HEAVENWOOD – ‘Goddess Presiding Over Solitude’ / Another New Song Streaming Online / New session drummer announced

January 25th, 2011
by EvilG

After “ Morning Glory Clouds (In Manus Tuas Domine) “, ” Goddess Presiding Over Solitude “, is the new song from Portuguese Metallers  HEAVENWOOD, which is available for streaming on the band’s Myspace Page Player. The track comes off the group’s fourth album, ” Abyss Masterpiece “, which will be released worldwide via Listenable Records on March the 14th, 2011.

Concerning ‘ Goddess Presiding Over Solitude ‘, HEAVENWOOD’s lead guitarist and melodic singer Ricardo Dias said, ” ‘ Goddess Presiding Over Solitude ‘ contains more heavier and pompous sounding stuff than ever done before by HEAVENWOOD. This song grabs the listener by the throat with some of the most intense riffs of the album and is built in emotional intensity as the lyric concept is inspired on a poem adapted to English from our very first Portuguese female poet D. Leonor also known as Marquesa de Alorna. “

Meanwhile, HEAVENWOOD have announced the addition of drummer Marcelo Aires ( OBLIQUE RAIN ) to the group’s ranks as new session drummer which is considered by the band ‘ as a very technical and competent young musician ‘.

“ Abyss Masterpiece “ is now available for pre-order (for the special price of € 10,00) at Listenable Records website at this location.

Crashdïet’s debut “Rest in Sleaze” (2005) put the New Wave of Sleaze on the Swedish media-map. Some time later tragedy struck when vocalist Dave Lepard committed suicide. And his replacement Olliver Twisted turned out to be wrong for the band and exited following the second album “The Unattractive Revolution” (2007). However, Crashdïet refused to give up. They found sensational front man Simon Cruz and released last year’s “Generation Wild” – a knock-out comeback and a big success on the band’s home turf. Crashdïet will now return to SRF with renewed vigor, as one of Sweden’s hottest bands once more.

VALDUR: California Blackened Death Legion To Play Two Special Shows

January 25th, 2011
by EvilG

Mammoth Lakes, California blackened death horde VALDUR, who released their  Raven God Amongst Us full-length upon unsuspecting masses this past summer and are already working on new tunes, will bring their infernal rumblings to the live arena for two very special shows. The first will happen this coming Friday at The Blvd. in Boyle Heights, California. The second will be an appearance on the Oakland Black/Death Fest at the Metro Operhouse on Saturday March 12th. The band will be joined by headliners Dispirit, Necrite and Mutilation Rites among others. Check out both tour posters HERE.

Commented drummer Sxuperion on the live shows and upcoming new tunes: “We always look forward to the live event, as we very much appreciate and respect the energy and effort that is required to provide VALDUR’s music immediately! Otherwise, VALDUR has basically kept our determination focused upon the writing of many new songs that will see themselves appear on a new full-length release. We are buried in ten to 20 feet of snow in town which is very conducive to writing and creating. The new songs are faster and more intense than anything that VALDUR has released thus far. This new full-length will be finished and out when we say so.”

Considered by many to be one of Poland’s most extreme musical exports, HATE has been brutalizing listeners with their distinct brand of death metal since the genre’s glory days of the 1990’s. Eventually incorporating elements of black, industrial and ambience into their already intricate and relentless style, HATE quickly became known as one of metal’s great innovators. Keeping that tradition alive, the band recently entered Hertz Studio in Bialystok to record their newest masterpiece, Erebos. Completed in only five weeks’ time, Erebos promises to be the strongest HATE album thus far. Ferocious, challenging, complex, varied, innovative, and extremely well-produced, Erebos is HATE in full-swing! Erebos is set to be released in North America on February 22nd, 2011. Until then prepare to HATE and “Taste my Blood From a Thousand Cuts!”

ATF Sinner – Guitars, Synthesizer, Vocals

Hexen – Drums

Destroyer – Guitars

Mortifier – Bass

The American version of Erebos album will contain 4 bonus tracks. Two of them are dark ambient re-mixes of HATE songs made by a French artist named Melek-tha, known for his collaboaration with a German band Secrets Of The Moon. Other bonuses are industrial-ambient compositions by a Polish composer Michał Staczkun, whose ideas also appeared in other songs on the band’s new album.

“Erebos is Hate’s seventh album and now our favorite. Syncopate, super-charged, sinister – modern death metal just doesn’t get much better than this. If you’re looking for some professional-grade groove with your DM venom, this is a fucking good start to your year.”

“One of the most consistent death metal acts in a massive scene, steadily managing to improve themselves over the course of seven albums. Like Behemoth, these Polish extreme metallers play a similar style of blackened death metal. Hate continue to crank it up a notch each release and the 10 track “Erebos” continues to show that these guys are not messing around when it comes to producing quality death metal.” – Metal Asylum

“That Hate have matured is not in contention, because they’ve here produced an album that can survive a number of listens without losing the listener’s attention.” – From the Dust Returned

BARN BURNER returns to Mountain City Studios to record new album

January 25th, 2011
by EvilG

Montreal, QC natives, Barn Burner, are getting ready to head to the studio to record their follow up to Bangers, their criticially acclaimed Metal Blade Records debut. The band has been touring and working on new tunes for upwards of two years now, and are hungry to lay down the new tracks.

Vocalist/guitarist Kevin Keegan has offered up the following update: “We have been itching to get back into the studio and record what we have been working on for 2 years now. The new tunes are fiercer but still catchy enough to show to your dad. Excited to work with Adrian Popovich at Mountain City again and drink all of his shitty coffee. Basically, this new record will just give us more excuses to drink beer and play shows.”

Have no doubts Barn Burner will do just that – drink beer and play shows! Keep an eye out for tour dates later this year. Get a glimpse of what the band is like live in their video for Half Past Haggard HERE <> . The band has one show coming up on January 27th at Off The Hook <> , located on 1021 St. Catherine W in Montreal. The show is at 8pm – entrance is FREE and beer is FREE!

Here’s what critics (and comedian Brian Posehn) had to say about their previous album, Bangers:

“Anyone listening to Barn Burner? I hear elements of Fu Manchu, C.O.C., Maiden and Thin Lizzy. Great hard rock with big hooks.” comedian and actor, Brian Posehn

“the band is electrifying, and whether you are in the mood to headbang or not, they inject something into your bloodstream that renders you incapable of resisting the overpowering urge.” Outburn Magazine

“This music is all about the swagger, and the foursome carries themselves like the 1976-77 Habs: they will own you, plain and simple, no matter how hung over they are from the night before.” Decibel Magazine

“Up tempo stoner rock like a cross between The Atomic Bitchwax, Fu Manchu and The Fucking Champs – excellent musicianship” Terrorizer Magazine

“huge groovy riffs that would make Phil Lynott proud.”
