INTERVIEW WITH JUAN GARCIA:

GUITARIST OF EVILDEAD AND AGENT STEEL

Interview and live pictures by Arto Lehtinen

Back in the 80′s albums such as UNSTOPPABLE FORCE, SKEPTICS APOCALYPSE, ANNIHILATION OF CIVILIZATION were effectively spun on the record players of several thrash metal fans. Those albums belonged to the raging thrash metal era when thrash metal was unique and intense. The gigs were pure mayhem and chaos. Juan Garcia of Agent Steel and Evildead, and of course Abattoir, has been in the metal scene and seen the furious metal years in the 80′s, the low times in the 90′s, and the resurrection of metal. Agent Steel were a unique band with vocalist John Cyriis with the traditional classic metal style. After Bruce Hall’s departure from Agent Steel, Cyriis returned to the band. Besides Agent Steel, Juan Garcia is also involved in the reunited thrash metal patrol Evildead. The five piece recently published a new song and are doing more and more gigs. I had a pleasant task to talk Juan Garcia about both bands and how he views metal nowadays.

SWEDENROCK 2011

August 1st, 2011

swedenrock2011.jpg

Let Me Hear You Scream Sweden Rockkkk.Well the annual roadtrip to Swedenrock by the Finnish Metal Rules.com team is already into it’s 11th year!  The  2011 line up presented a wide range of metal and hard rock in the line-up. Over 70 metal and rock bands offered one hell of an experience for the attendees. Sweden Rock has been successful during the past ten years as the festival has always been sold out. This year wasn’t any exception as the fest was sold out despite the lousy economic situation worldwide and the ticket price had risen a little bit. ver these 11 years of coverage, it has become quite logical for us to give an in depth article of several bands performing at Sweden Rock to all the readers out there. The  weather once again showed positive and negative aspects like in 2010. It either rained or was windy with a little sunshine. But we were there for bands, not for having some beach party crap. Unfortunately, we are not able to cover every bloody band, but hopefully you will have a pleasant reading experience… Enjoy or die!!!

Jalometalli 2009

October 20th, 2009

 yla_logo.jpg

bandtaulu2009_c.jpg

The Jalometalli Open Air Metal festival has gained its status as well as place on the Finnish festival map. Although there are plenty of metal oriented festivals arranged all around in Finland, the Jalometalli festival has found its own style and approach in the metal festival offering in Finland. It doesn’t rely on the current hot names on the market like Volbeat and so on, instead the festival offers a more interesting line-up mostly consisting of old school thrash metal and of course death and black metal by having bands which have either never or rarely visited Finland. Especially several 80s thrash metal legends such as Whiplash, Agent Steel have never been seen on the soil of Finland. Now it is about time. Therefore the Metal-Rules.com team made a real assault at Jalometalli by witnessing plenty of killer bands and seeing the general atmosphere and here is the result.

June 15th, 2007

AGENT STEEL guitarist Juan Garcia & and vocalist Bruce Hall talk about the new album, ALIENIGMA

Interview by Luxi Lahtinen

Agent Steel have just finished the mixing process of the band´s 5 full-lenght album, ALIENENIGMA, with Bill Metoyer in charge to lead the ship. ALIENIGMA will also be released via Agent Steel´s new label Mascot Records. The band´s deal with their previous label, Italian Scarlet Records, came to an end with the 4-song EP titled EARTH UNDER LUCIFER. A multi-deal contract with the Holland-based label Mascot Records was signed in the beginning of 2007. Agent Steel also have a European tour coming up (starting from Frankfurt, Germany on September 5th 2007), but before jumping that far into the distant future, let´s hear what Agent Steel has to say about their new album ALIENIGMA. Let the band´s guitarist Juan Garcia and vocalist Bruce Hall tell you everything about that – amongst other interesting things as well…

Hell Destroyer Record Release

Review and pics for ThrashKreator

Cage and Agent Steel on the same stage; quite the bill for a small club on the outskirts of < ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />San Diego. They are two bands that need little introduction to those who are fans of the old school. The occasion for this show is the return of Cage with the release of “Hell Destroyer”, the bands first album since 2003’s “Darker Than Black”, which held high critical acclaim and topped several “Best of” lists for that year (my own included)

Keep It True IV

July 4th, 2005

Keep It True IV
Review and Pics by Blackgoat & Skyklad

Friday April 1st
Warm Up “Fist Held High”
Dittigheim “Sporthalle”

For the fourth time in not even 2 years Skyklad and I went on this pilgrimage of Metal. Our trip from Regensburg to Tauberbischofsheim (a 2 hour drive) went surprisingly uneventful thanks to a quick trip to the FIAT dealer the day before where I had the loose muffler of my car welded. It would’ve been a disaster losing that on the motorway and most definetly more expensive than the 3 EUR I had to pay there. Saved us a lot of money for the impending Metal Market.
