Before the release of the 7th studio masterpiece AQUA, and the start of the new World Tour supporting the album, Edu Falaschi with ANGRA finished the Back To Life Tour 2009-2010 with a great performance on stage of Anime Friends Festival in São Paulo (Brazil).
This show became the biggest highlight of the final part of the tour. One of the most important rock/metal media in Brazil, “Whiplash!” Webzine highly appreciated the latest performance of Angra and Edu Falaschi on the festival.
Anime Friends Festival took place in Mart Center, São Paulo (Brazil) on the last week and it was dedicated to the famous Japanese art of Anime. It included shows of several Brazilian rock and metal bands and various events for anime fans. Angra played on Friday, 16th of July. The band presented the set-list of Back To Life Tour 2010 and, specially for this event, Pegasus Fantasy – a song from the soundtrack of anime series Knights of the Zodiac (Cavaleiros do Zodiaco) or Saint Seyia which is very popular in Brazil.
As Whiplash! Webzine reports, despite the diversity of people who attended the show (besides metal fans, for sure there were a lot of anime and manga’s fans) the band really rocked.
Edu Falaschi was very inspired and his performance that memorable night was incredible, as he sang both the old and the more recent classics of Angra. In particular, the reporter mentions such classical song as Silence and Distance performed with great feeling and vibration that excited and united the public. And the great interpretation of Lisbon made by Edu Falaschi, as well as his recent version of Nothing To Say where he got its highest notes were accepted with great enthusiasm of the audience. And, of course, the hits from the “nova era” of Angra like Rebirth, The Voice Commanding You, The Course Of Nature, Spread Your Fire and others.
“Thus, if you have had any doubt regarding Angra, you can forget it! – tells Whiplah! – The band made a brilliant show on the stage of Anime Friends with a lot of respect to the fans, fascinating everyone with its professional performance, real team-work and great frontmanship of Edu Falaschi. It was a perfect aperitif before the things that should happen soon, and those who have been to there, will never forget”.

OCEANO‘s Over The Limit Tour – Almost Famous contest came to a close earlier today and drew a major fan response that put the spotlight on some majorly talented and creative people all over the nation. As the band takes some time to go through the videos to determine the grand prize winner, there has already been one stand out video that’s received many positive reviews for combining OCEANO‘s brutality with sheer good humor and fan enthusiasm.
In this riotous video by YouTube user, MantisInMyPants702, he shows us how he “gets pumped” for OCEANO. Watch the video here:
“Familiar Taste of Poison” on last night’s episode of
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon
The band recently wrapped up a tour overseas, and will continue to tour in support of their self-titled debut album, which made a top 5 debut on SoundScan’s “Hard Music” chart upon its release. After an amazing performance at this year’s Rock on the Range, Halestorm was included in SPIN’s “Best Moments at Rock on the Range 2010,” where they noted, “If any band deserves a bigger stage (and an even bigger production) for an outing at ROTR next year, it’s these alt-rockers.”
Current single “Familiar Taste of Poison” impacted Active Rock radio earlier this month, and the band will be shooting the companion video shortly. After wrapping up their July headlining dates, Halestorm will take part in the Uproar Tour with Avenged Sevenfold and Disturbed.
Hot on the heels of the buzz caused by the launch of the release of ISSA’s debut album “Sign of Angels”, Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the digital only release of the single track “I’m Alive” on August 20th 2010.
The song was written especially for Issa by a dream team of Swedish songwriters from Örebro, including Tim Larsson, Johan Fransson, Tobias Lundgren (of Play Production, responsible of penning songs for the likes of Susan Boyle, Martin Stenmarck, Ashley Tisdale, Alcazar, Place Vendome, Saint Deamon, Primal Fear among others) , Ronny Milanowicz (the album producer and also drummer of Saint Deamon) and Joacim Cans (of Hammerfall).
Issa says “We had the best of times recording this song and it was actually the first track we recorded, the foundation for the rest of the album. It is a special song and to me it represents strength, independence and the courage to stand for yourself. Also I’m Alive makes you get that ”I can do anything” feeling, no matter what! It has the all elements of Rock ‘n Roll plus catchy melody-lines all wrapped up into one song – one listen and you’re hooked”.
The videoclip of “I’m Alive” can be watched on youtube now:
Watch out for ISSA debut album “Sign of Angels” to be released in Europe on September 24th and USA on October 12th 2010 on Frontiers Records.

Dream Theater’s JAMES LABRIE Unveils His New Static Impulse Solo Release; Announces Players and Release Info
Dream Theater’s JAMES LABRIE is easily one of the defining, elite and naturally talented vocalists the world has to offer and after selling over a million albums worldwide he further challenges himself with an aggressive and dynamic new solo effort. The much anticipated new full-length offering, Static Impulse, also marks LABRIE’s first solo effort in over five years and is sure to please his legion of diehard fans, as well as win over many new devotees in the process. Be sure to stay tuned to www.jameslabrie.com for new information.
Static Impulse also features the immensely talented longtime songwriting partner and keyboardist Matt Guillory. Another notable performance is Peter Wildoer from metal titans DARKANE on drums and screaming vocals. The group is rounded out by Marco Sfogli on guitars and Ray Riendeau on bass. Static Impulse is set for a September 28th release on InsideOut Music and was mixed and mastered by the renowned Jens Borgen (Opeth, Katatonia).
LABRIE states: “Hi everyone. The release of Static Impulse is one that the whole band is psyched about. This is modern Metal and as heavy and relevant as any other band out there going in a similar musical direction. There are riffs that will blow your head off and melodies both musically and vocally that are hypnotic. Get in the driver’s seat and let the ears bleed. Enjoy and see you out there with a tour to follow up and support this release.”
Guillory further comments: “One year and two months in the making and we’re finally done. I’m really pleased with the way this record came out. James sounds fantastic, as well as the rest of the guys. Without a doubt, it’s our heaviest record thus far yet at the same time, it’s also our most melodic. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
In addition to Dream Theater’s numerous studio and live releases, LABRIE has also appeared on releases by Fates Warning, Redemption, Trent Gardner’s Explorer’s Club, Leonardo The Absolute Man, Frameshift, Ayreon’s TheHuman Equation, as well as tribute albums to Rush, Emerson Lake & Palmer and Queen.
THERION bass player Nalley Påhlsson has issued the following message to fans:
“Hi Everyone out there!
First of all I want to thank all you fans who watched us in Mexico, Germany and Belgium this summer! THERION have a wonderful, fantastic and enthusiastic audience and I enjoyed every second of the concerts!
I´m also very glad, pleased and satisfied about my playing on the forthcoming album Sitra Ahra that will be released in [Europe on] September 2010. I really think this album will be well-received by all of you fans. It´s absolutely great!!
I´m writing here to announce that I am not gonna be part of the [European] tour that will start in October 2010. And the reasons are:
1. I´m alone with my two children and it´s not possible for me to be away for over two months.
2. I´m right now studying and I have to complete my education this autumn.
3. I have lately had a drinking-problem, and to be on tour is not the best thing for me right now.
I´m doing well at home, feeling good and everything is under control and that´s the way I´m gonna keep it!
If everything goes as planned, I´m gonna stay a member of THERION playing on the forthcoming albums and hopefully I will also be able to show up and play live in the future.
We´ll see what the future holds. (?)
I Salute You All!! Thanks!
The artwork to the new THERION album, Sitra Ahra, is posted on their homepage. Mixed by Lennart Östlund (Led Zeppelin, ABBA) at the legendary Polar Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, the new albumwill be available in North America on October 26th.

Ohio progressive black/death metallers LOCUSTA, who regrettably had to skip the entire first week of their US tour with Tennessee black/doom titans Argentinum Astrum due to vehicular trouble, today issued the following update from the road:
Said guitarist Dru Silver: “Unfortunately, due to van trouble we had to scrap the first week of our tour; we had the (dis)pleasure of breaking down in a dry county in Kentucky for three days, and with the added financial stress of automotive repairs it was next to impossible to go on as planned. Fortunately for us they were mostly regional dates, however we apologize to anyone that was planning on attending any of those shows on either band’s behalf. We shall return…
“In other news, we’ve been immensely enjoying the natural wonders that the western frontier has to offer– particularly Massacre Rocks/Craters of the moon in Idaho — and have been getting along great with the folks in Argentinum… practically peas in a pod. The reception has been good so far, and we can’t wait for what else this side of the country has to offer! Many thanks to those that have aided us in our journey so far.”

LOCUSTA released their debut full-length via Kentucky-based Pragmatic Records upon an unsuspecting underground earlier this year. The 10-track, self-titled offering was recorded/engineered by Brian Simakis at Capital City Studios, mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound Mastering and features strikingly stark cover art by local artist Stefan Hoza. Formed in the fall of 2006, the band take their name from a female chemist from Ancient Rome regarded as the first documented serial killer. It was rumored that in A.D. 54, she may have been hired by Agrippina The Younger to kill the Emperor Claudius, possibly with a poisoned dish of mushrooms.
