SHAI HULUD confirm headlining tour for February

January 27th, 2011
by EvilG

Shai Hulud is currently working on their follow up to 2008’s Misanthropy Pure, but in the mean time, have scheduled a short run of headlining dates along the east coast and Midwest. Along for the ride are Close Your Eyes, Monsters, I The Breather, and Counterparts.

Shai Hulud’s Matt Fox comments, “As always, we are grateful and humbled to be welcomed on any stage in any city. And it’s awesome to be part of this diverse tour package; massive thanks and respect to Close Your Eyes, I, The Breather, Monsters, and Counterparts for joining us and helping to make the tour refreshingly atypical. And what’s more, the tour is in 3D, just like The Creature From The Black Lagoon.”

“Misanthropy Pure sees Shai back at their heavy-riffing, temp-shifting best” 4/5 stars, Revolver Magazine

“Misanthropy is one giant, brain-rattling testament to the genre-blurring finesse of bands masterminds Matt Fox (guitar) and Matt Fletcher (bass), who fuse good, old-fashioned circle-pit hardcore with hair-whipping shred-metal, leaving us all the merrier for it.” 4/5 stars, Alternative Press

“The complex, string-hopping and mind-bending guitar runs played on “Venomspreader” and “Chorus Of The Dissimilar”, hell the entire album, walk that thin line between discombobulating and awe-inspiring.” Blabbermouth.net

GOREAPHOBIA: Legendary Philadelphia Death Metallers To Release New Full-length

January 27th, 2011
by EvilG

“The new tunes will once again contain 1000% occult metal nihilism!”

Legendary Philadelphia death metal squadron GOREAPHOBIA are currently putting the finishing touches on their long-anticipated new full-length fittingly titled Apocalyptic Necromancy. The follow-up to Mortal Repulsion, released in 2009, the 12-track long player was recorded, mixed and mastered by drummer Jim Roe and features new guitarist VJS (Kult ov Azazel, Crimson Moon, Demoncy, etc.).

Comments guitarist Alex Bouks of the band’s latest output: “All of us in the GOREAPHOBIA camp are real excited about finishing the new record. The new tunes will once again contain 1000% occult metal nihilism! The only way I can describe our new endeavor is that’s it’s very diverse and takes us back to the band’s roots. Jim has once again recorded and mixed the record at his home studio, Neanderthal. Apocalyptic Necromancy also marks the debut of our new guitar player VJS. There’s a highly positive and magical vibe for the band at the present time. For me, this record is a true progression from the song writing and production on Mortal Repulsion. We hope to have it out soon for all our long time and newer fans.”    GOREAPHOBIA will release Apocalyptic Necromancy later this year. Further details to be announced soon.

Advanced Capabilities, Intuitive Controls and Impressive List of Top Artists

Sure to Change the Way Music is Learned

“If I had this when I was learning to play guitar, it would have saved me years of frustration,” – John 5 (Rob Zombie/Marilyn Manson)

“Absolutely amazing,” – Al Schmitt (17x Grammy-winning engineer and 2x Latin Grammy winner- Ray Charles/Steely Dan)

“For years, musicians have been interpreting music incorrectly because up until now you couldn’t hear the isolated the tracks. Jammit solves the problem,” – Steve Lukather (Toto/G3)

HOLLYWOOD, CA (January 26, 2011) Learning music is difficult. Changing the way it is learned is even more challenging. Revolutionizing the industry is unheard of until now with the introduction of Jammit™, the first and only music software offering budding and veteran rock stars access to top industry artists’ original multi-track master recordings. The unveiling will be held on January 27th at 1 PM in Media Center room #2008 at the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco. Afterward, it will also be on display with live demos at booth #339.

Created by renowned music producer Scott Humphrey (Motley Crue, Rob Zombie, Ozzy Osbourne), Jammit™ gives music fans of all levels a way to learn their favorite artists’ tracks as they were meant to be played. Features include instrument isolation, synchronized notation and tablature combined with phrase looping and a slow speed function without changing pitch. Jammit™ is comprised of a proprietary technology developed by Humphrey and his team of engineers that will inevitably change the way music is learned in the home, music studios and education facilities across the world.

“Until now, there was always a level of uncertainty of how the original track was played,” said Humphrey. “Jammit™ offers musicians a unique combination of software features combined with isolated tracks from the original multi-track master recordings. Our ever expanding library features many of the top artists from the last four decades.”

A sampling of the vast Jammit™ library includes access to fan favorites such as Steve Vai, Rob Zombie, Nickelback, No Doubt, Marilyn Manson, Foreigner, Motley Crüe, Grateful Dead, Pantera and Alice Cooper among others.

Previously, people had to rely on traditional learning tactics like printed sheet music or mixed audio files, constantly pushing play, rewind and play again on their music player. With the

Available for the first time in North America as non-imports, SABATON’s first four full-length albums will be re-issued by Nuclear Blast on April 14th, 2011.  2006’s Attero Dominatus (Re-Armed) will include five bonus tracks, a demo track, plus two covers songs.

A Swedish power metal sextet that specializes in military history, SABATON bassist Pär Sundström shares the following memories of the Attero Dominatus recording sessions, the decision to cover Doro’s “Für Immer” (“For All Time”), the identity of Svenne Rubins, plus some additional information about the bonus tracks:

“For SABATON’s second release, we decided once again to work with Tommy Tägtgren. This time we came more prepared and knew more of the sound we were looking for.  We were in a rush since we were going on a big European tour right after the recordings – and it was really right after.  We left the studio with the final master only one hour before departing to the airport!  For the bonus material, we chose two of the cover tracks we had already done.  We were asked by our old friend (and booking agent for Europe) if we wanted to participate on his tribute album to Doro.  Of course we wanted to, and we wanted to do a song which nobody would expect us to do, so we made ‘Für Immer.’  Another cover song is the ‘Långa Bollar På Bengt.’  It’s a famous Swedish song by the band Svenne Rubins.  They are from our region in Sweden and we did this song actually before we had enough of our own songs.  Later it became requested by fans worldwide.”

The track listing for Attero Dominatus (Re-Armed) is as follows:

01  Attero Dominatus
02  Nuclear Attack
03  Rise Of Evil
04  In The Name Of God
05  We Burn
06  Angels Calling
07  Back In Control
08  Light In The Black
09  Metal Crüe

Bonus Tracks:

10  Für Immer (Doro Cover Song)
11  Långa Bollar På Bengt (Svenne Rubins Cover Song)
12  Metal Medley (Live In Falun 2008)
13  Nightchild
14  Primo Victoria (Demo Version)

RECKLESS LOVE – Vocalist Olli Herman

Reckless Love logo.jpg

Vocalist Olli Herman

Interview by Luxi Lahtinen

Transcription, translation and on/offstage pics by Terhi Pihlaja

 Olli 1.JPG

The year 2010 was a very successful year for these relatively sensational and hard rockin´ Finnish glamsters named Reckless Love. The band got their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album out on Universal Music (Finland), toured hard around the globe (this including for example a memorable one-off show at Loud Park in Tokyo, Japan on October 17th) – and were basically getting their name around for all the hard work the guys had put into the band over the years.

Before the year 2010 had come to its end, Reckless Love had a couple of shows to be done; one at Dante´s Highlight in Helsinki on December 17th – and culminating the band´s very well going year at Borderline Club in Pisa, Italy on 31st of December.

Metal-Rules.com caught up with Reckless Love´s vocalist Olli Herman briefly at the backstage of the venue before the show at Dante´s in Helsinki, inquiring sort of a roundup about the ongoing year from the smiling and polite band´s frontman, about his short stint in the Swedish sleaze/glam rock act Crashdïet – and about plans the Reckless Love camp have in their pockets for 2011, especially when it comes down to their follow-up album that they are going to record during the summer 2011.

To start things with, let´s place Olli straight against the corner by asking one serious question from him:

The legendary American death metal-band Morbid Angel are not only recognized as illuminaries within their own genre, but as an influential force for metal music as a whole. The troupe from Florida are one of the true veterans of metal of the more brutal kind: the band was formed in 1984 and debuted with “Altars of Madness” in 1989; an album that over the years has won many polls regarding the best albums of extreme metal. The bands core trio of basist/vocalist David Vincent (who left the band in 1996, but returned in 2004), guitarist Trey Azagthoth and drummer Pete Sandoval recorded three more albums with different rhytm guitarists – Blessed are the Sick, Covenant and Domination – and all three stayed true to the bands roots while still finding new musical paths to walk. The bands music is bludgeoningly energetic, raw and brutal, but also technical, exacting and intimidatingly consistent. A characteristic for the bands sound is David Vincents potent vocals; a combination of a brutal, classic growl and a cleaner, more potent voice. Trey Azagthoth and Pete Sandoval have won several magazine polls for best guitarist and drummer, and they are prominently featured in more “technical” magazines. So anyone who finds the whole genre a bit too hard on the ears, but finds it interesting to watch masters of their craft at work should give Morbid Angel a chance. And for those who like the genre this is a true feast waiting to happen. Be prepared for an onslaught of death metal-classics from the bands first four albums, and maybe even a new song or two. The gig at Sweden Rock Festival will be the bands only show in Sweden this summer
