The invitation-only gala will take place on April 17th, 2013 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The event will also celebrate the songwriters and publishers of ASCAP’s most performed pop songs of 2012.

The ASCAP Founders Award honors pioneering songwriters who have made exceptional contributions to music, inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators. “To be recognized by ASCAP with the Founders Award is a huge achievement,” commented Steven Tyler. “It is humbling for Joe and me to be honored for our music alongside the likes of Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Paul McCartney and Joni Mitchell. It’s been a life-long love affair and it’s far from over. Besides, any society that lets Tom Waits in…I’m there!”

Joe Perry commented: “As songwriters, it is a great honor to have ASCAP recognize Steven and me with the Founders Award. We join an incredible list of honorees and we are grateful to ASCAP for their support throughout our career.”

Co-founding members of legendary rock band Aerosmith, the songwriting team of Steven Tyler and Joe Perry has sold more than 150 million albums worldwide to-date. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees since 2001, they are the recipients of countless awards including four Grammys, eight American Music Awards, six Billboard Awards and 12 MTV Video Music Awards, among many others. With scores of multi-platinum albums, their music remains influential to this day, inspiring listeners of all ages to get their wings, get a grip and just push play. The band’s 15th studio album, 2012’s Music from Another Dimension!, features songs penned by both Tyler and Perry, who also served as producers on the album.

“As part of one of our nation’s greatest and most iconic rock bands, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry crafted the music that defined a generation and continues to inspire songwriters today,” commented Paul Williams. “They are true musical pioneers whose contributions to American songwriting are immeasurable. We are extremely proud to honor these cultural icons with the ASCAP Founders Award.”

The 30th annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards will also honor the songwriters and publishers of the most performed songs of 2012. Top awards will be given out for Songwriter of the Year, Song of the Year and Publisher of the Year.

The ceremony comes on the eve of the 8th annual ASCAP “I Create Music” EXPO, a three-day conference dedicated to songwriting and composing. Steven Tyler will also give a keynote interview at the ASCAP EXPO with entertainment news journalist Roger Friedman. STEVEN TYLER Launces New App.

March 4th, 2011

The iconic rocker and American Idol judge, Steven Tyler has launched his new mobile App, “Steven Tyler’s AppSoLewdly” today, available exclusively at the iTunes app store.  For $2.99, fans can have access to exclusive, unpredictable, and uncensored content including self made videos, never before seen photos and other noises from his head like a digital sound box filled with his most outrageous and funny “Tylerisms.” The app can be purchased at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/steven-tyler-appsolewdly/id420293536?mt=8&ls=1.

Straight from his mind, Tyler’s self-created App is an intimate journey in the daily and deeply personal adventures of the Demon of Screamin’ himself!  Chronicling everything from his new life in California, to the set of American Idol and into the depths of working in the recording studio this is the one and only place to see the full and un-edited man himself.

Just like Steven, you can never predict what videos or photos will be available, so fans should be sure to check the App often.

Steven Tyler is the iconic songwriter, lyricist, author, composer and voice of Aerosmith – America’s Greatest Rock and Roll band – and is considered one of rock’s most recognizable and dynamic frontmen. Rolling Stone Magazine has cited him one of the greatest singers of all time. He is currently a judge on American Idol, a role for which The New York Times referred to him as “genius” in.  His long anticipated autobiography, Does The Noise In My Head Bother You? is set for release in May 2011.  A new Aerosmith record is expected later this year and a tour has been confirmed with dates to be announced.

SWEDENROCK FESTIVAL 2010

MARKO SYRJÄLÄ, ARTO LEHTINEN, PATRICK CLEMENT

Jävlä Swedenrock, här kommer vi igen. The annual roadtrip to Swedenrock by the Finnish Metal‑Rules.Com  team is already the tenth time in a row.  The  2010 line‑up presented a wide range of metal and hard rock. Therefore, over 70 bands offered nothing but an utter blast and a helluv an experience for the attendees to enjoy metal and rock. Swedenrock has been successful during the past ten years as the festival has always been sold out. This year wasn’t any exception as the fest was sold out despite the lousy economomic situation worldwide. As mentioned in the first sentence, this is the tenth time in a row when Sweden Rock has been featured on Metal‑Rules.com, so it is quite logical for us to give a real in‑depth article of several bands performing at Sweden Rock. The  weather wasn’t ideal compared to previous years. It either rained or was windy with a little sunshine. But we were there for bands, not for having some beach party. We are not able to cover every bloody band, but hopefully you will have a pleasant reading experience… Enjoy or die !!!

Aerosmith: Live in Helsinki, Finland.

November 6th, 2007

AEROSMITH

07.07 2007

Hartwall Arena, Helsinki

The Boston based Aerosmith was one of the biggest rock bands of the ’70s. Even then the band had a unique ability to pull off both ballads and rockers which brought them a string of gold and platinum albums. “Toys in the Attic”, “Rocks” and “Draw the Line” amongst others are undeniable classics. After a while though, things started to change. In the early ’80s, the group lost their original lineup and soon after their audiences started to dissipate while some of the members suffered from serious intoxicant problems. As a result they were nearly destroyed, but somehow managed to pull their act together and in the late ’80s accomplish one of the most successful comebacks in history. Returning to the top of the charts with a series of albums like “Pump” and “Get a Grip”, with the help of MTV, they even managed to top the sales of their ’70s albums. To this day Aerosmith remains one of the biggest live acts in the rock world.

SWEDENROCK 6-9 June 2007

July 8th, 2007

Article and pics by Arto Lehtinen and Marko Syrjälä

(Addiotional comments by J. Huovila – Thanks)

Wow! This is the seventh time that the Finnish Metal-Rules squad made an invasion to the mighty Swedenrock festival. Almost 70 bands descended upon the southern area of Sweden for a festival that turned out to be an utter blast from the beginning to the end! The bill of Swedenrock festival 2007 covers a wide range of metal styles and even classic rock stuff such as Kreator to Black Oak Arkansas and everything between. Therefore, there was at least something for everyone who attended the festival. As usual, the whole festival was once again sold out with around 30,000 people at the area every day. The Swedenrock festival has always had tremendous luck with the weather every year. Once again the gods of weather had given their blessing for this rocking metallic heaven on the earth with an extreme hot and sunny weekend that burned red the skin of several festival goers.

As written in the first sentence, this is already the seventh time that the Swedenrock festival has been featured in the site of Metal-Rules.com, so it is quite logical for us to give an in-depth article of several bands performing at Swedenrock. However we are not able to cover every band, but hopefully you will have a pleasant reading moment… Enjoy !!!
