“Born Undead” DVD out now via Peaceville Records
CALIFORNIA – The U.S. death metal legend, Autopsy, who recently served up the five hour epic DVD, Born Undead, has checked in on the run up to the recording of the band’s sixth studio album, due for release on Peaceville mid-2013:
“Greetings casket crawlers and gore ghouls! Autopsy is ready to bleed out a bit of news for all to gnaw on…
“2012 has been a hell of a year for the band, with the All Tomorrow’s Funerals album release, a string of insane shows throughout the world and the Born Undead DVD hitting the shelves.
“Adding to the insanity is the first official Autopsy sanctioned comic book titled ‘Feast for a Funeral’ out on Halloween 2012. More info on these releases can be found at: http://www.peaceville.com/autopsy/bornundead/.
“Now it is time to begin constructing the next deathly audio monstrosity. Consisting of all new material, Autopsy promises the heaviest, darkest and most devastating album to date.
“This task is not being taken lightly and the band will see to it eardrums are torn, minds are destroyed and skulls are crushed. To make the horror complete, none other than famed artist Joe Petagno is handling the cover painting. Brace yourself for a mid-2013 release and know your hunger for death metal will be met with soul bludgeoning darkness and blood spattering savagery.
“Also, we’ve got a special end-of-year competition for all you sickos, with a chance to win one of 3 signed copies of the Born Undead DVD. To enter just answer this question: ‘Which artist created the cover artwork for the Born Undead DVD?’ Submit answers here: competition@peaceville.co.uk.”
In other Autopsy related news, Peaceville has also just released a vinyl edition of Autopsy’s original 1995 swansong release, the sumptuous, Shitfun, plus the Abscess classic, Through the Cracks of Death, marking 10 years since release, and now presented for the first time ever on vinyl.

“Born Undead” DVD out now via Peaceville Records
CALIFORNIA – Bay Area death metal pioneer, Autopsy, and E-Comix are pleased to announce that Halloween 2012 will be ground zero for the release of “Autopsy: Feast For A Funeral,” a fully-authorized comic book by one of the music industry’s biggest names in metal.
“Autopsy has driven the hearse to bring death metal to the masses since the late 1980s,” said E-Comix President and Publisher, Vince Brusio. “It was a natural fit to fuse their brand of music with a grisly ghost story. So we took the cover image of Severed Survival, expanded on it, and developed a story that takes place on Halloween night. It’s pretty gory stuff. As it should be.”
Vocalist/drummer for Autopsy, Chris Reifert, commented, “We’re damn excited about this, and know it will be a real killer when it’s done!”
Fans can now order “Autopsy: Feast For A Funeral” online at: http://www.jsrdirect.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=ATP.
Shown the cover and told the plot for the book at the 10th Anniversary Maryland Deathfest, Autopsy gave the green light for the project, which brings to life the band’s brand of doom in a ferocious full-color nightmare.
The comic book tells the tale of college kids who make a terrible mistake. One for which they must suffer, and pay in blood. When they play with stolen property at an impromptu field party, they open a doorway that allows spirits into our material world. A rescue is planned, but none of this is made known to a rival biker gang that doesn’t appreciate their turf trampled on by strangers. Seeking vengeance, the gang approach an old abandoned house to wreak havoc on their party crashers, and learn too late that once the door to Hell is opened it can’t be closed.

One of the early breed of US death metal acts, and most respected names in the genre, Autopsy formed in 1987 in San Francisco, and released four albums on Peaceville Records – beginning with the classic debut Severed Survival in 1989 – before disbanding in 1995 with members going on to form Abscess.
Autopsy triumphantly and officially returned from the grave after a 15-year hiatus with the 2010 EP, ‘The Tomb Within,’ delighting critics and fans alike.
The band then released its fifth full length, and first since 1995, Macabre Eternal, in 2011 and the extensive documentary, Born Undead, earlier this year.

Extensive documentary plus extras out June 5th on Peaceville Records
CALIFORNIA – From the macabre tomb of Bay Area death metal pioneer, Autopsy, comes an unrivaled insight into its world of gore and horror in the form of a new DVD, Born Undead, due out on June 5th in North America on Peaceville Records.
Born Undead charters the birth, death and rebirth of the legendary act, with an extensive documentary conducted with the band members themselves, as they describe how the beast came to be, and the impact their music has had on the metal world over a span of more than 20 years.
The film also documents the band’s long-awaited return to the studio and stage, and includes rehearsals of both new tracks and old classics for Autopsy’s live comeback assault. The trio of 2010 reunion shows are all featured, with all the best classic tracks from Maryland Deathfest, PartySan festival and also Hole in the Sky in Norway, where Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler, and Danny Coralles were joined by Dan Lilker on bass.
With hours of footage, as well as extras including the band’s promo video for “All Tomorrow’s Funerals,” “My Corpse Shall Rise” and more, Born Undead is the ultimate set for all Autopsy and metal maniacs alike.
The DVD also contains artwork from Kent Mattieu, who had collaborated with the band on its early classic (and often controversial) album covers.

Hammer Open Air is basically a new festival on the map of Finnish summer festivals. The first Hammer Open Air festival was arranged last year and headlined by Pagan Altar, Grand Belial’s Key, Urfaust, Devil’s Blood and of course had tons of other killer names. The line-up of this year’s Hammer Open Air was pure cult from the beginning to the end. The long time occult black thrashers Absu out of Texas made the first ever visit to Finland and so did the gore death metal legends Autopsy out of San Francisco. In general, Hammer Open Air is a real authentic festival of the most extreme death/black bands for all the extreme black death metal worshippers. The festival ain’t any massive event although the event was completely sold-out. Over 1000 maniacs had arrived to testify a number of great bands. Here is the brief article of the Hammer Open Air festival.

Autopsy emerged in 1987, and had an almost immediate impact on the global underground heavy metal scene. Vocalist Chris Reifert was already known due to his work as drummer with Florida’s highly respected extreme metal combo, Death, along with Chuck Schuldiner. Autopsy’s debut album, Severed Survival, was unleashed in 1989 on Peaceville Records, and the band went on to become true legends in the death metal scene, recording four studio albums in total, before splitting up in the mid 90’s.

The EP’s title track is currently streaming on the album’s mini-site at: http://www.peaceville.com/autopsy/. Along with the song stream, the mini-site also features audio samples of each of the EP’s four other gut-wrenching tracks, as well as an in studio, behind-the-scenes video trailer, offering fans a glimpse at the creative process of Autopsy’s latest musical bloodbath.
Autopsy decided to make an official comeback after working together on two songs for the special 20th anniversary edition of their debut album, Severed Survival, in late 2008. The band had originally decided to split before the release of their 4th album, Shitfun, in 1995..
Autopsy emerged in 1987, and had an almost immediate impact on the global underground heavy metal scene. Frontman Chris Reifert was already known due to his work as drummer with Florida’s highly respected extreme metal combo, Death, along with Chuck Schuldiner. Autopsy’s debut album, Severed Survival, was unleashed in 1989 on Peaceville Records, and the band went on to become a true legend in the death metal scene, recording four studio albums in total, before splitting up in the mid 90’s.
