ALESTORM: Album & Video Update

April 22nd, 2011

Back Through Time” will hit the Seven Seas in early June and will be available as a REGULAR JEWEL CASE, DIGIBOOK incl. 2 bonus tracks, BOXSET incl. digibook and pendant &  DELUXE BOX SET incl. digibook and Captain Morgan bobblehead! Fans of vinyl may choose between a BLACK or a SILVER edition. All editions come with a free poster. This offer is only good while supplies last!

In addition, a new video will soon be released. The band issued the following update with regard to its production.

“Ahoy you bunch of bastards! We’ve just got back from sunny Belgrade in Serbia, where we’ve been filming the music video for our new song “Shipwrecked”. No expense was spared in the making of it, and I can confidently say that it’s gonna be the best damn music video ever.’But how can you be so sure?’ I hear you ask. Here’s why: violin playing midgets! Hot medieval babes! Ridiculous CGI! Rampant alcohol abuse! All this and much much more! The video was directed by the mighty Ivan Colic (Epica, Kamelot, Kataklysm), and should be released sometime in May, a month before our forthcoming album “Back Through Time” hits the stores! I’m sure like us, you can’t wait to see the finished thing! Happy pirating, everyone!”

Finnish Metal Expo – Cable Factory Helsinki Finland

March 29th, 2009

FME – Finnish Metal Expo / Helsinki Metal Meeting

Cable Factory, Helsinki, Finland

The 12 –13 th of February 2009

FME – Finnish Metal Expo has become a serious metal event and a gathering place for the metal community. The purpose of the whole event is to gather all the important and influential persons, labels and managers involved in the rock/metal business to meet each other and above all have a relaxed feeling and enjoy the atmosphere with colleagues, beer, and tasteful food. Several famous faces could be witnessed from the music business and of course a lot of metal fans having a chance to take pics with their idols. Several instrument clinics played an important role at the Expo when  for example George Kollias from Nile demonstrated his drumming talent.

Even though the previous events have been completely sold out and were an utter success, the fifth expo wasn’t sold out even though 6000 people visited during two days. However, here is a brief article covering a few bands and in general the feeling of the Expo. It is truly impossible to check out each band in action because of the normal schmoozing with personal contacts and other  important persons.

Bloodstock Open Air 2008

October 17th, 2008

All pics and words by HannTu

(except where noted)

For an introduction to what Bloodstock Open Air is all about, check out my preview of it here. Suffice it to say that BOA is the only proper UK outdoor metal festival that is devoted to true metal of all genres. This would be the first time I was making the trip up to the Midlands to cover this amazing festival.

Reaching there late Thursday night, we set up camp and went off to explore. BOA has one of the most random things I’d expect at a metal festival: a shisha tent! Armed with a 1.5 litre bottle of JD and two bongs of shisha, we spent the night there meeting weird and crazy people (Frida from Sweden, if you’re reading this, get in touch!). After a disgusting fry-up at the All-Day Breakfast bar, I went off to bed to catch some shut-eye before Friday’s bands. Good start to BOA!

Turisas / Norther / Alestorm – Electric Ballroom, London

March 16th, 2008

with Norther and Alestorm

Electric Ballroom, London

13th March 2008

All live pics and review by HannTu

There was a noticeable party mood around the venue tonight, even though many of the fans had been standing outside in the London drizzle for the best part of two hours. I suppose that was in keeping with the sea-faring (you’ll see) outdoorsy spirit of the line-up tonight. For once, much of the buzz wasn’t about the headliner, nor even the supporting band. For once, the buzz was about the opening band. The fans came dressed up to party, drink and have a good time, and the Turisas nutters were out in force decked out with battle paint and fur, and plastic swords and Viking helmets in abundance. And cudgels. Cudgels for fuck’s sake. I sometimes wonder. Anyway…
