The classic german metal band Helloween have issued an update regarding their upcoming studio album and following tour:
“As many of you thought while reading the last news, the band named it´s new studio effort: 7 Sinners. It is not 100% clear who the remaining two sinners are, be sure that you´ll find out the day of the release!
At the moment, the guys are busy laying down the last tracks for the album, before long time producer Charlie Bauerfeind goes on with the mix. The guys are very enthusiastic about their “new baby”, stating there is a great Helloween album to come!”

Legendary metal group Iron Maiden have a new song and a new single, ‘Satellite 15…The Final Frontier,’.
With its heavy rock attack guitar riffs and a sci-fi music video (produced by Darkside Animation Films), it’s clear that the group is going in a new direction (much of it since the last albums). And for a metal band that’s achieved pretty much everything possible in this world, it makes perfect sense that Iron Maiden would begin pursuing the kinds of new galactic frontiers most other bands can only dream of.
‘Satellite 15…The Final Frontier’ is the first single off of Iron Maiden’s new album, ‘The Final Frontier,’ due to hit stores Aug. 16 (Aug. 17 in US). The album will also be released in a limited edition, collectors ‘Mission Edition’ CD case, and will come with extra features like the director’s cut of the ‘Frontier’ music video, interviews with the band, photos, wallpaper and the exclusive game ‘Mission II: Rescue & Revenge.’

Candlelight Records today confirms September 28 as the North American release date for In the Absence of Light, the second full-length album from black metallers ABIGAIL WILLIAMS. Recorded at Conquistador Studios in Cleveland, Ohio, the album was mixed by Peter Tagtgren (Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Celtic Frost) and features artwork by Farron Kerzner (Nachtmystium, Lightning Swords of Death).
In The Absence of Light is true to the rules of black metal. The vocals are harsh and shrill, sounding like the product of a lacerated larynx. Guitars buzz, rip and roar alongside articulate, rapid licks and blazing solos. Drums slam and crash like exploding mortar shells, whether battering with blast beats, double-bass rolls or syncopated snare hits. And there is just the right amount of haunting keyboard washes, a noted difference to the band’s previous album In The Shadow of a Thousand Suns. Vocalist/guitarist Sorceron notes, “There is a lot less keyboards on the new songs. I like keyboards, but before we started this record we decided to get rid of a lot of them because we wanted to do something different.”
The album presents new band members, guitarist Ian Jekelis and drummer Ken Bedene. Joining Sorceron after ABIGAIL WILLIAMS’ final tour in support of In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns last fall, the trio quickly got to work writing material that would become In the Absence of Light. The album’s eight songs contain far more urgency then the band’s previous material; songs written exclusively by Sorceron.
“We let ourselves have much more room with writing this album, kind of a more open, free environment than any we have employed before,” reveals Sorceron. “We literally constructed the songs as we went. Ken would be in the drum room and Ian and I would be in the control room and we just played for hours. We would listen back and pick out what we thought was good and we put songs together. We recorded everything with much more ease and I think it has helped in capturing a very honest vibe.”
Invisible Oranges recently caught up with the former Pantera vocalist. Below is is awesome rant about the BP Oil Disaster. Read the complete interview here.
How is New Orleans doing now with the oil spill?
Anselmo: We ain’t seen the fuckin’ beginning of the repercussion. I think the tip is fuckin’ rearin’ its head, but how can it not? There’s fucking crude spilling out right as we speak here on this motherfuckin’ phone. What can I do about it? What can anybody really do about it? Go to the fuckin’ water and clean animals and birds? It’s not solving the fucking problem.
This right here, this knife in Mother Earth is [a] bleeding fucking wound in our planet, which in my book is God, by all rights. You got God stabbed in the fuckin’ heart. And it’s bleeding. We have not even begun to see the miserable ramifi-fucking-cations of this fucking particular disaster yet. Shit, hurricane season hasn’t really even moved in.
As a matter of fact, by the time the next year rolls around, everything on the Gulf Coast – not just New Orleans, but the entire… it’s not even a tri-state area; you lump Texas and everything into this fuckin’ thing, anything that can be affected by this Gulf – and you blow in fuckin’ oil all over the motherfuckin’ every standing structure… let a big hurricane roll through and blow oil all over every tree, house, car, fuckin’ animal, oh my god – and let it dry up for a fuckin’ week. Then flick a fuckin’ cigarette out. See what happens, with fuckin’ oil all over the place. This place will be torched faster than a motherfuckin’ box of matches, man, and gasoline.
OPETH TO RELEASEIN LIVE CONCERT AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL
PERFORMING “EVOLUTION XX: AN OPETH ANTHOLOGY”
“The remarkable Swedish group Opeth…[is] on a level where fantasy becomes art.” – The New York Times
New York, NY: As part of the ongoing celebration of their 20th anniversary, Sweden’s OPETH is releasing live footage and audio from the band’s recent performance at London’s famed Royal Albert Hall. In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, due out 9/21/10, is a fierce testament to Opeth’s continued success in the progressive metal community.
Twenty years and nine records into their legendary career, Opeth’s “progressively creative spirit” (ARTISTdirect) remains unwavering, propelling the band through the “Evolution XX: An Opeth Anthology” tour, which brought the Swedish titans to six of the world’s most unique venues, and now, with the release of In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, into the homes of their fans.
The performance at the Royal Albert Hall (recorded on the 5th of April, 2010) includes two sets, the first consisting of the band performing 2000’s now-classic, breakthrough epic, Blackwater Park in its entirety, and the second, a chronologically arranged selection of material from the rest of Opeth’s extensive catalogue, totaling almost three hours of music. It is, like the rest of Opeth’s greatest work, “purposefully warped in all the right places” (Decibel). The front cover artwork concept pays tribute to Deep Purple´s Concerto for Group and Orchestra, underlining the band’s longstanding love for their prog-rock roots.
Thinking back to the concert, frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt says “Opeth had a magical night playing the Royal Albert Hall. It was a dream come true, and now afterwards, it still feels like a dream. We got it all on film, and this, our third live recording and DVD might be my personal favorite. One couldn’t help to think of all the fantastic artists that played there over the years. Looking back at this night of celebration brings me fond memories of our 20th anniversary—this package is the delayed birthday present. Enjoy!”
The release will be available as three very special configurations:

Today, MORIBUND RECORDS announces the signing of HAERESIARCHS OF DIS. HAERESIARCHS OF DIS is a one-man black metal project currently residing in the woods of Lexington Hills, California. Formed by Cernunnos, the band produces underground black metal bearing avant-garde, ambient, and melodic elements. Imagery and lyrical content are derived from misanthropic and anti-Christian ideologies with undercurrents of Indo-European mythology. The band has three releases to date including the debut full -ength Overture , the Dis mini-CD of reissued older material – both on label Toadstool Enterprises – and the soon to be released second full-length Denuntiatus Cinis, set for release on October 12th through MORIBUND RECORDS
At once cacophonous and orchestral, dissonant and magisterial, raging one minute and reposed the next, amorphous yet firmly defined: HAERESIARCHS OF DIS’s Denuntiatis Cinis is an epic, envelope-pushing exploration of black metal aesthetics. The mysterious entity’s MORIBUND debut, Denuntiatis Cinis takes black metal down complex corridors, each turn more twisted than the next, challenging the listener’s perceptions of what “black metal” can comprise whilst ignoring the rulebook altogether. Forget “post-black metal” – remember HAERESIARCHS OF DIS.
The full track listing for HAERESIARCHS OF DIS’ Denuntiatus Cinis is as follows:

3) The Respite
4) Intent Canticle
