Extreme metal at its very best, plain and simple, is what the Atlanta based quintet DAATH delivers. The group’s highly anticipated third full-length release is going to be self-titled and is set for an Oct. 26th North American release.
DAATH are currently putting the finishing touches on the new disc, which is being co-produced by the renowned Mark Lewis (Trivium, Devildriver) and Eyal Levi (guitars). Metal Mark from Skulls N Bones recently spent some time in the studio with the band and compiled a video series documenting the recording process, so click on the link below now to check out the second installment. http://www.skullsnbones.com/video/daath-studio-report-vocals
Sean Z. (vocals) further states: “This album will definitely be the most real thing this band has put out to date. It’s on a level everyone can relate to. The lyrics have taken a brand new direction and the music compliments the insanity creating a fucking masterpiece of a way different kind.”
Currently the group is more determined, energized, and focused than ever before and is continuing to expand upon their unique, uncompromising and dynamic sound. For those previously uninitiated, feel free to head over to www.myspace.com/daath to see what they are all about.
After debuting their new line up to a sold-out audience in New York this past May and then traveling to Europe to devastate the masses with shows in 16 different countries in 80 days (including two shows opening for AC/DC), Germany’s legendary metal band ACCEPT will return to tour the U.S. for the first time in 14 years on a co-headlining tour with King’s X. Their first show will kick-off the eleventh annual ProgPower USA festival in Atlanta.
Guitarist & songwriter Wolf Hoffman checks in about the band’s time in Germany & their upcoming North American trek:
“Believe me, this was boot camp, but we loved every minute of it! Twelve months ago, there was nothing on the horizon that would have made us believe we would be on the stages of the world again as ACCEPT… and here we are! [New lead vocalist] Mark Tornillo inspires us to get it all out in a way we have not been challenged before. We can’t wait to be on stage with him!!!! He is the new kid on the block and he is the reason we are back again. It is such a relief, such vitamin shot!!! And if we could, we would never stop!!!”
When asked what has surprised the band the most about their fans, Hoffman responds enthusiastically:
“NO DOUBT ABOUT IT – the biggest surprise is the way they make us feel welcomed. Of course we hoped the fans would be happy to have us back – who would not believe that about their fans? – but, what is happening here, EVERYWHERE we go, is a TOTAL KNOCK-OUT for us. WE HAVE NOT SEEN FANS SO HAPPY IN A LONG, LONG TIME.”

TESTAMENT guitarist Alex Skolnick has checked in with the following update:
“It’s been nearly ten years since my first TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA winter tour. Each year it’s been an incredible experience, traveling from arena to arena being an important part of the largest symphonic rock production in history. This year, however, I’ve decided to make the difficult decision of stepping out of the spotlight (and lasers, fog, fire and snow) and embarking upon new adventures.
The reasons for this are twofold.
As one might imagine, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra winter tour is a demanding one — with long days and an action-packed show that calls for no less than 200% of yourself, often twice a day from the mid-October rehearsals to the final show in January.
While the awesome response from fans and the collaboration with fellow performers make it beyond worth it, there comes a point, after so many years of annual grueling intensity, for some of us to draw upon that quarter of a year’s worth of time and energy in order to launch a renewed focus on our own visions.
In my case, this process begins with the release of a brand new (ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO) album to be followed by heavy touring, including winter dates in support of RODRIGO Y GABRIELA.
There are many other endeavors in the works, the information of which will be continually updated online at AlexSkolnick.com. Furthermore, as someone who has been on tour with multiple projects and running on all cylinders during the entire calendar year since 2006, reclaiming this three-month period will open up the option to take breaks once in a while, remember what home looks like, lessen the constant separation from friends and loved ones and recharge my own batteries as needed.
Of course, I’ll miss doing the Trans-Siberian Orchestra tour. The stage time, friendships and overall experience has
I’m grateful to Paul O’Neil and Nightcastle Management for the opportunity, to all the musicians and singers for the good times and to all the fans for the unyielding support; you guys are the best! I look forward to seeing many of you out there in different configurations.”
New York, NY (August 11, 2010)—In 2009, Jane’s Addiction spooked up a musical celebration on Halloween Night at the Voodoo Experience in New Orleans. On August 31, Eagle Rock will capture their one-of-a-kind concert experience on their first ever live DVD and Blu-ray: Live Voodoo. [MSRP $14.98 for DVD, $19.98 for Blu-ray]
Live Voodoo features the original Jane’s Addiction line-up – guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, drummer Stephen Perkins, and enigmaticfrontman Perry Farrell – enjoying a glorious reunification. They carry the crowd through 13 cuts, predominantly culled from their first two albums. The band stirs up some voodoo of their own, buoyed by the mesmerizing magic of Farrell’s unmatched stage presence, and Navarro’s hyper-charged and heavy riffage. Roused to a riotous climax, the stage is invaded by a singing, dancing and costumed mass of fans in pure punk rock fashion. In addition to the New Orleans show, the DVD and Blu-ray feature bonus footage from LA gigs in 2008, a photo gallery, and a featurette from NME.
Conquering the hard rock world in the late eighties / early nineties, Jane’s Addiction created a landscape that many alternative rock bands would follow, such as Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails and Rage Against the Machine. Formed after a meeting of the minds between Farrell and Avery, the band started a buzz in LA after the addition of Navarro and Perkins. In 2010, with over 7 million albums sold in the US alone, Jane’s Addiction is still regarded as a pop culture tour-de-force. Live Voodoo brings their supreme and inimitable live experience home.

MARIONETTE Hits The Studio, Photos Available, More “The SlaughTour

Gothenburg Sweden based metal sextet MARIONETTE recently entered Studio
Fredman with producer Fredrik Nordström (IN FLAMES, BRING ME THE HORIZON)
to begin recording the band’s as of yet-untitled third album. Guitarist
and backing vocalist Aron Parmerud made the following remarks regarding the
recording sessions and progress thus far:
“The recordings for our third album are underway! We spent a great deal
of time after our last UK/EU tour with BLESSTHEFALL working on new songs
and ended up with over 14 songs. Last month Jimmy came in and nailed each
of the songs on drums and from there we began tracking the guitars and bass
all at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg. Linus [Johansson, keyboards] and I
are working with the ambiance of the music and the keyboards. Alexander
[Andersson, vocals] is currently working hard on the lyrics and vocal
lines. We’ve made some studio photos available on our Official Facebook
“Fans of our Spite and more so Enemies albums will find some familiar
elements in our new songs. Listeners will certainly hear contrasts between
brutal and beautiful, progressive and catchy, and up-tempo and down-tempo.
There are more elements that will be very new to our listeners. We’re
eager to perform a few of these new songs live on our upcoming “The
SlaughTour 2010” dates in the UK and Denmark, and our recently confirmed
shows with fellow Gothenburgers DARK TRANQUILLITY in Sweden and Norway. So

band will join fellow Gothenburgers DARK TRANQUILLITY on the final Swedish
and Norwegian dates of the “Where Death is Most Alive Part II” Tour.

Irish thrashers GAMA BOMB have confirmed a headlining European tour for September, before the band heads to North America in October for a two-month trek with the likes of OVERKILL, FORBIDDEN, DRI, EVILE and BONDED BY BLOOD.
GAMA BOMB will kick off the “Graveyard Disturbance” tour on September 16th in Nijmegen, Netherlands, with support for the tour coming from Danish metal award winners CROCELL.
GAMA BOMB bassist JOE McGUIGAN comments:
“We’re seriously looking forward to the GRAVEYARD DISTURBANCE TOUR: it’s been a while since we kicked over some tombstones in Europe. We’ll be touring in a slightly different incarnation, though, as our lead guitar player Domo ‘The Kid’ Dixon will be sitting out touring for the rest of 2010 to concentrate on personal stuff.
“Our pal and original guitbox player Kevy Canavan, who played on our first album, Survival of the Fastest, will be filling in for Domo on our European and US tours this year. As we’re revving up for a major US tour later this year, these will be our final European dates until some point in 2011, we’re not sure when.
“So get your ass to Mars (i.e. the graveyard (i.e. your local smelly club (that we’re playing in))) and help us chug some beers!”

Laid 8, is a four piece alternative rock act from Israel. Fronted by the small in stature but huge of voice Tal Itay, and featuring guitarist Dave G, bass player Uri Ofir and drummer Oded Grosz, Laid 8 have been steadily building their reputation with sell out shows throughout their home country and now is the time for the four piece to spread their wings, and see what the rest of the world has to offer!
The band’s four track debut EP has been garnering glowing praise and the band has just finished putting together a new video for the track ‘Answers’.
Slayer and Megadeth co-headline the 19-city “American Carnage” tour that kicks off tonight in Glens Falls, NY. Three classic Slayer in-concert DVDs – “Live Intrusion,” “War at the Warfield,” and “Still Reigning,” will be released separately and as a box-set next week, on August 17.
X Japan made its U.S. concert debut at Lollapalooza this past Sunday, and an ABC “World News with Diana Sawyer” crew was there to record the historic event. The Chicago Sun-Times called the band’s performance “a spectacular, almost operatic performance of big ballads and speed metal.” Time Out Chicago’s review thanked Lollapalooza’s co-founder Perry Farrell for booking “the coup of the festival,” and USA Today wrote, “The metal-pop-punk was fast and furious,” describing the drumming of band leader Yoshiki as “Keith Moon on Red Bull.”
X Japan, one of the most successful rock bands in Japanese history, has its sights set on America, with its first U.S. tour and English-lyrics album coming this Fall. ABC-TV’s Dan Harris sat down with X Japan’s Yoshiki in Chicago, to talk about that, and more.
According to Burbankleader.com, a limited edition wine will be released Sunday in honor of Burbank native Randy Rhoads, who was the lead guitarist for OZZY OSBOURNE and QUIET RIOT before he was killed in a plane crash while on tour with Osbourne in 1982.
The Rhoads special edition 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon will be unveiled during a tasting party from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the D’Argenzio Winery in Burbank, home to the Rhoads and D’Argenzio families.
The special edition wine is a way to honor her brother’s legacy, music and life, said Kathryn Rhoads D’Argenzio.
“He grew up here and is still very revered in the music industry,” she said. “This is something I can do to keep his memory alive.”
New album from Austrias most successful Metalband!; Tour will start in October!
What can we tell you about Austrias most successful Metalband?!?
Their first album “Blessings from a Blackened Sky” was awarded as “Album of the month August” by the Metal Hammer Magazine in 2007. The second one “Origin Of The Storm” climbed on # 56 of the German album charts. In Austria it reached even # 25. In 2009 THE SORROW won the Austrian music award “Amadeus” for “Hard `n Heavy”.
THE SORROW toured during the last years with great bands like SEPULTURA, CHILDREN OF BODOM and CHIMARIA. And they rocked at the WACKEN OPEN AIR, the SUMMER BREEEZE, the MASTERS OF ROCK and many more Festivals. This year they performed at the SONISPHERE FESTIVAL (f.e. with METALLICA, SLAYER, LAMB OF GOD, VOLBEAT ) in Switzerland and the NOVA ROCK (f.e. with RAMSTEIN, SLASH, GREEN DAY).
On October 29th the third, selftitled, album „The Sorrow“ will be released. This album is the moment of truth for Andi, Dominik, Mätze and Tobi.
They made a great start with “Blessings from a Blackened Sky“ and the, at this point totally unknown, band from Voralberg earned sudden success. With “Origin of the Storm” they brought their original sound to perfection. Now the band is ready to take a risk.
THE SORROW defined their music new, but remained true to themselfes. The classical concepts left for the overwhelming will to explore new terrain. In result they created 13 unique songs. This songs combine everything, that makes Metal cracking good.
With this new album THE SORROW is not only going new ways, but taking their audience with them to new horizons.
Of course THE SORROW will be live on stage. This are the latest tourdates.
The dates for concerts in Benelux, Scandinavia and Austria will follow soon.
The first photo of the new lineup of the Californian metal band AGENT STEEL — featuring the group’s returning vocalist, John Cyriis — can be viewed to the right. The picture was taken by Alex Solca on July 23, 2010.
AGENT STEEL is currently rehearsing its classic material as well as working on new songs for future release. One of the tracks that Cyriis has been writing lyrics to has a working title of “Behold…The Great Race”.
Cyriis appeared on AGENT STEEL’s first three releases — “Skeptics Apocalypse” (1985), “Mad Locust Rising” (1985) and “Unstoppable Force” (1987).
AGENT STEEL’s fifth album, “Alienigma”, was issued by Mascot Records on August 31, 2007.
Maurizio Iacono, vocalist of iconic Canadian extreme metallers KATAKLYSM, recently gave us a track by track break down of the their new album Heaven’s Venom. The following is Part 2 of the commentary, which encompasses tracks 8 – 10 from the album.
“At the Edge of the World”:
“Forget IN FLAMES and AT THE GATES! This song rivals the best of them in the melodic thrash area. This song will make many heads turn I think. Unleash your anger and bang your head! For when you feel like your suffocating and you’re at your breaking point. Standing at the edge of the world; will you jump or survive?”
“The most dark, melodic and dramatic song on the album. A gut gripping and very intense song, fast and mid paced without taking a breath. Deals with suicide and how easy it is to take that route versus living in this fucked up world.”
“The slow finale. A very atmospheric song with a sharp edge. A sing along song it will make you think. Rivals are best slow songs like “Road to Devastation”. Song deals with questioning God and faith. Questions what you can’t see.”
KATAKLYSM have made their new album Heaven’s Venom available for streaming in it’s entirety on their Myspace page www.myspace.com/Kataklysm. Heaven’s Venom will be released on August 13th in Europe and August 24th in North America. The follow-up to 2008’s Prevail, was recorded by KATAKLYSM guitarist J-F Dagenais (MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX) and was mixed by Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, MNEMIC, DARK TRANQUILLITY). Candlelight Records today confirms October 12 as the North American release date for Quietly, Undramatically, the new album from WOE. Recorded at Gradwell House in Haddon Heights, New Jersey with additional tracking completed at frontman Chris Grigg’s BS1 in Philadelphia, the album is the first to feature a full band ensemble comprised of members from Absu, Woods of Ypres, The Green Evening Requiem, Infernal Stronghold and Rumpelstiltskin Grinder.
Formed in 2007, WOE originally began as a solo project of Philadelphia-based multi-instrumentalist Chris Grigg. Popular site Metal Review called WOE’s debut, A Spell For The Death Of Man (2008/Stronghold Records), “easily 2008’s most criminally overlooked album” while Mouth For War notes, “balancing technical mastery with desolate atmospherics, A Spell For The Death Of Man shears through the fabric of society with ferocious aggression and a hatred for mankind.” Teeth Of The Divine adds, “WOE turns out to be one of the very best pure black metal bands I’ve heard is some time. It captures the misanthropy, tortured melody, scarred atmospherics and introspective, craggy nihilism of the genre.”
Reveals Grigg, “Quietly, Undramatically is a major step forward for WOE. Not only is it our first release for Candlelight Records but the debut of WOE: the band as opposed to WOE: the solo project. The performances of Evan Madden (drums) and Shane Madden (bass) bring WOE to a whole new level. It is a much more mature album, featuring dynamics and ideas that WOE has never been able to tackle before. We are all very excited for this album’s release and the subsequent live performances in support of it!”
Quietly, Undramatically is WOE’s first release for England’s Candlelight Records. The album reunites the band with designer/illustrator Justin Miller. “Justin and I have worked together on different projects for years now and he has never let me down. I consider his art an additional song on the album — the most important song, the one that ties it all together. Sound is what I do, sight is what he does, and it is a relief to know that WOE‘s presentation is handled with such feeling.”
Track listing for Quietly, Undramatically is: 1) No Solitude, 2) The Road From Recovery, 3) Quietly, Undramatically, 4) A Treatise on Control, 5) Without Logic, 6) Full Circle, 7) Hatred is Our Heart.
WOE will celebrate the release with a free performance, along with labelmates KRIEG, at Philadelphia’s Kung Fu Necktie (1248 North Front Street) on October 28. For additional live performances visit the band’s recently redesigned site at: http://----escape_autolink_uri:e07a4ee789ecad6d77485637e160be2b----.
