The next installment of the Ωmega Wave Podcast with Craig Locicero of FORBIDDEN & co-host “Barbwire” Bill Shields will feature Charles Elliott, guitarist/vocalist/founding member of Abysmal Dawn.  Tune in here this Sunday, May 29th at 6:00 p.m. PACIFIC / 9:00 p.m. EASTERN.

The Ωmega Wave Podcast speaks off-the-cuff on whatever news-related and controversial subject may come up and takes questions from listeners. The goals of the show are two-fold:

1) To speak to different compelling and controversial lyricists in Metal and Hard Rock.  They will be asked about their motivation, their craft, and what exactly inspires them in these challenging times to do what they do.  Their thoughts & opinions on the most current affairs and intensely debated issues will also be discussed.

2) Have listeners sit in on a real conversation between good friends without censorship watering those thoughts down.  Reactions are never filtered. These conversations can get very heated at times, depending on the topic.

Previous guests include Henrik Ohlsson of Scar Symmetry, Barney Greenway of Napalm Death, Neil Fallon (Clutch, the Company Band), and C.J. “The Metal Motivator” Ortiz.

We aren’t afraid to experiment a little especially if the song calls for it. We listen to a lot of different styles of music but we’re primarily an extreme metal band of course.

“Having great artwork is important to me though and I feel like it affects the vibe of a whole record. ”

Regarding the song ”The Sleeper Awakens”…….”It’s actually Erik Rutan’s favorite song and it’s sort of ironic that one of the brutalist people on the planet would be into the mellowest song on the record. ”

Leveling The Plane of Existence, the follow-up 2008’s Programmed To Consume, is set for a February 1^st North American release date (February 7^th– UK, February 11^th – Germany, Benelux, February 14^th – rest of EU) and is available for pre-order here. A deluxe digital version of the album, which includes four bonus tracks and digital booklet, is also available for pre-order at iTunes.

ABYSMAL DAWN was joined by guest musicians Moyses Kolesne (KRISIUN) and Kragen Lum (HEATHEN, PROTOTYPE) during the recording of Leveling The Plane of Existence. Kolesne provides a guitar solo on the track “Pixilated Ignorance” and Lum adds guitar solos on “Rapture Renowned” and the title track that can be heard now at MetalManiacs.com.

ABYSMAL DAWN will embark on the first North American tour in support of Leveling The Plane of Existence starting in late February. ABYSMAL DAWN will be teaming up with KATAKLYSM, ALL SHALL PERISH, DECREPIT BIRTH and more for this four-week tour that will kick-off on February 24th in Cleveland, OH. The band has also confirmed a local headlining show for January 18^th at the Chain Reaction in Anaheim. A listing of confirmed tour dates and cites can be found below with more to be announced soon.

ABYSMAL DAWN guitarist / vocalist Charles Elliott commented on the guest spots; “I had so many leads to lay down while trying to finish up lyrics etc., that I started thinking about who I’d love to have do some guest solos for us. I’ve known Moyses ever since we toured with KRISIUN in 2006 and I think he’s one of the most talented yet underrated guitarist in death metal. If you listen to the face melting lead that he laid down for us I think you’ll see what I mean. He recorded a trade off solo with me for the track ‘Pixilated Ignorance’, which is probably the fastest and most technical track on the record. His in your face style fit the song perfectly and I don’t think I could have picked a better song for him to play on.”

“I also had Kragen Lum from HEATHEN and PROTOTYPE come down to the studio, and lay down some trade offs with me on ‘Rapture Renowned’ and “Leveling…”. I’ve been a fan of his playing since I was a teenager so it was an honor to have him shred on our record. We share a lot of the same progressive influences when it comes to lead playing so his style fit the band like a glove. I highly recommend you check out his bands if you’re open minded and into progressive and thrash stuff.”

Los Angeles, CA’s ABYSMAL DAWN has announced the title of their forthcoming album as Leveling The Plane of Existence. Leveling The Plane of Existence, the follow-up 2008’s Programmed To Consume, has been set for a February 1^st North American release date (February 7^th – UK, February 11^th – Germany, Benelux, February 14^th – rest of EU). Additional album details including album art and track listing will be posted shortly.

ABYSMAL DAWN began recording Leveling The Plane of Existence in May 2010. The drums were recorded at Trench Studios in Corona, CA with John Haddad (PHOBIA, INTRONAUT, HIRAX) with the rest of the instrumentation being produced and recorded by Mike Bear (ARTISAN, ex-PROTOTYPE) at Artisan Road Studios in Encino, CA. Leveling The Plane of Existence is being mixed and mastered by Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, GOATWHORE, HATE ETERNAL) at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, FL.

ABYSMAL DAWN guitarist/vocalist Charles Elliott recently commented on the album; “After a series of set backs, illness, and going through a world of shit in our personal lives, we had no choice but to make this record our revenge and the defining moment for ABYSMAL DAWN. We’ve had the finished mixes for about a week now and everyone that has heard it has been just blown away. We can already tell that this will be the record that the band will become known for. It’s a very varied, extreme, technical, and melodic record and I can promise you that no one will be disappointed.”

The yet-untitled album’s drum parts were recorded at Trench Studios in Corona, CA with John Haddad (PHOBIA, INTRONAUT, HIRAX). The majority of the sessions were produced and recorded by Mike Bear (ARTISAN, ex-PROTOTYPE), at Artisan Road Studios in Encino, CA and the CD was mixed and mastered by Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, GOATWHORE, HATE ETERNAL) at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, FL. An early 2011 release date is expected with additional recording / album details to be made available shortly.

ABYSMAL DAWN are currently working on the follow-up album to their Relapse debut Programmed To Consume.
