Diabolical Conquest Records sign blackened Death Metal band Preludium from Mielec, Poland.

August 25th, 2010
by EvilG

Diabolical Conquest founder Kunal N. Choksi comments, “Most death metal bands today either shamelessly rip-off old school bands or contribute to brutal redundancy. Having promoted Preludium on our webzine before and being aware of their style, I am pleased to be in a position to sign a band that does neither; Preludium play black metal-tinged fast, raw and vicious death metal with an imperial air. I believe this decade old band has great potential and I wish to give them the support and promotion that they deserve.”

Preludium guitarist and vocalist Łukasz Dziamarski adds, “We’re very proud of the fact that we joined Diabolical Conquest Records. Thanks to Diabolical Conquest’s broad experience in promoting bands around the world, we believe that our third album will reach a wider audience. We have great hopes for our partnership.”

Preludium’s third full length album is called ‘Impending Hostility‘ and will be released worldwide through Diabolical Conquest Records. More information about the album will be revealed soon.

Shot in the style of a classic black and white horror film, video offers all of the aggression and fierce gore that fans have come to love about MUNICIPAL WASTE and FANGORIA.

“Acid Sentence”
was directed by David McKendry. All of their hard effort has paid off in a video that stands alone as a pure piece of memorable horror.

OSI (Office of Strategic Influence) is an American progressive experimental super-group formed by Fates Warning guitarist Jim Matheos back in 2003 and features the talents of Kevin Moore (Chroma Key, Dream Theater). The band’s name refers to the short-lived US government agency Office of Strategic Influence which was established shortly after 9/11 to manufacture and promote pro-US propaganda in domestic and foreign media. OSI inked a deal with Metal Blade Records back in May and is currently working on their fourth album and Metal Blade debut, which will be out in 2011. The band gained a strong underground following through the release of their 3 full-length records and an EP. Their 2009 album, Blood and includes guests Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) and Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth). Past participants include Mike Portnoy on the first two albums, Sean Malone and Steven Wilson on the debut, and Joey Vera (Armored Saint, Fates Warning) on Free.

OSI’s music can’t easily be pigeonholed and is a completely different animal when compared to its founders’ other projects. The music is a combination of dark rock chorus’ with atmospheric, often industrial keys and is an eclectic mix of both Moore’s and Matheos’ influences.

The exclusive re-release of “Sore”, the second album by one of the most unique bands – Buzzoven

August 25th, 2010
by EvilG

Metal Mind Productions presents a re-release of “Sore”, the second album by one of the most unique and overlooked bands of the US underground – Buzzoven.

Buzzoven (also known as Buzzov•en) was a sludge metal band from North Carolina, formed in 1989 by the remaining members of Sewer Puppet. The band was known for being one of the founders of the sludge genre (right after Eyehategod), and also for their out-of-control and violent live shows. The band in its early days toured heavily around the United States and built up a cult following leading up to the release of their debut 1993 album, “To a Frown”. The album caught the attention of more prominent Roadrunner Records, who decided to release the band’s second album “Sore” in 1994. Yet instead of garnering the type of recognition as some of their label mates (Sepultura or Fear Factory, for example), Buzzov-en remained very much a cult band, continuing to tour heavily but ultimately disintegrating before they could issue a follow-up.

The bands second release “Sore” is a sonic assault to all senses, a devastating punch in the face of brutality and complete hatred towards human kind. It is highly recommended for fans of bands like EyeHateGod and mid-era Neurosis. The new digipak edition of “Sore” includes a bonus CD containing 4 additional tracks. Remastered using tube technology, digitally edited on a golden disc. Limited to 2000 copies. Metal Mind Productions set up the release date for 4th October in Europe and 5th October in USA (via MVD).

“Sore” (remastered + bonus tracks)

Label: Metal Mind Records

Cat. No.: MASS CD 1366 DGD

Barcode: 5907785036017

Format: 2CD Digipak (limited edition of 2000 numbered copies)

Genre: Sludge metal

Release date: 04.10.2010 Europe / 05.10.2010 USA

CD 1:

1. Sore

2. Unwilling To Explain

3. Hollow

4. Done

5. I Don’t Like You

6. Broken

7. Pathetic

8. Should I

9. Behaved

10. Blinded

11. Grit

12. This Is Not…

CD 2 (bonus tracks):

1. Mainline

2. Paintake

3. Breed

ACLLA: bassist plays with Andre Matos band

August 25th, 2010
by EvilG

The bassist Bruno Ladislau (ACLLA) is temporarily playing in Andre

Matos band (ex-Angra, Shaaman, Viper). He has been replacing Luis

Mariutti who was absent in the last performances of the band.

Bruno was requested for other events such as Bittencourt Project and

Time Out – replacing Felipe Andreoli in both of these – and last year

he played with Tim “Ripper” Owens (ex-Iced Earth, Judas Priest) in his

last Brazilian tour in October and November.

According Bruno Ladislau: “It is an honor to replace those musicians

that have influenced me along my career. I admire and have a great

respect for Luis and Felipe. It is such a big responsibility to

replace them. On the other hand, I had an excellent opportunity to

present my work as a musician. I am really grateful with the feedback

from the fans that have been supporting me every time that I play with

Andre or Rafael. I also would like to thank all the fans in the name

of ACLLA for their affection and support.”

Armored Saint will be playing at The Avalon in Santa Clara, CA on Saturday, October 16th! The guys had planned on only playing one show this year but wanted to bring the Saint up to the bay area before the year was through.

Joey Vera adds; “We know we said that our Los Angeles show in May was going to be our only show this year, but some things changed with John Bush’s availability so we decided to play a show for our Bay Area brothers and sisters. Come on out!”

THE ATLAS MOTH: Digital Covers EP Announced + New Track Posted; Fall Tour Nears

August 25th, 2010
by EvilG

Candlelight Records will release a special digital-only covers EP from Chicago’s THE ATLAS MOTH on September 28. Titled The One Amongst the Weed Fields, it contains very special renditions of “California Dreamin’” (The Mamas & The Papas), “Fearless” (Pink Floyd), “Golden” (Failure), and “Five to One” (The Doors). Guitarist/vocalist Stavros’ explains, “we have been thinking about doing a covers EP for a while. Thirteen-hour drives with only a radio to entertain you eventually takes a toll. But every once in a while we’d hear a song pop up that would strike us as something we all wanted to make into a ‘Moth song. These are the few we came up with from a terribly long list, and we are pretty proud of the outcome. It was a great way to have some fun, produce something new, and do a little pre-production for our new album which we hope to record later this year.”

Stereogum today premiered a the track from the EP, in the form of “Golden” by Failure. Check it out here: http://stereogum.com/484642/the-atlas-moth-golden-failure-cover-stereogum-premiere/franchises/haunting-the-chapel/

A limited number of download cards will be available for purchase during the band’s upcoming tour with friends Nachtmystium, Zoroaster, and Dark Castle, a special treat for fans planning to come out to the show. The tour, sponsored by Stereogum, is set to kick off September 9 and will make twenty stops before ending in Chicago on October 2. The band will perform selections from their current album, A Glorified Piece of Blue Sky, voted one of 2009’s best albums by Decibel Magazine.

THE ATLAS MOTH has been touring consistently since the release of A Glorified Piece of Blue Sky last fall. The five-piece was a “buzz band” at the South-By-Southwest Festival earlier this year where they made six showcase appearances. Brooklyn Vegan notes, “the juxtaposition of vocalist/guitarist Stavros’s high and low pitched screams against David’s soaring and spot-on clean vocals sounds great against the wall of slight synths and crunchy guitars. I already can’t wait to see them again.” Noisecreeep adds, “their feedback-drenched space jams spiral off into rapturous psychedelia as often as they dredge up the dirtiest dixie-sludge. This is a band to watch, no doubt about it.”

Formed in early 2007, THE ATLAS MOTH has carefully perfected their bone-shaking heaviness. An awesome metal hybrid, the quintet unites sludge, doom, psychedelia and more into a musical adventure few bands can deliver. “This is heavy music for heavy thinkers,” says Stavros. A Glorified Piece of Blue Sky is the band’s full length debut. It follows 2008’s highly regarded EP, Pray for Tide. Punknews says, THE ATLAS MOTH “gives me shivers… a band to watch.” Spinner.com notes, “THE ATLAS MOTH’s combination of bluesy, psychedelia, and metal makes for a pretty awesomely grim sonic blend.” The band has performed alongside Pentagram, Saviours, Intronaut, Wolves in the Throne Room, Coalesce, and Harvey Milk, among others.

by EvilG

Rhode Island-based THE EMPIRE SHALL FALL, featuring former Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse David Leach, are currently donating all proceeds from the sale of their latest T-shirt by Matt Yezuita to the Gulf Oil Disaster. Said bassist Nick Sollecito: “We wanted to help make a difference, even if it’s a very small difference. We decided to donate 100% of the proceeds of this shirt to Gulf Coast Wildlife Rescue (gcwr.org), a small organization in Texas, along the Gulf Coast. The devastation will take years to clean up. Hopefully, the money we raise can help out a few animals. This is something we consider to be very important, so if there was ever a time to buy a TESF shirt, now would be that time.”

To place your order, visit: http://anglesideside.bigcartel.com/product/oil-spill-relief-t-shirt-tesf. Orders can be placed until Sunday, August 29 at midnight.   THE EMPIRE SHALL FALL recently announced October 12 as the North American release date for Awaken, the band’s full-length debut. Recorded in 2009, Awaken was originally available for physical purchase via direct band merchandise outlets. Through the new cooperation with Restricted Records, in cooperation with Angle Side Side, the album will now be accessible via proper retail outlets throughout North America.

Formed in 2008, THE EMPIRE SHALL FALL‘s eclectic sound is rooted in metal/hardcore with the band citing luminaries At The Gates, Meshuggah and Edge of Sanity as major inspiration. The band, featuring Leach and Sollecito alongside guitarists Jake Davenport and De Lisle and drummer Jeff Pitts, also draw heavily from their combined interests in jazz, punk, and experimental music. The band’s lyrics are fueled by political outrage; a passion that forms the backbone of the band and sets them apart from their peers.

Something Wicked is definitely an Earthride album; all the elements are there. You’ve got the Clutch inspired waves of orange amplified riffage, the deep, grooving counterpoints of the rhythm section, and of course Sherman’s over-the-top vocal deliveries, which mix equal parts Lee Dorrian and Lemmy.
