Swedish melodic metal masters LION’S SHARE will perform 2-3 songs together with legendary drummer Vinny Appice (HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, DIO), during his Scandinavian Drum Day appearance on October 30 in Stockholm, Sweden.
LION’S SHARE was the main band during the Ronnie James Dio Tribute Concert that took place on the Sweden Rock Cruise on October 7, together with guests from IN FLAMES, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, KING DIAMOND, STRATOVARIUS, YNGWIE, AMON AMARTH etc.
A fan filmed clip of LION’S SHARE performing the song “Heaven & Hell” can be seen below:
LION’S SHARE‘s critically acclaimed “Dark Hours” album was released in March 2009 via Blistering Records. The follow-up to 2007’s “Emotional Coma” was mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (OPETH, SYMPHONY X, PARADISE LOST, AMON AMARTH) and features a guest appearance by SYMPHONY X guitarist Mike Romeo (guest solo on “Behind The Curtain”).

Unquestionably, one of the most talked about records to emerge in 2010 would be the triumphant comeback album "Blood of the Nations" from one of Germany’s most revered and longstanding heavy metal bands Accept. All of the usual buzz that accompanies the addition of a new frontman to a veteran band’s line-up was in full effect leading up to the release of the new album, only this time in an unusual turn of events, the reception for new Accept screamer Mark Tornillo was unanimously positive. Partnering with Nuclear Blast for the release of "Blood of the Nations" you can now catch the revitalized Accept in concert on their current world tour, a tour that has already taken Accept through many markets that haven’t felt the "Teutonic Terror" in decades or in some cases…ever. Guitarist and founding member Wolf Hoffman recently took time out of his very busy schedule to visit with Metal-Rules.com about life in Accept post-Udo, the aforementioned addition of new singer Mark Tornillo, working with famed producer Andy Sneap and much more. Make double triple sure you catch Accept live when they light up a stage near you.
DREAM THEATER vocalist JAMES LABRIE has issued the following update:
“It is very difficult for what I am about to say. The Static Impulse tour has been cancelled due to some unfortunate, unforeseen difficulties with securing work visas for a couple of the guys. It would be virtually impossible for us to have these visas processed on time to begin the tour let alone the rehearsals which were scheduled for the week prior to the first show.
I don’t know what to say other than we are all in shock and can only hope we can make this a reality at some point in the near future. I am really sorry to everyone who has gone out and purchased the meet and greets and show tickets. This totally sucks and I’m sure you’re all quite upset and have every right to be. I can only ask for your understanding and forgiveness and assure you that when we are in a position (hopefully in the near future ) to tour all of this will have been taken care of well in advance or it just won’t happen.”
The aforementioned North American tour had been scheduled to run November 26th to December 20th.
The multi-Platinum rock band Anthrax will release its first recording in 20 years with Joey Belladonna on vocals. “Live at the Sonisphere” (Megaforce Records), a limited-edition, 10-inch picture disc single, will feature the tracks “Medusa” and “Only,” both recorded this past June 22 in Sofia, Bulgaria, where Anthrax performed as part of The Big Four – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. “Live at the Sonisphere” will be released on “Black Friday,” November 26, exclusively through Metal Club, the North American indie record store consortium that works to connect the metal community with their local “brick and mortar” record stores. Go to http://www.mymetalclub.com/ to find a Metal Store record shop near you.
About the importance of independent record stores, Anthrax’s Charlie Benante said, “Indie stores are our only hope! People should cherish these wonderful treasures. Go, get lost in an indie record store, you may discovery a band or record that could blow your mind.”
“The Sonisphere concerts were some of the greatest shows for us,” added Belladonna, “and to have shared it with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth was just the best. It’s an experience none of us will ever forget, and we’re happy that our fans can share a little of that, and that Anthrax can be part of the Metal Club with this single.”
Anthrax just wrapped up the 20-date North American Jagermeister Fall Music Tour with Slayer and Megadeth, and will head to South America in November for a handful of dates. They will then return to the U.S. to finish recording a new album – their first with Belladonna on vocals since 1990’s “Persistence of Time” – set for a 2011 release.
With worldwide sales in excess of 10-million, Anthrax is about to celebrate its 30th year as a band. Over its career, Anthrax has received multiple Gold and Platinum albums, multiple Grammy nominations, and a host of other accolades from the press, industry and fans.
Guitarist/vocalist Ashmedi of Mesopotamian blackened thrash pioneers MELECHESH, has issued the final instalment of several track by track explanations of songs from their forthcoming album. The Epigenesis was released on October 1st in Europe and on October 26th in North America via Nuclear Blast Records.
10. A Greater Chain of Being
“This is an instrumental with traditional near eastern instruments. This music represents sufi music or ancient eastern classical music. This is not very common in mainstream society and in the middle east it is considered underground! It is profound and spiritual and meant for you to confront yourself while meditating or tripping. We have done such compositions in the past because we feel close to them. It is another dimension of MELECHESH. Many of our audiences asked us to compose more songs like this because they do not have access to such music. It was a treat to oblige, even though we would have done it in either case. Turn the lights off, computer off, phone off and go on a trip.”
11. The Epigenesis
“Some have called it one of our most accomplished songs performed with 12 string electric guitars. Some have called it a journey into the world of MELECHESH. Some called it MELECHESH in psychedelic mode. I call it another song, albeit self indulgent. We did not want to make a demo for this track, but rather develop it during several writing sessions often lasting into the morning hours. We wanted the listener to feel as if they were right there with us in the rehearsal room. The guitar leads were improvised and it gave an impromptu feel to the song. Leads were recorded late at night without an agenda. The hallways of the studio doubled as reverb outlets . Yes the reverbs in this song were ‘handmade’ by putting a microphone in the hallway to pick up the distant and echo sound of our guitars. Many things happened while recording this song that made it all work like a perfectly built puzzle. You can hear elaborate middle eastern melodies, heavy metal, thrash metal and psychedelic rock all in the same track. The longest track we have ever written. One verse in our lyrics refers to all our album titles. A very interesting concept for us. This is the testimony of The Epigenesis.”
MELECHESH have made the track “Grand Gathas Of Baal Sin” available for streaming on their Myspace page www.myspace.com/Melechesh. The track comes from the bands new album The Epigenesis.
The Epigenesis was recorded in the newly built first class Babajim Studios in Istanbul, Turkey. The album was mixed by Reuben de Lautour and mastered by Pieter Snapper. In an unprecedented move in metal, the band chose to record the album entirely in Istanbul in an attempt to capture the inspiring surroundings. Babajim Studios is run by some of the most elite sound engineers in Turkey.
The artwork (attached) to their long awaited 5th album was handled by renowned UK based occult artist John Coulthart, whom the band has previously collaborated with before.

Written by Kerry King, the track was recorded during the 2009 “World Painted Blood” sessions, and will be released on “Black Friday,” November 26, exclusively through Metal Club, the North American indie store consortium that works to connect the metal community with their local “brick and mortar” record stores.

Slayer’s Twenty-Ten has indeed, been quite a year for the band and its fans, beginning with Tom Araya’s successful neck surgery that now has him pain-free, the group’s fourth Grammy nomination, the band’s co-headline “American Carnage” tour with Megadeth, the historical summer series of “Big Four” Sonisphere European concerts, and the recently completed “Jagermeister Fall Music Tour” that Slayer co-headlined with Megadeth and featured Anthrax, the first time in two decades that those three band shared an American stage.
Plans for the band’s 2011 are currently being confirmed, but look for more touring, more music, and more S-L-A-A-A-Y-E-R!!!!!

Commented guitarist Dru Silver: “A big thanks to anyone that came out to see us on the west coast. Anyone who had a hand in putting the shows together, gave us food or shelter, or helped us in any way, your support was invaluable. A special thanks to those who took a chance on our band even though they may have been unfamiliar with us. We hope to see all of you again soon.”
In related news, the band has new merch for sale online. “We’re still mega broke from tour, so any support in that area would be especially awesome,” laughs Silver. Check out the goods here: http://ww.frozendirt.org.
LOCUSTA released their debut full-length via Kentucky-based Pragmatic Records upon an unsuspecting underground earlier this year. The 10-track, self-titled offering was recorded/engineered by Brian Simakis at Capital City Studios, mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound Mastering and features strikingly stark cover art by local artist Stefan Hoza. Formed in the fall of 2006, LOCUSTA take their name from a female chemist from Ancient Rome regarded as the first documented serial killer. It was rumored that in A.D. 54, she may have been hired by Agrippina The Younger to kill the Emperor Claudius, possibly with a poisoned dish of mushrooms. Currently comprised of vocalist Brad Deerhake, guitarists Peter Hughes (Night Soil) and Dru Silver, bassist Scott Hyatt and drummer Simon Tracy, the band’s painstaking DIY sensibility has found them sharing stages with the likes of Coliseum, Skeletonwitch, Finntroll, Demiricous, The Gates of Slumber, Thou and local Columbus metal veterans Deadsea.
The day many thought would never come is finally upon us. Your lords and masters the one and only GWAR will be performing live…(well, taped they may have to censor some stuff out before the masses can view what the band has in store for them) tonight on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. GWAR has made numerous TV appearances throughout their 25 plus year history, but this is the first time the band will be appearing on national late night television. First FOX news, now NBC, what next…?
When asked what he thought about performing on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, bellicose bass player Beefcake the Mighty grunted the following:
“As disappointed as we are that we must reschedule our attack on St. Louis, we are simply tickled shitless that we have been invited to perform on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon! One can only assume that our shared insatiable lust for sex and drugs and rock & roll prompted the impish Saturday Night Live alumnus to request we attend his court! Regardless of the reason, we embrace this opportunity to enlist the millions of Late Night viewers into GWAR’s legions of blood-loyal slaves! How fortunate for you all!”
Guitar player Balsac the Jaws of Death also chimed in:
“I feel like Hester Prynne on prom night! I am absolutely giddy to be performing for the crowned queen of late night, her highness, Jimmy Fallon”
In other GWAR news…

PRIMAL FEAR vocalist RALF SCHEEPERS is working on his first solo album. An update from Primal Fear states:
“Today, two fantastic lead guitar solos from none other than Victor Smolski (RAGE) arrived in the recording studio for Ralf’s solo album – thx Victor, killer job!
Achim Koehler has already started to mix the tracks at his Indiscreet Audio Studios in Stuttgart, Germany – more updates on the progress of the music – soon!
Don’t forget, Primal Fear Spain Tour – mid-November – check out the dates!”
Other artists to appear on Scheepers solo release include “Metal” Mike Chlasciak (ROB HALFORD, SABASTIAN BACH), Tim “Ripper” Owens (HAIL!, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, BEYOND FEAR, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), Sander Gommans (AFTER FOREVER/HDK), and Snowy Shaw (DREAM EVIL, THERION, KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE, NOTRE DAME.
About the style of the solo effort, Primal Fear and SINNER bassist Mat Sinner – who is playing bass on the entire record and producing – told BraveWords.com recently: “In part it’s very metal. Very metal. So it will not be Ralf’s ballad album. There were some ballads where Ralf was showing a different kind of music, his talent in music, because he’s playing all the instruments on one song, for example. So you hear him playing guitar, keyboards, so it’s very interesting. But overall I will say it’s a very tough metal album.”
