Nightfall - Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants
Greek Metal Gods NIGHTFALL have launched the first video clip for their upcoming new album Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants on their landing page. Click HERE to check out the video for the song “Ambassador Of Mass”!
NIGHTFALL singer Efthimis Karadimas comments the clip: “The story depicted is inspired by the Greco-Persian wars in the 5th century BC. The video is purely based on the ancient technique of Shadow Puppet Theatre evolved and widely used in different areas of the world eons ago. Every character, ship, map, etc you see in it has been built from scratch especially for that motion clip. The video has been directed by Achilleas Gatsopoulos, a prominent master of visual arts, based in the city of Berlin. I am sure you haven’t seen anything similar around!”
Comments director Achilleas Gatsopoulos: “After our initial talks and meetings with Efthimis, we decided to approach the video in a challenging and unconventional way. We chose to use shadow puppetry and push its boundaries through modern technology in order to create something really unique; something that could best convey the epic scale of our story. Considerable research ensued, and the storyline was constructed according to the structure and lyrics of the song, sprinkled with a touch of mythology, while staying true to the actual historical facts. The design and construction of the puppets were done in collaboration with fine artist Hara Kolaiti, referencing on the one hand the Ancient Greek vases’ depictions of greek warriors of the time, and on the other, the numerous detailed reliefs of Xerxes and his warriors in Persepolis. In total, more than thirty meticulously detailed puppets and backgrounds were created for the video. These were shot one by one and then composited into scenes digitally. The aim was to take Shadow Puppetry as a traditional medium, and explore its cinematic potential. Thus, scenes were created both in two dimensional space, as well as in three dimensional epic camera shots. The result is a truly original and unconventional music video that best complements Efthimis’ musical vision.”
The band claims Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants is the best NIGHTFALL album so far, raising expectations to the maximum. “We have worked hard and we’ve put lots energy and effort in the details of the production. The outcome is massive and believe can attract any metal fan’s attention.”
The powerful Athenian act is now running on an ingenious combustible engine made of Greek, American and German blend and is aiming high. Dare to join!
The album’s artwork has been created by Travis Smith (Opeth, Death, Nevermore, Katatonia a.o.). It is unique and beyond Mr. Smith’s typical patterns.
‘Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants’ was recorded in various places with Soundlodge (Germany) being the main studio. It has been produced by Efthimis Karadimas (‘Athenian Echoes’) and co produced by Jorg Uken (known from his work with God Dethroned, Dew Scented, and Sinister).

Cradle of Filth reveals artwork for 'Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa'
ENGLAND – Cradle of Filth, one of Britain’s most notorious and infamous names in heavy metal, has unveiled the album art for their forthcoming ninth studio album, Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa, which is due out on November 9th on Nuclear Blast Records. The artwork for the record frontman Dani Filth calls, “without doubt the fastest and most brutal album we’ve created to date,” comes courtesy of Natalie Shau.
“This album is Cradle at our most sinister and darkened fairytale,” continues Dani. “A gothic horror themed slay-ride of fervour and perversion; yet amidst the orchestral melodrama and lush, cinematic production, there sits stalwart a ravening beast of furious riffing, flesh ripping vocals and monstrous, unstoppable percussion.” The Grammy-nominated, Cradle Of Filth, has been a pioneer of extreme music since their 1994 debut, and has continued to evolve with each subsequent release. The band has continually refused to bow to convention, or conform to prevalent trends and fads, and has constantly sought to push the boundaries of their art. This rings true once more on Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa.
A loyal stalwart to the satanic horror ethos, Cradle Of Filth has again created a concept album, this time based on Adam’s first wife, the lascivious demoness Lilith. Throwing medieval nuns, Knights, Templars, Greek mythology, lashings of sex, occult lore, and violent bloodshed together into a creative milieu, Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa is a dark erotic nightmare set to Cradle Of Filth’s unique scope of supreme vampyric metal. Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa was recorded last month at Monkey Puzzle Studios near Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk, England. It is the follow-up to 2008’s Godspeed On The Devil’s Thunder.
Fans who sign up for the Cradle of Filth mailing list at: http://www.peaceville.com/cradleoffilth/mailinglist2.html will receive a free Mp3 download of a brand new track from the forthcoming record.
Whether through their wildly elaborate & theatrical live shows (which incorporate giant lumbering puppets, fire-breathing dancers, freaks and stilt-walkers), provocative merchandise (including the now legendary ‘Jesus Is A C***’ t-shirt), breathtaking artwork, or the weighty subject matter of their albums (their latest told the story of a French Lord who fought alongside Joan Of Arc before embarking on a horrific killing spree), this is a band whose uncompromising stance has been rewarded with legions of fans around the world, making them the most successful British heavy metal band since Iron Maiden.

APOCALYPTICA'S NEW ALBUM 7TH SYMPHONY
The seventh studio album 7th Symphony from rock Finnish cello-quartet Apocalyptica just debuted. Apocalyptica’s nationwide tour supporting the release kicks off tonight at the Nokia Theatre in New York City, and will wrap up September 13th at the Roseland Theatre in Portland. The band will play an eclectic mix of favorites from past albums as well as brand new tracks including the explosive “End of Me”, which has been steadily climbing the Billboard Active Rock Chart’s Top 20. Cosmos Gaming calls Apocalyptica’s latest “Hands-down one of the best albums of the year” and the Examiner.com raves, “Apocalyptica has an energy and stage presence that makes it hard to turn away from.”
7th Symphony was produced by Joe Barresi (Coheed and Cambria, Queens of the Stone Age, Bad Religion). The album features eight instrumentals plus four headbangers with guest vocals, including the first single and video “End Of Me” with lead vocals by Bush’s Gavin Rossdale. Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Lacey (Flyleaf), Joe Duplantier (Gojira) and Brent Smith (Shinedown) also make cameos on the album. In addition, producer Howard Benson (Three Days Grace, Creed, My Chemical Romance) returns for production duties on two tracks.
The conservatory-trained musicians of Apocalyptica (three of whom are graduates of the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Helsinki) started playing Metallica covers in 1993 and in 1996 they released their critically acclaimed debut Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos. But it was 2007’s Worlds Collide that broke the band into an international phenomenon. The disc sold over 300k albums in the US, one million digital tracks and featured numerous guest stars including Three Days Grace singer Adam Gontier, whose resounding vocals on “I Don’t Care” blasted Apocalyptica through the stratosphere, and to #1 on the Billboard rock chart.

Chicago based multinational extreme-metal act AGAINST THE PLAGUES begin working on new songs for as yet untitled second album.
Commented co founder Varyen Chylinski:
“I am very excited to announce that we are currently working with the songs for new album! We have 6 songs almost finished and another 2 in progress. Next month we will start recording them as a preproduction material and as soon as we have them ready we will expose some of them on our website. We are working with new music in our practice room in Chicago and as I see after several rehearsals , new songs are much more faster and extreme than the previous album “Decoding the Mainframe”. New AGAINST THE PLAGUES material has a lot of absolutely amazing riffs and “inhuman” blast beats which is completely new chapter for the band. All of our hard dying fans who were waiting for new music from our camp so long – will be delighted, I guarantee that! Also we decided to invite few special guests to make this material even more unique. It will be big surprise for all of You!
We will give you more updates very soon. I would like to thank you all for great support and fantastic feedback we received after releasing our last album. I can promise – it’s going to be the best material we ever done!”

Band Will Join Slayer and Megadeth on Jagermeister Fall Music Tour
While Preparing for First New Album with Belladonna in 21 Years
LOS ANGELES, CA (Monday, August 23, 2010) — Following seven historic shows as part of “The Big Four” European festival dates with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth, Anthrax will join Slayer and Megadeth on the Jagermeister Fall Music Tour set to kick off September 24 at Superpages in Dallas, TX. The 20-date concert trek will mark the first U.S. tour Anthrax has done since vocalist Joey Belladonna rejoined the band earlier this year, and the first time the three bands have shared an American stage since the classic 1991 “Clash of the Titans” tour. Tickets are on sale now at www.ticketmaster.com (http://knoxvilletickets.com/ for the Knoxville date).
For this tour, Anthrax has teamed up with Artist Arena to offer fans the ultimate Anthrax VIP Package, which consists of a Meet & Greet pass to meet Anthrax, an autographed commemorative poster, a commemorative tour laminate, and an exclusive VIP-only Anthrax T-shirt. For more details, and to get your Anthrax VIP Package, log onto http://bit.ly/anthraxvip – Usermane: anthrax – Password: tickets
Media showered praise on the Belladonna-fronted Anthrax for the European “Big Four” festivals: “It’s been almost two decades since [Belladonna] initially parted with Anthrax, but he proved to be in raw, primal and fine form,” one European journalist wrote, while another noted, “Anthrax made their presence known with a raucous roar…you would never have known that they weren’t the headliners.”
“It’s great to see so many people getting excited about us being together again,” said Belladonna. “Even with just one day of rehearsal before the show in Poland, we played really well and really jelled together on stage. We had a great time in Europe, and are looking forward to seeing our U.S. fans this fall.”
“Everything has been going so great, just like we hoped it would,” said guitarist Scott Ian. “We wanted Joey to say yes to coming back to the band, we hoped all would go well, and everything couldn’t be going any better.”
For the Jagermeister Fall Music Tour, fans can expect an Anthrax set packed with some of their all-time favorite songs – “Caught In The Mosh,” “AntiSocial, “Madhouse,” and “Indians,” are just a few that the band knows HAVE to be played.
“There are a lot of songs to fit into 50-minutes,” laughed drummer Charlie Benante, “so we’ll probably change up the set list a little from night to night, and we might debut a new song from our upcoming album as well.”
Since returning from the European tour, the members of Anthrax have begun writing and rehearsing for their new album which is expected out in early 2011.
“We’ve got an unusual luxury of hindsight,” Ian explained. “We finished an album more than a year ago, we’ve lived with those 12 songs since then, and we can look back on them and see what we really love and what we can make even better, especially with Joey back in the fold. On these U.S. dates, we’ll have a portable rig with us so we can work on the songs during any down time, and get everything to the point where we’ll be ready to get into the studio as soon as possible.”
Added Benante, “There are five or six songs from a year ago that we don’t want to change, we love them the way they are, other than having Joey making them his own with his vocals. Then there’s another five or six that we may want to rework, and then there are a bunch of other tunes that are still in the early stages, that we want to finish.”
With worldwide sales in excess of 10-million, Anthrax is about to celebrate its 29th year as a band. Over its career, Anthrax has received multiple Gold and Platinum albums, multiple Grammy nominations, and a host of other accolades from the press, industry and fans. Belladonna, an essential part of Anthrax’s lineup from 1985 to 1992, sang on some of the band’s most popular albums including Spreading the Disease, Among the Living and Persistence of Time. He had reunited with original members of Anthrax for the 2005 – 2007 “Among the Living Tour,” but is now permanently back in the fold.
“We’re super excited that Slayer and Megadeth asked us to be part of this tour,” said Ian, “especially coming off of the European shows. To tour with both of them again in the U.S. is an unbelievable high, and we can’t wait. This is why we love being in a band: it’s not work, it’s ‘let’s go out and have some fun with our friends.'”
