Swedish black metal overlords WATAIN, who unleashed their Lawless Darkness full-length earlier this summer, will shower their blasphemy upon North American soil later this fall. Presented by Decibel Magazine and sponsored in part by Fangoria, Metal Injection and Killer Tours, the unholy trek will commence on November 6 at Mr. Smalls in Pittsburgh and bludgeon its way through over two dozen cities before coming to close on December 4 at the Opera House in Toronto. Support will come from Goatwhore and Black Anvil.
Lawless Darkness was released via Season Of Mist on June 7. Recorded at Necromorbus Studio (Deathspell Omega, Funeral Mist, Ondskapt et al) in Alvik, Sweden with cover art by Zbigniew M. Bielak, the record continues to reap critical accolades from press nationwide and abroad. In addition to scoring cover spots in some of metal’s most esteemed publications including Decibel, Terrorizer, and Subterranea (Metal Hammer’s extreme metal supplement), “Reaping Death,” the latest single off Lawless Darkness, was certified gold in Sweden for sales in excess of 10,000 copies.

Chicago, IL- August 28, 2010 – Metal giants Zak Stevens, Jon Olivia and Chris Caffery appear together on a track called “Claws,” off the upcoming “Serenity” CD by Rockstar Superstar Project. “Serenity,” which is the first ever music CD recommended by Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors, has taken nearly two years to complete and is almost here, just in time to kick off National Recovery Month 2010.

“Our goal with the CD is to send a strong message that living a life without drugs and alcohol is the only way to achieve your dreams,” said Rock Star. “Since we know there are kids who would rather listen to music than read a book, we are using music to reach them in the language they understand.”
Joining the fight via guest appearances on the CD are music icons including Cherie Currie (RUNAWAYS), Stevie Rachelle, (TUFF), George Lynch (DOKKEN, LYNCH MOB), Chris Caffery (SAVATAGE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA), Carlos Cavazo (QUIET RIOT, RATT), Mark Slaughter (SLAUGHTER), Zak Stevens (SAVATAGE, CIRCLE II CIRCLE), Jon Oliva (SAVATAGE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA), Bruce Kulick (KISS, UNION), Howard Leese (HEART), Bob Kulick (MEAT LOAF), Lorraine Lewis (ex-FEMME FATALE, ROKTOPUSS), David Schultz (GOO GOO DOLLS, BERLIN), Veronica Freeman (BENEDICTUM), Ted Poley (DANGER DANGER), Todd La Torre (CRIMSON GLORY),and of course Rock Star aka Marc Kancler (Guitars) and Super Star aka Kris Kancler (Drums) and many more.

YORKSHIRE, UK – 2010 marks the 20th anniversary of the UK doom titan, My Dying Bride. To commemorate two decades of doom and gloom, the band embarked upon a project to re-work familiar melodies and themes from My Dying Bride’s extensive catalogue into long, flowing symphonic compositions, including new vocals and passages from vocalist, Aaron Stainthorpe. These arrangements have been brought to life, in cooperation with keyboard maestro Johnny Maudling (of Bal Sagoth fame), and will be released as Evinta this fall on Peaceville Records.
“Evinta, a project almost 15 years in the making, an idea that has sat smouldering and never really had a reason to burn alive until now,” explains guitarist, Andrew Craighan. “Nine albums worth of darkness recreated anew to mark 20 years of MDB. Music arranged to the soundscapes of sorrows past. Finally the 20th anniversary allows us to release this music in a form it has been desperately, woefully waiting for. Enjoy the darkness.”
Evinta will be available as both a two-disc and special three-disc set, each disc its own sprawling classical work spanning a large period of My Dying Bride’s album material. The three-disc set will also be accompanied by a specially limited 72 page hardback book, featuring rare images and photographs from the band’s personal archive from over the years.
To coincide with this 20 year celebration, My Dying Bride will also re-release a vinyl version of one of the band’s most respected early works, Turn Loose the Swans, which will be limited to 2000 numbered copies, and features the original vinyl cover artwork design and gatefold sleeve.
My Dying Bride has been the leading light of doom metal since their debut album, As the Flower Withers, was released on Peaceville Records back in 1992. Influenced by acts such as Celtic Frost and Candlemass, the band’s heavy atmospherics have carved a huge worldwide following over the years and they remain at the pinnacle of the genre.
One of metal’s most intriguing, ominous and immensely talented figures, the mighty Devin Townsend, has been holed up undergoing intense rehearsals as he prepares to embark on a headlining tour for the first time in his solo career. This will be a special evening exploring a 15 year musical journey with Townsend performing songs spanning his entire vast catalog. This tour kicks off on Oct. 8th and either see below or visit www.myspace.com/devintownsenddtb to view the tour itinerary.
Progressive Metal act TesseracT, who are one of the most talked about bands among musicians and tech-heads, thanks to the quintet’s time signatures and musical complexity, will be supporting Devin on all shows. Periphery will be main support on the Springfield, VA, and West Chester, PA dates.
Devin Townsend states: “So it looks like I’ll be seeing some of you on the East Coast as well and I’m very excited! The year has been very cool in terms of getting back out and touring my stuff. The reception overall has been really warm, and those who ‘enjoy my current direction’ seem to be very into it. This American run is just a sign-off for the year while I continue making these two new records. I have a feeling the future holds a lot of touring, so if I don’t see you on this run, I hope to see you in the future (keep in mind that bands have little influence over the towns they play, so it’s nothing personal if we miss yours).
“We’re touring with a cool band named Tesseract, and my band and I have been working hard to learn songs from as many parts of the solo catalog as we can to make it worth your time. We’re in shape and we sound great, so we appreciate you coming and spending a few bucks to get into the show in times like these. Feel free to check out any music online, I don’t frown on downloading, but it’s great if you come out after hearing something you like.
“I’m doing some VIP appearances as well and I’ve got some cool things planned for that. I am stoked to talk with you and see where you’re at. All in all, I love to play, and I think a ripping time is in the cards for these shows. No politics or religion, lets rock!”

(New York, NY) — The unstoppable POWERGLOVE have released the morphing album cover and video teaser surrounding their next record “Saturday Morning Apocalypse” which is due out September 28th, 2010. Combining power metal style with nostalgic theme songs of popular 1980’s cartoon theme songs, the band has tapped into the minds of generation X and Y with their most interesting release to date.
“Saturday Morning Apocalypse came out brighter and darker, faster and slower than our previous releases,” says drummer Bassil Silver. This is the band’s first record with eOne Music and this time they’re taking their songs in a new direction. The band had previously stuck to 8 bit Nintendo game theme songs. However, this new release is their take on Saturday morning cartoons and movies that anyone who’s grown up in the 80’s will immediately recognize. Silver concludes with, “No matter what we write, we know all the comments will be about how bizarre we look, how ridiculous this track list is, and the fact that we somehow got Tony Kakko to sing the Pokemon theme for us. We would tell you how clown-rapingly awesome it is, but you can decide that for yourself when the album comes out in September.”
A full track listing of their power metal renditions of 80’s cartoon themes can be found below.
2. Gotta Catch Em All
3. The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest
4. This Is Halloween
7. Inspector Gadget
8. Heffalumps and Woozles (Winnie The Pooh)
9. The Simpsons (Feat. Tony Kakko)
10. The Flinstones
11. Gotta Catch Em All (Feat. Tony Kakko)
“We are POWERGLOVE and we are here to f*ck with your childhood!” proclaims the band at the beginning of their live shows. After finding success mining the brains of the A.D.D. driven video game generation with songs like “Tetris,” POWERGLOVE have set their sights on the inner child in all of us. To this end, the band has set its blasters from stun to kill; it’s target: the world! The band has recently completed two separate, successful, tours with HAMMERFALL and SONATAARTICA. Watch for them this summer as they continue to add dates for video game festivals and live performances.
POWERGLOVE is composed of four battle-hardened rockers out of Boston, MA: Alex Berkson, Bassil Silver-Hajo, Chris Marchiel, and Nick Avila. This band shreds metal renditions of everything from old school 8- bit video game classics to contemporary blockbusters, all with a heavy metal attitude – and there’s nothing you can do to stop them!

International music critics and rock gourmets agree: King’s X is among the most unusual acts in the history of rock music. Their technical skills are above reproach, and their creativity has impressed fans and media alike. Next to Rush, there is currently no other rock trio capable of producing such a dense and at the same time transparent sound. The much anticipated double CD/DVD set, Live Love in London, showcases prime examples of King’s X’s incredible live show of classic groove rock featuring great melodies with vocal harmonies, driving rhythms and tough guitars. The album is set for an Oct. 26th release through InsideOut Music and will be available as a deluxe DVD+2CD edition in a special embossed package, as well as a 2CD set. A standard DVD-only version will also be available exclusively through CMDistro.com.
Live Love in Londonis the first official DVD release by a band renowned for just such a transcendent rock show! The King’s X trio of Ty Tabor (guitars, vocals), Dug Pinnick (bass, vocals) and Jerry Gaskill (drums, vocals) have spanned continents and decades together, honing their craft, welcoming their fans in to experience inspired performances that come from their hearts.
Live Love in London was shot in January of 2009 at the Electric Ballroom in London, UK, because, as Tabor states, “London was the first place that accepted King’s X. It has always been my favorite place to play.” Pinnick recalls, “We were touring the US, playing for very small crowds, then we went to London; it was the Marquee and it was sold out!” Gaskill agrees, “London was the first place to make me feel like we might actually be a valid band.”
The band are also extremely excited to embark on a co-headlining run with metal legends Accept, which kicks off on Sept. 23rd.
