Original band member/leader and keyboard player Steve Williams – Power Quest

Interviewed by: Anders Sandvall

Thanks to Inner Wound Recordings for the promo pictures of the band.
Live and more photos of the band are from the bands website

If you like well executed power metal with some great vocals, then Power Quest is a band for you. Recently the guys released their sixth album titled SIXTH DIMENSION. The band re-united back in 2016 and SIXTH DIMENSION is the first album since the reunion and also the first studio album since 2011. Me and the original band member/leader and keyboard player Steve Williams hooked up to have a chat about what has happened in the Power Quest camp during the past years. During the bands hiatus, Williams joined forces with Eden’s Curse, so of course I thought we should examine that matter a little closer. Besides that, I also asked him what he and the band thought of being on the road and visiting Sweden, Japan and the US for the first time. If you’re interested in reading some in-depth info about the band, its history, and what they’re up to in 2018 then continue reading…

ANETTE OLZON: Former Nightwish Frontwoman To Release First Solo Album Next Year Via Armoury Records

December 6th, 2013

It is with great pleasure that Armoury Records, in conjunction with earMUSIC, welcomes ANETTE OLZON to their expanding roster of powerful frontwomen.

Best known for her time fronting symphonic metal brigade Nightwish for five years before fleeing the band in 2012, the Swedish born songstress has established herself as a true apex among female rock singers globally and will continue the trend with her forthcoming solo release entitled Shine. Produced by Stefan Örn and Johan Glössner, co-produced by OLZON alongside Johan Kronlund and mixed by Kronlund, Nicklas Flykt and Ronny Lahti (known for his work with Loreen and Roxette), Shine is a logical next step in OLZON‘s flourishing musical journey.

“I am so thrilled to finally release my first solo album,” comments OLZON. “I’ve been working on it for a long time. The album is very personal with songs I’ve been writing since 2009 but there are also very recent songs. The overall message of the album is that life can be really dark and filled with hardship and sadness, but you can always choose to see some light coming through, to make you stronger and full of life, making you shine… no matter what.”

NIGHTWISH

10’TH of MARCH, 2012

ICE HALL, HELSINKI

Symphonic metal quintet Nightwish, the most successful Finnish band abroad at the moment, played a show in front of over 7000 people in Helsinki’s Old Ice Hall. The show was a part of the bands six day Finland tour which was a great hit when all shows were completely sold out. It seems that Nightwish is now having the time of their career although their future was at stake following former vocalist Tarja Turunen’s departure in 2005. Swedish vocalist, Anette Olzon, was chosen to replace Tarja in 2007 the band’s latest two albums DARK PASSION PLAY and IMAGINAERUM have received both critical and commercial success across the globe.

with special comments from Aussie Metalchild (bassist of LORD)

"I love you Anette!" rang out from a young female fan in the first few rows of Sydney’s Nightwish show.

"I love you too," came the wide-smiled and warm reply from Nightwish’s new singer, Anette Olzon, as she made the stage her own and left us with no doubt her place was with this band.

NIGHTWISH´s Tuomas Holopainen & Anette Olzon

June 4th, 2007

NIGHTWISH´s new vocalist Anette Olzon & Tuomas Holopainen

Nightwish´s whole history so far as a successful band, is like a fairytale story only a few of us could ever dream of. The band has sold over 2,5 millions albums worldwide, done several successful tours and overall become one of the most followed bands in the world.

However, almost every fairytale tends to gather some dark clouds above the horizon at some point, I guess that´s what happened to Nightwish as well when they fired their previous frontwoman Tarja Turunen in the end of 2005. After this news reached the public´s ears, the band went through a merciless crossfire that really tested the grounds of the band somewhat heavily. With all the strenght and faith they had in the band, they struggled forward, found Anette Olzon from Katrineholm, Sweden to unite the Nightwish´s troops, making it a stronger and tighter package than ever before. Nightwish is ready to conquer to the whole world again.

I met a good-humored, always friendly and ruminative Tuomas Holopainen and the new, lovely frontwoman of Nightwish, Anette Olzon at Hotel President in Helsinki on May 30th 2007 – and we talked mainly about ´the hot topic of the day´ Anette herself, the band´s forthcoming 6th yet-untitled studio album, and their upcoming world tour that quite surprisingly, starts off in Tel Aviv, Israel on October 6th 2007.
