The remastered edition of "Witchcraft" by Stormwitch to be released in October 2010
Stormwitch are next to Helloween the biggest German heavy metal legend ever to walk this planet. Their career started in the 80’s with a string of successful albums and lasted until 1994, when the group disbanded due to personal differences. Fortunately, Stormwitch returned in 2002 with a new line-up and a new album, “Dance with the Witches”. Two years later the band released “Witchcraft” – one of their finest works yet. Metal Mind Productions presents the exclusive reissue of “Witchcraft” which brings the ultimate version of a true heavy metal masterpiece…
The group was originally formed in 1979 in Heidenheim, Baden Württemberg, Germany by vocalist Andy Mück and guitarists Harald Spencer (aka Lee Tarot) and Stefan Kaufmann (Steve Merchant). Bassist Ronny “Pearson” Gleisberg and drummer Peter “Lancer” Langer joined the band in 1983. The band officially debuted in 1984 on the “1. Rock-Fabrik Festival ‘84” live compilation album (where they played along Restless, Tyran’s Pace and Cacumen). In the same year Stormwitch managed to release their stellar debut LP – “Walpurgis Night” – which became an instant success and gathered great opinions from both critics and fans. The following years brought more great albums, all considered today as metal classics: “Tales of Terror” (1985), “Stronger Than Heaven” (1986), “The Beauty and the Beast” (1987) and “Eye of the Storm” (1989). The 1990’s brought some significant line-up changes, as both original guitarists decided to quit the band. The group carried on with new musicians and recorded two more LPs – “War of the Wizards” (1992) and “Shogun” (1994) – until finally disbanding by the end of 1994.
Even though Stormwitch officially ceased to exist, their name was still present on the metal scene. Cover versions of their songs were included on albums by White Skull (“Tears by the Firelight” from “The Beauty and the Beast”) and Hammerfall (“Ravenlord” from “Stronger Than Heaven”), and a compilation album of Stormwitch’s best songs from their first three LPs was released in 1998, bearing the title “Priest of Evil”. In 2002 Andy Mück decided to reform the band after he wrote the song “Dance with the Witches” for a faithful fan. Stormwitch officially returned to the metal world on August 5th with the release of their eighth album which was named after the track that brought the group back to life – “Dance with the Witches”. In November 2004 Stormwitch released their ninth LP entitled “Witchcraft”. The album delivered twelve amazing tracks capturing all the best elements of heavy metal, power metal and even hard rock. “Witchcraft” offered a lot of diversity, introducing some faster, almost speed-metal tracks like “Puppets in a Play” and “At the Break of this Day”, straight-forward rockers such as “Frankenstein’s Brothers” and “Kiss of Death”, and even an impressive power metal ballad – “Sleeping Beauty”. Two songs on the album (“Moonfleet” and “Fallen From God”) featured additional female vocals, which only strengthened the gloomy, disturbing atmosphere of the LP. The mood was also built by the lyrics, which mixed gothic horror stories with sinister love tales and even some religious themes (like in the opener “Sinister Child” which portrays the birth of Jesus) and, of course – witches! This is an absolute must-have for all fans of true, powerful heavy metal!
The new digipak edition of “Witchcraft” includes a bonus track and is limited to 2000 copies. Remastered using tube technology, digitally edited on a golden disc. The release date is set up for 11th October in Europe and 7th December in USA (via MVD).

BLIND GUARDIAN, Germany’s favorite sons from Krefeld, have attained the highest first-week sales numbers in the United States in the history of their existence. With sales of over 4,500 units of their tenth studio album, At The Edge Of Time, BLIND GUARDIAN secured the #1 position on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and also debuted at #108 on the Billboard Top 200 chart! In Canada, At The Edge Of Time debuted at #18 on the Top Hard Music Albums chart and #108 on the Top 200 chart according to Nielsen Canadian Soundscan.
Checking in from Germany, lead singer & lyricist Hansi Kürsch, shares his elation over the Billboard chart news:
“I am really happy to see that At the Edge Of Time has created such a massive impact amongst our loyal legions of Northern American bards and minstrels. Thanks for your great support. Now join in our singing and dance with us on this glorious day. Still, this is just a beginning: Mission is not completed. 🙂 Can´t wait to sing the new songs with you when we are coming by. Dates will soon be revealed!”
In a recent interview with Ystejam.com, guitarist Marcus Siepen had the following to say about At the Edge of Time:
“For me [it] is the ultimate BLIND GUARDAN album because it represents everything that the band has been about. It has lots of early BLIND GUARDIAN stuff with our roots in the speed & thrash metal; it has the more progressive styles that came up in the middle of the ‘90s; it has the very epic stuff that are present in the later albums; and it has some of this stuff that we never did before, like the oriental elements. In my opinion, it’s the best album we have done so far; it perfectly captures everything that the band is about. If someone doesn’t know BLIND GUARDIANyet and wants to check us out, this would be the album that I would recommend.”
BLIND GUARDIAN’s 2006 studio album, A Twist In The Myth, debuted at #21 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums chart and #288 on Billboard’s Top Albums chart.
At The Edge Of Time features album artwork created by Colombian artist Felipe Machado Franco (Iced Earth, At Vance, Axel Rudi Pell).

Scythia Announce "Exiled Across Canada" Tour Dates
Vancouver progressive folk metal band Scythia have announced their “Exiled Across Canada” tour dates set to kick off in Victoria, BC on Sept 24th. The six man & woman contingent will be echoing their thundering tunes over the following six weeks across Canada.
Blending epic storytelling with modern progressive metal to create an interesting dynamic that includes an oboe of death and classical violin. Scythia’s ancient and medieval influenced melodies will bring the past back to the present as they ready to brandish their swords and prepare for tour in support of their upcoming release “…Of War” produced by Shaun Thingvold who has engineered on projects with SYL, Fear Factory, Darkest Hour and many more.
“Folk music is definitely more ambient, pure, and beautiful. Metal is intense, raunchy, and driving. The use of both in songs, combined with dynamic contouring, has the ability to take the listener on the kind of journey that rises to mountain peaks and descends into valleys, in a sonic sort of way,” comments vocalist / guitarist Dave Khan.
Formed in late 2008, Scythia is not your older brother’s metal band. Taking its name from vocalist/guitarist Dave Khan’s infatuation with a painting of Nordic/Russian warriors riding bears while brandishing swords, Scythia not only “gives the painting musical significance,” but it is also “the name of an ancient empire spanning from the Caucasus through Russia, and even into eastern Scandinavia.

The year 2010 marks the Twentieth Anniversary of Cathedral and in order to commemorate the occasion the band will perform a one-off show on December 3rd 2010 at the O2 Academy in Islington, North London.
For one night only Cathedral will be performing two sets, including the entirety of their landmark debut album and Doom Metal classic ‘Forest of Equilibrium’ where Lee Dorrian and Garry Jennings will be joined by the recording line up Mark “Griff” Griffiths, Adam Lehan and Mike Smail.
This will be followed by a second set of songs performed by the current line up of Lee Dorian, Garry Jennings, Brian Dixon & Leo Smee.
Vocalist Lee Dorrian elaborates: “Cathedral has come along way since those dirge-ridden smoke-filled, cheap lager and sweat infested early rehearsals back in 1990. To be brutally honest, back then we never imagined that we would have continued on a twenty year journey and still be here to tell the tale”.
“A lot of bands that have been around this long tend to shy away from their roots, in favour of more ‘accessible’ material that they wrote in their “maturing” stages. Well, despite the fact that we may have expanded on our sound and style since those early days, we are certainly not embarrassed by our origins, in fact the opposite is true. To commemorate (Commiserate?) this twenty year marathon, we thought it would be a cool idea to regroup the line up of our first studio album for a special one-off show, and perform it in it’s entirety. Fortunately, everyone from those days agreed. This will mark the beginning of the evening, which will be followed by a set of material ‘post-Forest’ bringing us right up to date with our latest album, ‘The Guessing Game’. We are excited about this event and look forward to seeing you there”.

KAMELOT Confirm AMARANTHE Vocalist For Upcoming North American Tour
KAMELOT have confirmed that Swedish vocalist Elize Ryd from AMARANTHE will be joining the band on the North American Tour. She will also be part of the VIP meet and greets. Ryd toured with Kamelot on their recent Summer Pandemonium Tour and the band’s European tour earlier this spring.
Amaranthe recently signed a deal with Spinefarm/Universal. They are set to being recording their debut album in October, spending two months until December, with Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, MERCENARY, NIGHTRAGE) of Hansen Studio in Ribe, Denmark. The as-of-yet untitled album is scheduled for a spring 2011 release.
Commented guitarist Olof Mörck: “Needless to say, we are very much looking forward to getting all the tracks on tape! There has been quite a stir and hype around Amaranthe lately, and it is funny to think that everything that people have heard so far are demos recorded in a bedroom – it is going to be fantastic to able to show people the true potential of our music, with a killer sound! This whole production is going to be HUGE and spending two months with Jacob Hansen recording the album will ensure that we will have a production second to none! Jacob Hansen is definitely one of the top names in today’s metal recording scene, and when we found out that he was available on quite short notice we where very enthused! Keep your eyes peeled when this baby is unleashed in early spring 2011!”

In a recent interview with Ystejam.com, BLIND GUARDIAN guitarist Marcus Siepen elaborated on the band’s use of a live orchestra on their new album, At The Edge Of Time, which was released in North America on August 24th:
“The big difference on this album is that for the first time in our career, we worked with a real orchestra. Any orchestration on any previous album has always been done with keyboards. This time we had ninety people playing, which was a giant step for us and added a big element to the album’s sound; a programmed orchestra can sound very good, but nothing beats the real thing. This did bring up some problems for us because when we compose the stuff, we are still using keyboards to arrange for strings, horns, or whatever. When you work with a real orchestra, you can’t go up to them with some programmed stuff and say, ‘This is what we would like.’ Obviously you have to give them written music and none of us can really do that – turn keyboards into a multi-arrangement for a real orchestra. We had to rely on the help of people who could write down our ideas for a real orchestra so they could play it. Everything worked perfectly in the end, in my opinion. It’s such a huge a difference from the keyboards. One of the goals that we wanted to reach with this album was to give it a natural sound. Nothing sounds more natural than an orchestra. The drums, too, were taken under consideration, because a lot of bands use samples on drums to enhance their sound, but you hear on this album is a naturally recorded drum set with no samples. That was really important for us to have that type of sound on this album and we are really happy with it.”
