Rotting Corpse Records recording artists, Cyanosis, have announced the departure of bassist Kirk “Tony” Kangas. Replacing him is Andy Scheeler (ex-Silent Scream/Master Fury/Atomic #9).
Commented guitarist Scott Zwieg: “Like most bands that are about to record an album, losing a bass player and seeking a replacement is never a pleasant experience. However, in our case, it couldn’t have happened at a better time. Andy was looking to play, so after some E-mail exchanges we brought him out and after rehearsing one song with him, we knew he was a perfect fit.”
Vocalist/guitarist Al Andrews added: “Andy is an old friend, and long-time supporter of Cyanosis. He has given us shows with Monstrosity and Macabre, and radio interviews when he was program director of WIPZ Radio, at UW Parkside in Kenosha. I wish nothing but the best for Kirk in his future endeavors, but Andy is a monster on bass, and precisely what was needed to make Perpetuation of Eradication as sick and pummeling as possible.”
Cyanosis is currently in pre-production for their Rotting Corpse Records debut album, Perpetuation of Eradication. Artwork for the release can be viewed below.
Tentative song titles for the album include: “Maimed (Beyond Recognition)”, “Exsanguinate”, “Farewell to the Flesh”, “Pleasure in Torture”, “Glutton for Punishment”, “Reduced to Pulp”, “Skin Suit”, “Disinterred”, and a re-make of the Accidental Suicide classic, “Morbid Indulgence”.
The band has also announced that it will be performing at Midwest Heshfest II on September 4th in Milwaukee, WI in support of the new album’s release.
Polish prog metallers VOTUM recently confirmed their appearances at this year’s edition of the Metal Hammer Festival in Poland alongside Katatonia, Opeth, Pain Of Salvation, Riverside and headliners Korn (with one band still to be announced). The event will take place on August 27 at Spodek Hall in Katowice.
VOTUM formed in Warsaw in 2003. The band will unleash their second full-length, Metafiction, in the US on August 3 via Armoury Records. At once dark, somber and beautiful, Metafiction was recorded at the famed Izabelin Studio in Poland and is a seven-track concept album that focuses as much on the music as it does the lyrics and visual art surrounding it. VOTUM’s concern is not of the particular style of music they play but rather the atmosphere pouring from within. For fans of Opeth, Porcupine Tree and Anathema.
“…Metafiction is a progressive musical puzzle. A puzzle to a psychotic search. A mindgame; look for the pieces, connect them together and write the ending of the story.” – Power Of Prog Blog

FATAL SMILE is searching for a drummer in the Stockholm area that´s got what it takes and who´s 110% dedicated to Rock´n Roll – ready to tour the world! The band has made the following statement:
“Due to Zteff´s personal situation he is not able to dedicate his life to the craziness of a touring band anymore. He has never missed a beat or a gig and will be greatly missed by all in Fatal camp!
So, now we´re looking for a new member of this mayhem we call our band! These are not easy boots to fill: The guy we´re looking for is a hungry, ambitious and crazy hard-hitter with the attitude and presence of a Fatal Smile, who enjoys spending his time on the road, in a bar and behind the drums – our drums!”
The one who helps find this monster will be honored with a finder’s fee: his first interview as a Fatal Smile!
Please send a video, photo and a web/MySpace link & info about yourself to: firstname.lastname@example.org

Jonny Greatrex from Sundaymercury.net is reporting:
OZZY OSBOURNE will snub a host of Hollywood superstars as he searches for an actor to play him in a movie about his life.
The film will chart the former BLACK SABBATH singer’s early life, including his heavy booze sessions and the tough Aston upbringing which led to him doing time in prison.
It has been rumoured that A-listers Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jack Black have been considered for the role, with Depp a hot favourite.
But family man Ozzy has turned his back on Tinseltown’s finest. Instead, he wants a real-life Brummie to take the role, preferably a street kid from the back alleys of the city.
And he says he may even launch an X-Factor style open audition to give youngsters from his hometown the chance to achieve his level of superstardom.
“I’d like to get a Birmingham guy to play the young lad in it because Americans can’t do a good Brummie accent,” he told the Sunday Mercury before taking to the stage at Birmingham Town Hall last night.
“I don’t want a Johnny Depp or someone from the Hobbit films. I want someone who knows Birmingham.
“I’m from Birmingham, and it would be good to get someone from Birmingham to play me.

Members of the Big Four, including Dave Mustaine (MEGADETH), Lars Ulrich (METALLICA), Scott Ian (ANTHRAX) and Kerry King (SLAYER), recorded a special video tribute to the late, great heavy metal singer RONNIE JAMES DIO (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) from the Sonisphere festival in Sofia, Bulgaria on June 22nd.
The video tribute was shown as part of the June 22nd (not so live and not complete set-lists were shows in all theaters BTW) satellite broadcast of the Big Four concert from Sofia to movie theaters around the world.
MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn has recorded audio and video of an acoustic cover of BLACK SABBATH’s “Die Young” song from the classic “Heaven and Hell” album for free download in tribute to the late Debbie Abono, who sadly passed away on the same day as legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio. In a statement made at the beginning of the video (which was recorded the day after Debbie’s passing and which can be viewed at this location), Robb says, “I don’t know why I recorded this song, it doesn’t really have relevance to Debbie or Dio, but I was sad and depressed and it was the only thing that made sense in the world.”
There are no plans to officially release Flynn’s version of “Die Young”, but an MP3 version of the track is available for free download at the MACHINE HEAD web site, www.machinehead1.com.
Debbie Abono, a well-respected and much-loved manager and promotional machine behind some of San Francisco Bay Area’s strongest metal bands (POSSESSED, FORBIDDEN, EXODUS, VIO-LENCE, SKINLAB), passed away on May 16 at approximately 9:59 a.m. PST after a battle with cancer. She was 80 years old.
According to David Konow, author of the “Bang Your Head: The Rise And Fall Of Heavy Metal”, Debbie Abono was in her mid-fifties when she began to manage a band named POSSESSED. Abono started taking her daughters to MOTÖRHEAD shows, where the members of POSSESSED first asked her to manage the band. “There’s nothing to it,” they told her. “All you gotta do is get us shows.” Abono agreed and even allowed them to practice at her house.
POSSESSED’s association with Debbie Abono was not a “first” for both sides: Debra Abono worked with LaLonde and Becerra’s “Blizzard” while they were sophomores in high school even — before they guys learned to drive. Abono would then become the band’s first manager, and POSSESSED were Abono’s first official managed band. Abono had no previous connection to heavy metal music other than as a concert designated driver for her daughters, one of whom was a girlfriend of guitarist Larry LaLonde. Due to generation gap, Abono also had limited awareness of the sometimes blasphemous themes of heavy metal, and was allegedly offended upon reading the lyric sheet of “Seven Churches”. Nevertheless, she agreed to manage and represent POSSESSED as long as bassist/vocalist Jeff Becerra and LaLonde finished high school commitments. Although the group’s relationship amongst themselves and their first manager would reach points of discord and eventual termination, Abono would go on to manage additional bands in the Bay Area metal scene like EXODUS, VIO-LENCE and FORBIDDEN EVIL (pre-FORBIDDEN), as well as death metal bands like Chicago’s BROKEN HOPE and Florida’s CYNIC and OBITUARY.
In a May 17 statement regarding Debbie Abono’s passing, Flynn said:
“Yesterday was a very sad day for metal. I am devastated at the passing of Debbie Abono and words aren’t coming very clear for me right now. Debbie was like a second mom to me, and having never lost a family member yet, this is very difficult. Debbie managed VIO-LENCE [Flynn’s pre-MACHINE HEAD band], and toured with us in a van as manager, tour manager, mom, friend, and facilitator. Phil [Demmel; current MACHINE HEAD and former VIO-LENCE guitarist] and I were her roommates at crummy Motel 6’s across America. Thinking back on it now, touring with a bunch of snot-nosed thrash metal-ers for two months at a time in a van, playing crummy clubs, isn’t the usual course most 55-year-old ladies take in their lives, but she was no ordinary 55-year-old lady. She was fiery, feisty, charming, funny, and could look a person over in about two seconds and find something to joke about / roast them about should they wanted to test her.
She was one of the biggest forces behind the thrash and early-death-metal movements than I think most people will ever realize.
I dated her daughter Gina, and I lived at her house in Pinole on and off in my late teens, and even after Gina and I broke up, she gave me an incredible amount of belief and advice once MACHINE HEAD started.
My wife Genevra and I used to go out to dinner with her fairly regularly, especially before kids, and she was there the next day after my boys were born. She always came to our parties.
She was so proud of what we accomplished. Most importantly, she believed in me, even right up until the end.
The last time we spoke, she told me how much she loved me, and that ‘my money is on Robb Flynn.’
HELL, MI, USA — A Michigan man believes he’s found his savior at the breakfast table.
Forest Rhal was eating breakfast this Thursday morning at a local diner when he spotted his savior’s face on his last piece of toast. After studying the toast, Forest says he and friends also see his redeemers holy visage and moles. The shoulder-length dark hair, famous moustache and moles looked all too familiar to Forest.
Rhal, an aspiring novelist, says he isn’t planning on selling the toast, and hopes that the image will help “renew the hope and metal faith” of those who see it.
“I know there’s a lot of people who believe there’s some reason for it being there,” said Rahl. “I just don’t know, but I could never eat it even though I imagine that it would taste like eternity wrapped in a Rickenbacker soaked in alcohol.”
“It came out just exactly like that. I didn’t do anything special,” Forest said. “The Lem works in mysterious ways, but I don’t think there’s any magic to it. But it is a reminder that Lemmy is with you every day of your life.”
Not wanting to eat the toast, Forest preserved it in an airtight plastic container. It’s been on his mantle since and miraculously has yet to show any sign of going bad! He’s showed it to many friends, some who believe there’s something wondrous and magical about the image, and some who don’t. The toast has become a popular topic of conversation among friends at his favorite diner.

LoudTrax.com spot to the Metal God, Rob Halford, yesterday about performing at this year’s HEAVY MTL festival in Montreal. Here is what Rob had to say regarding what fans can expect:
“Well they can expect the Halford band to be roaring that’s for sure. It will be a wonderful time for the Halford band to return to Montreal. Montreal is great, hot bed of heavy metal madness! The fans have this great reputation for being so intense and hard core, and having such passion and love for their metal.
So the Halford band’s gonna come back to Montreal and tear it up and have a great time. We’ll play a lot of different songs from our back catalog and some other places as well. We’ll be playing about an hour, and run through as many songs as we can and give everybody a great time. Some cool artists are appearing so it will be fun for us as well. My friend Alice Cooper, the guys from Korn, Dave from Megadeth, they’re all good friends of mine. Slayer, my god it’s going to be a great event! All of these different kinds of music will be pouring out and I’m sure everyone’s going to have a brilliant time.”

HOLLYWOOD, CA (June 25, 2010) – Lynch Mob is getting ready to embark on a summer tour in support of their current release “Smoke and Mirrors” on Frontiers Records. The band line-up for this tour consists of George Lynch (shred master), Oni Logan (vox), Michael Devin (bassologist) and Brian Tichy (time-keeper).
After seventeen long years singer Oni Logan and guitar wizard George Lynch found their way back together and again show their amazing abilities in some killer new Hard Rock songs.” I would say this new record “Smoke and Mirrors”, is the record we should have put out as a follow up to “Wicked Sensation”…better late than never I guess…”, says Lynch presenting the new record.
Lynch Mob was formed by George Lynch, one of the few genuine guitar heroes of substance to emerge from the Los Angeles scene, after DOKKEN split up in 1989. The band’s first album” Wicked Sensation” went on to sell over 500,000 units in the US and featured the talents of singer
Oni Logan, Anthony Esposito on bass and another former DOKKEN member Mick Brown on drums. After a tour in support of Queensryche, Logan opted out, with Robert Mason taking his place on the follow up self titled release. However Lynch and Brown eventually returned to Dokken releasing 2 studio albums until he left again in late 1997 putting together a several new incarnations of Lynch Mob and exploring new sounds with different projects.
