Earlier this year the Danish band Evil Masquerade released their fourth album called FADE TO BLACK. I got together with bandleader and guitar player Henrik Flyman and a lot has happened in the band since we last talked. This interview is about the new album, the new line up, label and much much more. Here you get all the things you possibly would like to know about the band Evil Masquerade.
Elvenking are an Italian folk/power metal band that emerged in the late 90’s and shook the underground with the release of the now cult classic HEATHENREEL in 2001. I spoke to the band’s guitarist, Aydan, about that monumental album, the bands changes since then and about their latest acoustic album TWO TRAGEDY POETS (…and a Caravan of Weird Figures).
Embarking on a 36 date jaunt through the United States and Canada in support of "Hordes of Chaos" the 12th studio album released by German thrash metal legends Kreator; frontman Mille Petrozza took some time out of his hectic schedule to talk about the new album, touring with his old friends Exodus, the band’s involvement with PETA, his memories of fallen comrade Chris Witchunter and more…
I had the opportunity to hear INVITATION TO FOREVER from Takara and it turned out to be a really good melodic metal album. Therefore I had to talk to the man behind the band, guitar player and band leader Neal Grusky. He was kind enough to let me do this interview with him. He answered questions about the band, the new lineup, label and much more.

PURE is the name of the brand new solo album by well known multi-instrumentalist/producer/guitarist Chris Laney. On PURE Laney delivers straight up American glam/sleaze 80’s hardrock. Laney is a very busy man and I was really glad when he decided to take the time to talk to me.

Wessamuni Fonseka and Naga Yakka of Funeral in Heaven
Interviewed by Marko Guevara
Honestly, I must say that I’m really surprised to find a black metal band from Sri Lanka. There are so many things to ask and say about this Funeral in Heaven – can you imagine an extreme metal band in such an extreme environment and the whole cultural history behind them? Funeral in Heaven speaks to us by way of front man Wessamuni Fonseka and Guitarrist Naga Yakka.
The Black Curse Over Hellsinki was a two-day black metal mass festival arranged in the mid of April. During two days, the most obscure and nihilistic black metal outfits got on the stage to spread their own blasphemic messages in front of hundreds of people. However, the second day was without any doubts extremely tempting and interesting because of the headliner of the day being Root hailing from Republic Czechia and two leading black metal names Impaled Nazarene and Enochian Crescent. As usual hundreds of people had arrived to testify the ritual during these days and especially the venue was entirely packed on the second day.
Daedalus is an Italian act that perhaps isn’t well known to the great masses. I decided to change that when I heard their second album called THE NEVER ENDING ILLUSION which has the potential of becoming a ground breaking masterpiece in the bands own genre. Progressive metal is the music of Daedalus and I had the opportunity to speak with guitarist Andrea Torretta.

In recognition of 40 spooktacular years of hard rocking horror-metal, jaw dropping theatrics and a consistently over the top stage production; shock rock icon Alice Cooper was presented with a "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the 2009 Texas Frightmare Weekend convention in Dallas, Texas. Never at a loss for words, Alice conducted a brief question and answer session with attendees and well wishers who turned out to watch the legendary singer/actor/radio personality and golf enthusiast accept the award.
On April 12th, 2009 the eighth sold out gig in only six days, at the legendary Tavastia Club in Helsinki, concluded the series of farewell performances by HANOI ROCKS. After putting out three albums, TWELVE SHOTS ON THE ROCKS in 2002, ANOTHER HOSTILE TAKEOVER in 2005 and STREET POETRY in 2007, since reuniting, Andy McCoy and Michael Monroe have decided to call it a day.
To coincide with the farewell tour, a book entitled "All Those Wasted Years" has been released, but since it hardly scratches the surface concerning the more recent stages of the band we decided to sit down for a chat with current guitarist Conny Bloom and bassist Andy Christell. Both also share a long history in connection with HANOI ROCKS, having already toured alongside them in the 1980’s with THE ROAD RATS [also featuring ex-HANOI ROCKS drummer, Gyp Casino]. In addition to HANOI ROCKS and THE ROAD RATS, Conny Bloom and Andy Christell have played and reaped success together in ROLENE and most importantly the, now reunited, ELECTRIC BOYS.

Prong are one of those bands that took different elements and styles and mixed them together and offered something completely new yet crushingly heavy. Many bands copied some of what they did, but the band never became as much of a household name as they should have. We spoke to Tommy about his career, playing in Ministry and Danzig, and asked for his reflections on things like the impact Prong has made, why the band broke up and then returned, and why in 2009 Prong is still here kicking our asses!
Orange Sky is a self described "Roots Rock" band hailing from the Caribbean island of Trinidad. While Trinidad may be well known for introducing the rest of the world to the Limbo dance and Calypso music, it is certainly not known for being a Heavy Metal hotspot. Orange Sky is looking to change that. Orange Sky’s unique sound blends together elements of hard rock, heavy metal, and reggae. Yes, you read that correctly… reggae. Now before you go and ask me "Where do you find these bands?" I’d like to point out that sometimes these bands find you, such is the case with Trinidad’s loudest export who first caught my attention playing a smouldering set opening up for Yngwie Malmsteen on his "Unleash The Fury" tour.
"Dat Iz Voodoo" the second album from Orange Sky is now being supported by a Stateside jaunt with King’s X. Nigel Rojas, the upbeat guitarist and vocalist of the band dropped me a line from the road to fill us in one how everything is going.
Mithras out of England have been around since 1998 and have unleashed three full length albums. The band has never really captured the limelight that much despite having great and extremely technical and high skilled death metal. Therefore it is about time to find out what’s up in the Mithras camp as the previous release BEHIND THE SHADOWS LIE MADNESS came out a few years back. Both Lean Macey and Sean Bean shed some light on what’s up at the moment and other issues.
