AS I LAY DYING / Austrian Death Machine Frontman Tim Lambesis Sentenced To Six Years In Prison

May 16th, 2014

According to Radio.com’s Jay Tilles (with reporting by Eva Knott), Tim Lambesis, singer for San Diego metal band As I Lay Dying (also Austrian Death Machine) was sentenced today (May 16th) to six years in prison in a San Diego Superior Courtroom for attempting to hire a hit man to kill his wife. Judge Carlos Armour handed down the sentencing.

Last February, Lambesis threw himself on the mercy of the court by pleading guilty to the felony charge of soliciting the murder of his wife of eight years, Meggan Lambesis.

The verdict was handed down as the singer’s ex-bandmates Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso and Josh Gilbert looked on. Spilling into the section typically reserved for the defense, many of Meggan’s more than three dozen supporters adorned small yellow felt hearts pinned to their shirts to make their sentiments known. With more than 80 spectators packing the gallery, defense attorney Tom Warwick told the judge that he had a lot of people who support Tim and he wanted “some kind of parity” with the seating in the room.

Tim Lambesis posts Pyrithion concept and lyrics video explanation

April 24th, 2013

Tim Lambesis, vocalist for As I Lay Dying, Austrian Death Machine, and most recently, Pyrithion, has posted a new video on youtube.com/timlambesis. In the video, Lambesis explains the concepts behind Pyrithion’s songs, why he decided to pursue this project, and more. View the video now at youtube.com/timlambesis.

About Pyrithion:
It’s a struggle for some bands to get started, while others appear to seamlessly come together. With years of perspective and experience, the three members of Pyrithion – Tim Lambesis, Ryan Glisan, and Andy Godwin – have created a dark and intense death metal record almost overnight. The individual members’ prior success aside, the music speaks for itself.

Pyrithion’s debut release, The Burden of Sorrow, stands as a showcase of what the members are capable of putting together over what merely amounted to an extended weekend. The total potential in Pyrithion is incredible and there is much anticipation for how the band will continue to develop as they prepare for a full length record.

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE to release “Jingle All the Way”; available digitally and on limited 7″ vinyl

November 16th, 2011
AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE - "Jingle All the Way"

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE - "Jingle All the Way"

The one and only Austrian Death Machine spent some time in the studio recently, mostly to lift weights, but also to record a few new songs. The songs are based on the ultimate holiday movie, Jingle All the Way, which stars Ahhnold, of course! The songs are a regaling tale of the pursuit of a one “Turbo Man” doll, sung by Tim Lambesis and Ahhnold.

The digital version of Jingle All the Way will be available for download wherever downloads are sold as of December 6th, 2011 and the limited 7″ vinyl single will be available shortly thereafter and can be pre-ordered now. This piece of vinyl will be the perfect stocking-stuffer for the most brutal of friends and family. Ahhnold only asks that the vinyl not be gifted to “puny wimps” or “girly men”.

Fans can pre-order the Jingle All the Way 7″ now over on metalblade.com/austriandeathmachine and at http://www.blkmarketmerch.com/collections/austrian-death-machine.

From Hell’s Heart – Comedy in Metal (Jan 2010)

COMEDY METAL

Jan. 2010

FHH.png

An extremely rare, but high profile sub-set of Metal releases are comedy albums. A few rare bands decide to release and record albums of metal that are strictly based on humor. Are these parody acts loving tributes or a tongue in cheek, kick at a genre that at times takes itself very seriously? Are these bands worthy of the definition of metal for bringing a new face to the genre, or to be shunned for crude and mean-spirited attempts to make fun of something they don’t understand? Metal comedy. Worthwhile or worthless?
