CALIFORNIA – San Francisco Bay Area gore titan, Autopsy, has posted a stream of the brand new track, “The Tomb Within”, on their recently launched mini-site at: http://www.peaceville.com/autopsy/. The new song is the title track for the band’s forthcoming EP, which is due out on October 5th on Peaceville Records.
Along with the song stream, the new mini-site also features audio samples of each of the EP’s four other gut-wrenching tracks, as well as an in studio video trailer for a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the forthcoming musical bloodbath. ‘The Tomb Within’ EP is the band’s first collection of newly recorded tracks in over a decade.
The highly anticipated, ‘The Tomb Within’, was recorded in mid-July 2010 at Fantasy Studios with Adam Munoz, and unites the original trio of Chris Reifert, Danny Coralles, and Eric Cutler, joined on bass by Joe Trevisano (ex-Abscess). Cover art is supplied by renowned fantasy/horror artist, Matt Cavotta.
The track list for ‘The Tomb Within’ is…
1. The Tomb Within
2. My Corpse Shall Rise
3. Seven Skulls
4. Human Genocide
5. Mutant Village
Autopsy decided to make an official comeback after working together on two songs for the special 20th anniversary edition of their debut album, Severed Survival, in late 2008. The band had originally decided to split before the release of their 4th album, Shitfun, in 1995.
Autopsy emerged in 1987, and had an almost immediate impact on the global underground heavy metal scene. Frontman Chris Reifert was already known due to his work as drummer with Florida’s highly respected extreme metal combo, Death, along with Chuck Schuldiner. Autopsy’s debut album, Severed Survival, was unleashed in 1989 on Peaceville Records, and the band went on to become true legends in the death metal scene, recording four studio albums in total, before splitting up in the mid 90’s.

In the third of nine installments, bassist/vocalist Grutle Kjellson and rhythm guitarist/songwriter Ivar Bjørnson of the progressive/psychedelic Norwegian black metal band ENSLAVED offer commentary on the songs that will appear on the band’s new album Axioma Ethica Odini, which is scheduled for release in Europe on September 27th and in North America on September 28th.
Grutle on “Waruun”:
“This was one of the songs that took the longest time to get into. It also turned out to be the biggest surprise and among the songs I enjoy the most on this album. This was among me and [keyboard player and clean vocalist] Herbrand’s biggest difficulties when figuring out what to sing over things, and one of the last we recorded. It became quite experimental on all layers, but at the same time weirdly catchy! The best of those two worlds, one might say! A killer song, in my maybe not too humble, opinion.”
Ivar on “Waruun”:
“This is one of the first songs written for the album. The way the songwriting process starts is that I go away somewhere with my mobile recording rig. This time I didn’t go far, but far enough out of Bergen [Norway] to start forgetting some of the mundane distractions that can block creativity (rock-blocking?). The title is a construction of mine, and people can put whatever they want into it; I know vocalists Grutle and Herbrand have made their own interpretations. It is one of our heaviest song openers and shows how focused ENSLAVED’s musical energy can be, contrasting the more floating, ‘spacey’ parts that follow the opening. This is one of the songs that really benefitted from our heavy focus on working out arrangements in the rehearsal room rather than in the pre-production studio. The dynamics vary a lot and ‘solving’ the song requires finding the transitions between these dynamics. To be able to do that requires working in a ‘real’ environment, i.e. rehearsal room. Studio work only reveals so much of the inner life of the song.”

QUIET RIOT BACK IN BUSINESS WITH NEW SINGER AND UPCOMING TOUR
After the tragic passing of co-founding Quiet Riot singer Kevin DuBrow in 2007, many figured that the band was over. But while going through the vaults of vintage video material for an upcoming documentary of the band’s history, the spark was reignited once more for drummer Frankie Banali to kick QR back in gear. The easy part was filling the guitar and bass slots – as former members Chuck Wright (bass) and Alex Grossi (guitar) promptly signed on. However, having to fill DuBrow’s large shoes was no small task.
A longtime fan of heavy metal, singer Mark Huff came to Banali’s attention while fronting a California-based Van Halen tribute band (that focused on the “Sammy Hagar era”). A true Cinderella story, Huff auditioned via a cattle call audition, promptly blew Banali away, and got the gig. After getting the blessing from DuBrow’s mother to carry on with Quiet Riot (and to celebrate her son’s music), the group was ready to rock once more.
Quiet Riot hit mega-success with their first-ever US release in 1983, the classic ‘Metal Health.’ Spawning two hit singles that have gone on to become synonymous with heavy metal – “Cum On Feel the Noize” and “Metal Health” – the ‘Metal Health’ album went on to become the first-ever metal US debut to hit the #1 spot on the Billboard album charts, and resulted in a solid year of sold-out arena shows and non-stop MTV video airplay. However, it was the DuBrow-Banali-Wright-Grossi line-up that proved to be DuBrow’s favorite touring line-up (and also, most stable).
Quiet Riot is currently firming up plans for a full U.S. tour – their first in three years. And with the aforementioned documentary on the horizon, and the band’s music being used in hit films (‘The Wrestler,’ ‘Tropic Thunder’), video games (‘Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80’s’), and even musicals (‘Rock of Ages’) – as well as QR being name-checked in songs by Weezer and Ben Folds – Quiet Riot remains a major force in heavy metal. And soon, you will get a chance to bang your head once more to Quiet Riot, at a concert venue near you!
(New York, NY) — POWERGLOVE are pleased to announce their participation in a short run of tour dates with power metal titans FIREWIND led by the young guitar sensation Gus G (OZZY OSBOURNE) and THEABSENCE. Dates are scattered through out the northeast and Canada. “We’re very excited to go out on this run. We’re all big fans of Firewind, and the blazing guitar work of Gus G. And with a powerful band like The Absence on board, this should be a diverse and fun lineup. It will be our first time on the road after the release of our new album Saturday Morning Apocalypse, and we have some new shit in store for you!”says drummer Bassil Silver.
November 4th – Volume 11 Raleigh, NC
November 5th – Jaxx West Springfield, VA
November 6th – The Gramercy New York, NY
November 7th – Les Foufounes Electriques Montreal, Quebec, CANADA
The band recently released the morphing album cover and video teaser surrounding their next record “Saturday Morning Apocalypse” which is due out September 28th, 2010 via eOne Music. Combining power metal style with nostalgic theme songs of popular 80’s and 90’s cartoon and television theme songs, the band has tapped into the minds of generation X and Y with their most interesting release to date.
“Saturday Morning Apocalypse came out brighter and darker, faster and slower than our previous releases,” says Silver. This is the band’s first record with eOne Music and this time they’re taking their songs in a new direction. The band had previously stuck to 8 bit Nintendo game theme songs. However, this new release is their take on Saturday morning cartoons and movies that anyone who’s grown up in the 80’s will immediately recognize. Silver concludes with, “No matter what we write, we know all the comments will be about how bizarre we look, how ridiculous this track list is, and the fact that we somehow got Tony Kakko to sing the Pokemon theme for us. We would tell you how clown-rapingly awesome it is, but you can decide that for yourself when the album comes out in September.”
A full track listing of their power metal renditions can be found below.
2. Gotta Catch Em All
3. The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest
4. This Is Halloween
7. Inspector Gadget
8. Heffalumps and Woozles (Winnie The Pooh)
9. The Simpsons (Feat. Tony Kakko)
10. The Flinstones 11. Gotta Catch Em All (Feat. Tony Kakko)
“We are POWERGLOVE and we are here to f*ck with your childhood!” proclaims the band at the beginning of their live shows. After finding success mining the brains of the A.D.D. driven video game generation with songs like “Tetris,” POWERGLOVE have set their sights on the inner child in all of us. To this end, the band has set its blasters from stun to kill; it’s target: the world! The band has recently completed two separate, successful, tours with HAMMERFALL and SONATAARTICA. Watch for them this summer as they continue to add dates for video game festivals and live performances.
POWERGLOVE is composed of four battle-hardened rockers out of Boston, MA: Alex Berkson, Bassil Silver, Chris Marchiel, and Nick Avila. This band shreds metal renditions of everything from old school 8- bit video game classics to contemporary blockbusters, all with a heavy metal attitude – and there’s nothing you can do to stop them!

Guitarist Henny Wolter has quit German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR because — in his words — “it just didn’t feel like a band anymore.” Wolter, who is also no longer a member of SINNER (led by PRIMAL FEAR bassist Mat Sinner), is focusing on his new band NITROGODS, also featuring ex-PRIMAL FEAR drummer Klaus Sperling and vocalist Oimel Larcher. The group’s self-titled debut album is expected in early 2011.
KISSIN’ DYNAMITE, ELVENKING and CIRCLE II CIRCLE will support PRIMAL FEAR on their upcoming European headlining tour, which is scheduled to kick off on September 18 in Warsaw, Poland.
PRIMAL FEAR recently released a new live DVD, “16.6 – All Over The World” (recorded in various locations between September and November 2009), and a live CD, aptly titled “Live In The USA”. Frontiers Records issued the two products separately and as a limited-edition combo on June 22 in the USA. The DVD is filled with an abundance of extra materials, such as an entire bootleg section with funny moments on the road, bootleg footage from various festival appearances and other concerts, all of PRIMAL FEAR’s most recent promotional videos, plus the making-of footage for “16.6” and a brand new interview section about the past, present and future of PRIMAL FEAR.

For diehard fans of traditional heavy metal, German outfit ATLANTEAN KODEX’s upcoming album The Golden Bough is one of the most anticipated releases of 2010. To see release via Italian metal label Cruz Del Sur Music this October, the powerful album boasts nine tracks of pure heavy metal packed with raging solos, plenty of melody but with a serious underlying heaviness, all fueled by soaring, triumphant vocals.
Since their inception in 2006, this tight German band has built a strong and devoted fanbase over a series of limited edition releases, as well as participation in some of the most important European metal festivals including Keep It True, Hammer of Doom, Up the Hammers and more.
Taking their next leap forward on The Golden Bough, the magic of ATLANTEAN KODEX’s heavy metal is more bold and apparent than ever, before, already being praised by Rock Hard Germany as, “Maybe one of the best metal albums from Germany ever” and MusikReviews as “One of the best albums by a German Metal Band ever… Album of the Year: 15/15.” With references to early Manowar, Hammerheart-era Bathory and Solstice, The Golden Bough should not leave any fan of epic heavy metal unmoved.
The Golden Bough Track Listing:
1. Fountain of Nepenthe
3. The White Goddess
4. Temple of Katholic Magick
5. Disciples of the Iron Crown
6. Vesperal Hymn
7. The Atlantean Kodex

Guitarist Gary Holt recently spoke to Metal-Rules.com about the new album, re-recording the classic "Bonded By Blood" album with the band’s current lineup for the "Let There Be Blood" release, cheering onstage for Kreator and Gary remembers his friend Toby Rage dubbed "The Original Headwalker" who tragically passed away recently. Be sure to catch Exodus on tour with Holy Grail, Malevolent Creation and Bonded By Blood when they hit a thrashzone near you.
