Interviewed By EvilG
If there was ever a person I would say “I’m not worthy” to, it would be this man. I’m talking about one the most influential and STILL one of the best vocalists to grace the heavy metal scene. Despite my lack of worthiness, I was lucky enough to talk with Ronnie James Dio for thirty minutes about Dio, Rainbow, metal and his future plans. So without any more of my rambling and drooling, here you go my interview with the voice of heavy metal…Ronnie James Dio!!!!

Headbangers Open Air Vol 9
14-15 th July 2006
The worlds largest garden party (at least we were told so) was held for the ninth time in Brande-Hörnerkirchen, Germany. The two day festival (there was also a warm up party and afterparty) was nothing like the big commercial festivals which have thousands of fans and camping grounds where you get lost. Here we had an audience of maybe one thousand drinking beer in a farm’s backyard. The lineup was metal, simple as that. A few disappointing cancellations happened (Candlemass, October 31, Hobb’s Angel Of Death and Goat Horn) but still we headed over the seas to Deutchland.
The audience consisted of the elder fans of our beloved music and now want to just relax without any pressure of bigger fests. There you can meet people who’ve seen Exodus with Baloff, Slayer circa -85 etc. Cool. the area was like a paradise on earth, at least for a Metalist. The atmosphere, people and alcohol got me so charmed that I unfortunately missed many bands but some of them were seen so here we go

TAROT - Marco Hietala
Interview & live pictures by Luxi Lahtinen
Legendary Finnish Heavy Metal dinosaurs Tarot are currently busy with the recordings of their new, and as yet untitled 7th studio album that should see its release date sometime by the end of the year. Since the band’s previous album SUFFER OUR PLEASURES, which was released on Spinefarm Records in 2003, two noteworthy things have happened in the Tarot -camp. First off, after the S.O.P. album the band left Spinefarm Records and signed to a smaller, independent Finnish label King Foo Entertainment. Secondly, in early 2006, Tarot made an official announcement that they have added a new guy to their line-up for the 2nd vocals. This ‘old-new’ member is Tommi ‘Tuple’ Salminen who has actually had a strong involvement with the band since 1995 with his roles being both as a roadie and as backing vocalist in the band for more than 10 years.
We met Tarot’s always friendly vocalist and bassist Marco Hietala on a sunny evening in Tampere 25th of May 2006, just a few hours before the band’s gig at the University House that same night. We talked about the previously mentioned matters and about much more.

WARRANT: Joey Allen
Warrant – Back Again
It’s been some time since we’ve seen a release of new material from the 80’s hard rock band Warrant. Not since the band was signed to CMC International has there new original material, even though the covers albums was a cool idea it did not sell very well.
The band returns with 4/5 of it’s original line-up, missing lead singer and main songwriter Jani Lane who all know by now that he has had a hard enough time keeping his shit together. But as Jani has sunk to new lows, Joey Allen and the boys return with a new album ‘Born Again’ with ex-Black N Blue singer Jamie St. James leading the way. As the band readies a new tour in support the album, I had the chance to speak with Joey Allen about the new album and what lies ahead for the one-time platinum rockers.

The Greek black/occult metal scene has always had unique and original bands since the late 80′s when Rotting Christ and Varathron, and later Necromantia, rose from the world beyond. These three hellenic occult black metal bands carved their own marks into the metal underground in the 90′s when they put out legendary releases. For example: ONE STEP BEYOND by Varathron, the legendary Rotting Christ/Monumentum spilt Ep, and the split album of Varathron and Necromantia. However, Varathron has battled through these years by facing the ups and downs, but the band’s leader Stefan NecroAbyssious is still committed to Varathron. Here is the interview with Stefan telling about the new album and other interesting issues in the world of Varathron.
