3 INCHES OF BLOOD Debut New “Silent Killer” Video (Banned By MTV)

September 8th, 2010

The biggest defenders of traditional heavy metal, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, have teamed back up with acclaimed director Rick Podd (The Watcher, Hellraiser), who previously shot their “Battles and Brotherhood” video, to shoot a new clip for the track “Silent Killer.” The video has been banned by MTV for its bloody content, so therefore the fine folks at Bloody Disgusting are now set to exclusively debut this clip. Click on the link below to check it out now.
http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/music/987

Shane Clark (guitars) states: “The concept of the song is about an assassin, so naturally we first thought of a concept featuring an assassin going around doing what they do, but in a style that is more influenced by movies that we liked. At first we thought about a simple performance style video but we’ve done that a few times and this seemed like a much more entertaining thing for us and our fans. Therefore, we brainstormed a bunch of ideas with Rick Podd and thought of our own killing scenes. I wanted to get poisoned and puke blood and vomit all over the place, and after that it was all in the hands of Rick. I really had a good time with the acting stuff; it was great to work with Chris Valago as well. Some know him as the Heathen from Zimmer’s Hole, he’s the big FX banana in the Vancouver TV & Film industry, more importantly he’s a good friend of mine so we got to sit and plan out the puking at great length, I’m really happy with how that turned out. As for the entire final product, I’m very happy with it, having everyone work together on something and have it turn out great is really satisfying.”

3 INCHES OF BLOOD just wrapped up a very successful run on this summer’s Mayhem Fest and have posted a video online that documents their daily activities as a part of this event. Goatwhore & 3 Inches Of Blood – Live in Ottawa

June 12th, 2010
Goatwhore & 3 Inches Of Blood Raze Capital City

May 4, 2010  Ottawa, ON, Ritual Nightclub

Review and pics by Shawn Jam Hill

After an unusually mild April here in Ottawa, Canada came to a close, an insipid blackened chill blanketed the early daze of May. Could it be an unseasonable thermodynamic change brought upon by some of heavy metal’s elite galloping into town astride their warhorses, chasing victory while brandishing swords/pointy guitars of doom, death and destruction? It was not a coincidence that the malevolent weather ushered in the heaviest beatdown of the nascent Spring tour season: Canada’s Greatest Heavy Metal Band, the pride of Vancouver, 3 Inches Of Blood not only took the stage, screaming for vengeance in a denim-clad cavalcade of guitar-wielding awesomeness but their loyal henchmen, Louisiana’s Goatwhore came along for a ride across the melting tundra to peel back the faces of the faithful.

Shane Clark of 3 Inches of Blood

September 16th, 2009

3ioblogo.jpg

It’s probably fair to say that 3 Inches of Blood are one of the most original Metal acts of the past six or seven years. Though they borrow a little bit from here and there, they still manage to have their own transcendent sound. With deadly anthems and a powerful sonic onslaught, they are the purveyors of pure North American Metal. Recently Shane Clark, guitarist extraordinaire, spoke to Metal Rules about their latest opus.

WACKEN 2008

October 14th, 2008

Wacken Open Air 2008

Once again tens of thousands of lunatic metal freaks travelled from all over the world to the small German village located in the middle of the beautiful northern German countryside. The small peaceful Wacken literally goes upside down when nearly 80.000 conquer the village during one weekend in a year. Wacken Open Air celebrated its 19th birthday from the 31st of July to the 2nd of August, whose biggest headliner ever in the history of Wacken was Iron Maiden. Despite Iron Maiden being the biggest name on the bill, however there were tons of other interesting and fascinating names.

Brat: The mass convergence of catholic youth in Sydney for World Youth Day the week Ray and I left brought a smile to my face and a feeling of warmth as I realised it wouldn’t be long until I was part of a similar pilgrimage but to Hamburg Germany and with two major differences—where Sydney was awash with colourful youth, Hamburg would be invaded by a swarm of black; and the trolley suitcases carrying clothing would instead be trolleys full of beer; songs of the gospel would be replaced by metal anthems. They came to worship at the cross—we to worship at the flaming longhorn but we all would display our nations’ flags proudly.

Tickets for W:O:A 2008 sold phenomenally fast. The special edition X-mas pack with extra goodie bag sold out before I could take a long breath after my 2007 trip. By February the official festival ticket seller was “SOLD OUT”. Suddenly the ebay market was flooded with tickets with one ticket reaching a record price of 800 British Pounds—obscene. Even in July with less than 1 month before the festival, there was an average of 5 new listings a day for tickets, which nullified all “SOLD OUT” credibility. (Brat)

Watch Them Die – Vocalist Pat Vigil

November 22nd, 2005

Interview With Vocalist Pat Vigil

Interview By Lord of The Wasteland

All photos courtesy of Century Media Records and Watch Them Die

Watch Them Die’s new CD, BASTARD SON, hit me like a ton of bricks upon first listen.  Not only is the Oakland-based band pulverizing in its intensity and outright brutality, but the thrash-influenced riffs of Greg Valencia and ferocious vocals of Pat Vigil tore me a new one.  With every other new CD released these days seeming to be a metalcore hackfest, it was refreshing to hear an American band flip off the norm and go right for the jugular.

Pat Vigil took the time to answer a few questions about the new album, their just-completed tour with Exodus and 3 Inches of Blood, being on the road with GWAR and how the combination of Black Metal, punk, hardcore and Bay Area thrash bands shaped the ass-kicking sound of Watch Them Die…

Another business trip seemed to have worked out quite well. I was sent to Portland to work on some stuff. I called my friend Pest who immediately told me that Exodus was going to be in town that night and that we should go and see them. Of course I totally agreed..
