

Detroit Michigan metal act Battlecross talks about first single & album artwork for “Pursuit of Honor”
Agoura Hills, CA – June 13th, 2011 – Detroit Michigan’s BATTLECROSS has just released the artwork and tracklisting for the band’s full-length debut Pursuit of Honor, out August 2nd in North America. A band that incorporates many elements of extreme thrash, death and tech metal, creating a precise blend of fist pumping brutality, intensity, and drive, BATTLECROSS satisfies both the technical metal aficionado and the casual heavy metal listener alike.
The band comments on album artwork that was created by Josh Schroeder: “The album artwork for Pursuit of Honor was created by the same mastermind who co-produced, mixed, and mastered this album, Josh Schroeder. He made a few merch designs for us in the past and we knew we wanted him to create the album art as well, first of all to keep everything cohesive and relevant, also because we love his unique style and vision, and lastly because he knows us so well. We feel the artwork depicts a strong sense of power and aggression with a leader among warriors. The Pursuit of Honor refers to the ongoing battle within us and the struggle to overcome, to crush all obstacles, and prevail at all costs.”
Also available today is the band’s first single Push Pull Destroy. Vocalist Gumby comments on the band’s first single off of Pursuit of Honor: “When I sing this song I think about how hard it was to even get to this point and the hard road still to come. It’s about overcoming all and coming out on the other side stronger. Push Pull Destroy is in your face with a blend of intense rage and epic power from the first scream to the ending bass line.”
Check out the first single Push Pull DestroyHERE where you can also find specially priced pre-order packages including the CD and CD & T-shirt.

About the band:
With the mindset to create a sonic metal assault unlike any other, childhood friends, Tony Asta and Hiran Deraniyagala, set forth on the path to shred and abandoned the idea of following any trends. The guitar slinging duo brought an infused style of old school metal with dark elements of thrash and death metal and destined to find the right members.
Struggling for years to find reliable and dedicated members, the true formation of BATTLECROSS was born in 2007 when Drummer Mike Kreger responded a want ad, and added a machine-like, brutal precision on the drums, and proved to be just the right match for Tony and Hiran’s mature and technical style of thrash. Bringing a whole new level of musicianship and intensity with his quick finger picking and tasty solos, Bassist Don Slater joined the group, bringing a skill and technique that impresses even the most prolific bassists. The thrash metal band was finally complete when popular area vocalist, Kyle “Gumby” Gunther joined the band. Known for his command of the stage and alternating deep growls with high pitched screams, Gumby punishes the audience and inspires pits of rage.
Together, the five-piece create an unforgettable and energetic live show that decimates their audience with raw energy and persistence, that has earned a style of their own: “Blue Collar Thrash Metal”, in reference to the hard-working, ‘never give up’ attitude of those who hail from the Motor City.
This reputation for technical talent, humility and kick ass live shows resonated throughout the regional metal scene and BATTLECROSS soon became a fan and band favorite. Sharing the stage with the likes of Dying Fetus, GWAR, Devil Driver, The Absence, Vital Remains, The Faceless and Metal Fests throughout the Midwest, BATTLECROSS began to bang heads nationally with a nod from MySpace-A Place for Metal’s 2008 ‘Best Unsigned Metal Band’ contest, for being ‘Metal Sucks’ worthy, Mike Kreger’s crowning as Sickdrummer.com & Zildjian’s ‘Sickest Dirt Fest Drummer’ and featured on local, national and global metal radio.
Incorporating many elements of extreme thrash, death and tech metal, creating a precise blend of fist pumping brutality, intensity, and drive, BATTLECROSS satisfies both the tech-metal guru and the old-school die hard alike.
The band’s Metal Blade debut is set to release August 2nd, 2011, followed by a tour that will bring a face melting thrash metal assault. The band’s Metal Blade debut was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Random Awesome Recording Studio in Bay City, MI and produced by BATTLECROSS and Josh Schroeder.
Metal Blade Records is pleased to announce the latest addition to its roster; Detroit Michigan’s very own BATTLECROSS. Incorporating many elements of extreme thrash, death and tech metal, creating a precise blend of fist pumping brutality, intensity, and drive, BATTLECROSS satisfies both the technical metal snob and the knuckle-dragging metal jock alike.
“We are extremely honored to join such a respected label and humbled by their belief in our music. We’re stoked to be part of a label that has a great roster of bands we all admire and respect!” says guitarist Tony Asta. Hiran Deraniyagala (guitarist) adds, “We understand the hard work and pavement pounding that is required of a Metal Blade band and we are going to work our asses’ off to show the world what we’re about.”
“We have been keeping our eyes on BATTLECROSS for some time now and watching the band grow into quite a beast. We feel confident that metalheads across the world will enjoy the ferocity and dedication that BATTLECROSS will be bringing forth on their debut album as well as the stage,” comments Kelli Malella of Metal Blade Records.
The band’s Metal Blade debut is expected this summer followed by a grueling tour schedule that will bring a face melting thrash metal assault. Hide your pizza – hide your beer, because BATTLECROSS wants it all!
Check out the following video of BATTLECROSS to get a taste of what’s to come.
